IMAGE EMERGENCY ✎ 001
[Henry had been holed up in his office all morning, trying to rap his head around the fact that they had passed him over for the promotion. He was the most successful junior marketing rep in the company. All of his proposals were turned in early and he always returned profits greater than most of the senior representatives. He made the necessary small talk with his coworkers and he’d thought they all liked him well enough.
Or he had until his boss had confided that the reason he had been passed up for the promotion was his lack of social skills. It was true that he’d never seen most of his colleagues outside of the office, but who he did or didn’t grab a beer with on Friday nights wasn’t anyone else’s concern. Or so he thought. Henry’s soul-searching was interrupted when Eliza Dooley, a sales rep, stormed into the room and insisted he help her ‘fix her image’.
Henry gaped at her for a moment.]
“Exuse me?” [He muttered in disbelief. Eliza was one of the most well-liked, if notorious members of the office. And almost no-one out side of marketing knew who Henry was. How could he possible help her?]
"I. Need. You. To. Help. Me."
[Eliza repeated the words, each one punctuated as if she was talking to someone stupid -- which, out at bars, she tended to encounter quite a lot. She'd heard this guy was supposed to be smart, but she'd presented him with a fairly simple statement and he was practically gaping at her like he didn't comprehend.
Begging for help wasn't fun, but it was what Eliza had to do. Hoping he'd gotten the gist this time, she tapped her foot impatiently on the floor, expecting an answer.]
"Do you want me to say please or something? Just -- fix this!"
[Pulling her phone out, Eliza swiped until she got to the horrible video that had been haunting her, passing it to him to watch. It was too horrible for her to bear look at again, so she covered her eyes, waiting to hear the fateful noises of her public embarrassment. He may not have understood her frantic plea, but surely the visuals would help get him up to speed.]
