"I'm okay. Who are you, again?"
"Unless your life is in immediate danger, do me a favor and fuck off."
"I'm hungry."
"Where did you get that, and how can I get some?"
"You can smoke outside...designated area."
Well yeah, thatâs obvious. Â You look like youâre in the middle of a panic attack. Â Do they give you anything for that?
No, not for that.
Hey Girl, you donât look so good ⊠do you get an anxiety PRN?
Yes, I have anxiety.
"I think the staff feels bad for me."
"Or that you're gorgeous."
"Ugh, same. Weâll split it. I know I can strike a deal with one of these guards."
"How do you do it...get a deal out of it?"
"Well of course you do, who doesnât love a good steak?"
She rubbed her shoulder and tried to help her calm down. Glad that she was able to step in when it was needed. She felt like she wasnât just getting help here, that maybe she could help others as well. âSo do you have name gorgeous or am I gonna call you Steak Girl?â
"I'm Ellie..most of the nurses are scared of me, cause I give them sas." She smiled.
The possibilities are endless, really.
I could use some chocolate.
Yeah well. I was hoping I could bribe a guard to get me crisps or something.
Cookies. Chocolate.
This place does look better than prison.
What you do?
See. Told you I could do it. You owe me five bucks.
You do know five dollars isn't worth anything in this place?
"People that is what people should do for each other. They should help each other, and if you canât help someone you should at least not hurt them.Â
"And being ignored hurts as much as any knife." She glanced down to the girls arm but didnât want to stare too long. "Iâm starving too. Iâm pretty sure they had steak for dinner, we wouldnât want to miss that." She offered her a smile and tugged her down the hall in only the most gentle manner.Â
She slowly walked beside her, leaning in her slightly for comfort. "I love steak..any type of meat."
"Sorry, I was just trying to help."
"It's fine.."
After helping her to her feet, Dylan supported some of her weight to stop her from hitting the floor. âAre you okay. Is there somewhere I can take you to rest? Are you hungry?â
She was a naturally compassionate person. She hated seeing other in any type of pain, emotional or physical.Â
Slowly she nodded, "Yes, I'm okay. I'm uh..starving." She felt like she hasn't eaten in days, feeling empty. "Why are you helping me?"
She sighed. âyouâre just going to make them worse. They are trying to heal.â She leaned against the back of the wall and pulled her knees up to her chest. âI know itâs not my business but still.â
"No, it's not your business. It's mine." She said quietly.
