Image Description tweet from annapuperscott reads "the rules intended to stop trans women from competing have instead stopped a bunch of Black women from competing. I feel like all the transphobes upset about fairness in women's sports should be getting really angry about how unfair this is, but they're weirdly quiet.
Cis supremacy always leads to white supremacy because cis supremacy is rooted in colonial ideas about gender, ideas that were never meant to include Black people or Black cultures. You can't be anti-racist and transphobic, because transphobia always leads to racism." End Description

One thing in Lord of the Rings I’ve found extremely relatable lately is how the hobbits react to apocalyptic horrors by focusing on the mundane details of their day.
“Looks like we’re on a hopeless journey into Hell in the middle of a world-ending event where everything we know and love will be destroyed. What are we going to have for breakfast today, Mr Frodo? :D”
This is also why the moment where Sam is forced to throw away his pots/pans in Mordor really Gets me…because Sam comforted Frodo and himself by recreating the mundane “normal” rituals of their life in the Shire, especially the rituals around meals and food. Throwing away his pans means throwing away his ability to do that, throwing away the ability to feign ‘normalcy’ for even a moment
I really liked the detail about Sam’s box of Shire salt. He may not know how or where he would find something to cook, but if he does it won’t be tasteless. The little things matter when they’re the only things you can control.
Ahhh yeah exactly ;-;
Another similar moment that gets me is the way Sam rations food for the return journey as a way of reassuring Frodo and himself that there Will be a return journey.
So the moment in Mordor when Sam throws away all his cooking implements…or the later moment when Frodo points out there will be no water left for the return journey and Sam says “I don’t think there will be a return journey,” showing that he’s given up the mentality he had in the beginning of the film where he was emphatic that the two of them would return…..ahhhhhhhhh
It’s more than just rationing food, and it’s more than just sacrificing little habits and routines. Its like— by sacrificing these little habits and routines, they’re sacrificing any belief that they can have a future.
It’s like “why perform these meaningless daily rituals where you take care of yourself and carry around little things that make you happy, when the world is ending?” And the answer is “because if you stop doing those little things, you’ve given up any hope that the world can be saved, and that you can be part of it”
Bears are easily one of the most animals of all time but a close second is the fossa
Like that sure is an animal alright
What are the criteria for being the most animal
Being shaped, having a diet of certain foods, tendency to live in places. That sort of thing.
easily one of the most animals of all time
It's a Vietnamese Hmong dog for those asking

when i was a teenager it felt very revolutionary to be cruel to myself. like some kind of slow passive protest against how much everything hurt. i starved myself of sleep and food and tenderness because it felt right. it felt sharp and angry and radical and i wanted to be those things. adulthood is the realisation that the world is already working to cut into you well before you learn how to do it yourself. caring for yourself and others is the real protest

"Have a bake sale for body armor!" 😆
Why can’t it just be fine for anyone to look however the fuck they look. Why can’t anybody have big boobs or body hair or pattern baldness or muscles or curves no matter what gender they are. Why can’t anybody just be fat. Why does anybody still get mean about it. Why does anybody even still get mildly befuddled about it. Everybody’s looked like a bunch of ways for 200 thousand years
I see a lot of positivity posts about 12-year-olds just learning to draw. Posts cautioning us to be mindful of 11-year-olds with no grasp of anatomy and 13-year-olds whose characters are all the same person with different hair and clothes, and I love those posts. Those are great posts. Keep those posts coming, tumblr.
But can I ask, what about the 25-year-old who just bought their first ever sketchbook? What about the 32-year-old who’s been drawing for a month and has just about got the hang of a human-looking face? What about the 67-year-old who finally has time to sit down and learn how to paint like they’ve always wanted?
Not everyone starts drawing as a child. Not everyone learned as a preteen. Some people start in college. Some people start when their career is going well and they feel like it’s time for a new hobby. Some people start after they’ve retired.
Not all beginner artists are kids, and I just think the adults ones deserve some encouragement, too.
all jokes aside, it makes me very sad how literally the entire internet, especially social media, has just become more and more unapologetic in trying to wring as much money out of you as possible. can’t go on youtube without being bombarded by youtube red ads promising that if you just give them money, they’ll block the pesky ads who are also begging for your money. can’t stream a movie without searching for it on each of the dozens and dozens of streaming platforms. all demanding individual subscriptions for their tiny share of the world’s movies that used to just all be on netflix. every news site counting down your free three articles, all the while begging you to turn your adblock off. click off instagram’s stupid shopping tab, and the first post on your timeline is with #ad. and of course, now, tumblr’s adding post plus. i hate it!! hate getting advertised at everywhere i go. hate that social media’s not even supposed to be social anymore, just another thing to monetize. i’m so sick of it!!! can’t escape it ever!!! give us 9.99 per month for exclusive fucking content!! fuck!!
