this book series has completely consumed my heart and soul 😭
The Society: Darrow is an abomination, a demon, don’t fight him alone. A god of war, killer of men
Darrow: I like strawberries and singing and dancing, and I really want a baby. Also I cry a lot, sorry
you are the life i needed all along
In the institute one of the biggest lessons Darrow learned was how to get the respect of others, and how to get them to let him lead them. When to offer praise and when to take responsibility for his own failings in public and dramatic ways. He learned when he needed to make concessions he didn’t want to.
Lysander never learned these lessons. He believes himself a peerless scar from battle but he never learned the real lessons the institute taught regarding leadership. And it led to his biggest mistake.
Killing Cassius. He went into great detail about the respect and power Julia au Bellona had. Darrow let Tacitus live in the institute because he needed Tactus’s allies. Lysander killed Cassius and is going to lose his own.
i wanna add one thing, even before attending the institute, darrow had leadership qualities. he was the helldiver, he was the most important person of his clan that kids looked up to. and even at 16 he was thinking about feeding the people of his clan, how he can improve their lives, taking on that responsibility. institute helped him learn the rules and ways of gaining power among golds. he built himself from the ground with his own skill and wit.
while the only reason lysander is viewed as a leader or potential ruler is his last name, his heritage. the masses viewed him as "silenius' heir" the moment he was revealed. he rides the wave of his ancestors. he does not have the skill or wisdom, never gained it, can't even duel people with his razor. his main reason to strive for power is not to help people. he is just so lonely and empty inside, he tries to fill it by restoring himself to his grandmother's throne. he does not value the people around him. this is why he will never win.
exactly!! like many people think darrow only gained leadership qualities and man of those virtues that are common in iron golds after being carved into a gold but it's very obvious from the beginning that without knowing about these virtues or iron golds he embodies many of these typical gold virtues and skills
like the carving didn't make darrow special he was just BORN special, he's just different
darrow doesn't chase after virtues or pretense he just IS and that's the core difference between him and any other gold because darrow embodies what they're supposed to be and what they want to be but almost NONE of them are
lysander obviously tries to replicate some of darrow's victories and tactics so he seems more like darrow but he just isn't to the core, lysander is build on lies he feeds himself and others
Red Rising - Darrow/Eo - Quotes
„ Without me, she would not eat. Without her, I would not live.“
- Pierce Brown from Red Rising
„I live for you,” I say sadly. She kisses my cheek. “Then you must live for more.“
- Pierce Brown from Red Rising
„Her skin prickles as they lay her across the cold box. She flinches. I wish my blood had warmed it better for her.“
- Pierce Brown from Red Rising
„But Eo’s kindness, her laughter, her fierce will, is the best that can come from a home such as ours.“
- Pierce Brown from Red Rising
„We sweat and we laugh and try to forget the anger. We grew together, and now are grown. In her eyes, I see my heart. In her breath, I hear my soul. She is my land. She is my kin. My love.“
- Pierce Brown from Red Rising
it brings me so much satisfaction to see all those other big bundesliga clubs absolutely fall into a hole they can't seem to escape, this is the situation my club has been in for 20 years and everyone was always laughing about us and now i have the chance to laugh about them too
the best thing is that while they all get relegated and stay in the second division we get promoted to the bundesliga every year and then get relegated the next lol but at least we achieve what all of the others seem incapable of

Characters' info under the cut
gotta be honest with y'all i wouldn't gaf if kelsier turns into a villain or even the main villain and starts killing stormlight characters, i'll stand with my cancelled wife through it all he can do whatever he wants and i'd still look at him with heart eyes
More ancient mistborn fanart from I don’t even know when. I need to do some era 2 stuff.
"I'll always have your back".

every time i think i know the cosmere i remember that i actually am still missing about 80% of all novellas
I FINALLY FINISHED THE BANDS OF MOURNING
I KNEW IT I KNEW IT FROM THE VERY FIRST MENTION
MY BOYYYYY MY BAEEE MY WIF
this moment was exactly why i read these books i need more of him it's almost like i'm addicted
might be an unpopular opinion but i truly started loving steris, idk but in shadows of self she really intrigued me sadly we didn't see much of here there i'm now reading bands of mourning and i really hope we get more of her
she might even be my favorite character in mistborn 2 because so far only she peaked my interest in the books, i've been forcing myself through mistborn 2 so far and she just might make it more bearable
which i think is kinda funny since she is supposed to be this boring lonely woman in the books
so i just found out she's going to become more relevant and also play a big part in bands of mourning
just wanted to say that i've been in love with her since her introduction and even if she would've stayed a "boring" side character she would've remained my favorite
anyway still happy to know she'll get a storyline

I'm currently going to the Kelsier Arcanum tag and (re-)discovering a lot of interesting things
I'm starting to suspect he didn't use his name Kelsier because he didn't want them to know he's the survivor (if they know please don't spoil i'm currently fighting through mistborn era 2)
Has this ever been revealed or are we still guessing?
