Character study of Legolas on a wheelchair for the Character Design Challenge. A good training ! I definitly think fantasy should have more disabled character, especially since lot of story is based on major conflict.
On this, may the rainbow guide you steps

[Image description: Three drawings of Legolas from The Lord of the Rings in a wheelchair. Legolas is an elf man with blond hair and wearing leaf-patterned armor. The first drawing shows him sitting in profile with a hand on the wheel of his chair. The second drawing shows him from the front, turned to the side with an arrow drawn in his bow. The third drawing shows him at an angle, zooming along in his wheelchair as he wields two swords, leaves swirling all around him. End image description.]
lord of the rings + love
Me: *strapped to a chair in a cold interrogation room with a middle aged man pacing back and forth*
Him: *projects a picture of Sam and Frodo on to the wall* What is their relationship?
Me: Their ship is valid and very cute, but we should also consider the idea that their admiration and respect for one another is a deep, platonic bond. Love doesn't always have to be romantic, and it is important for men to be able to express their platonic care for one another in a way that toxic masculinity doesn't currently allow.
Him: Okay *projects a picture of Legolas and Gimli* what's their relatio-
Me: They're fucking.
The idea of Trans fem pippin has been stuck in my head for days so I just had to draw her 🌿💐🌈🏳️⚧️🍃🌾
gently, gently…
The "Riders of Rohan" chapter is full of gems but one of those is that there were three horses that Éomer offered to give to the Three Hunters, and since Gimli plainly refused to "ride a beast", he ended up riding behind Legolas. The films present this as if there were only two horses so they made do out of necessity, but no, Gimli son of Glóin just didn't want to sit on a horse by himself and said as much proudly to the Third Marshal of the Riddermark. King.
One of my favorite scenes in LOTR that should have made it into the movies is in the Tower of Cirith Ungol. Sam, desperately trying to find his dear Mr. Frodo, panics and sings a song to calm himself down. From far above him, he hears Frodo singing back in response. Sam keeps singing and follows Frodo's song, eventually leading him to his love.
It's such a beautiful and heartfelt scene that I think highlights the wonderful nature of hobbits.
One reason I love The Hobbit is because Bilbo Baggins, a confirmed bachelor who enjoys life’s simple pleasures, is the main character in a book about a grand adventure involving dragons and war and fighting in the wilderness. Typically, the character who goes on a quest like Bilbo’s fits into a heterosexual plot and heteronormative descriptions. The quest often involves rescuing a damsel in distress, for example, and using brute strength in many important parts of the journey. Bilbo, on the other hand, is often the opposite of the traditional hero; and yet, his quest is no less grand, nor are his feats along the way.
This being said, The Hobbit, especially the movies (apart from unnecessary additions) because of Howard Shore’s epic soundtrack, make me as a queer reader emotional because I see someone like myself, not fitting into the strong, heterosexual mold that most heroes do, represented in a heroic journey that calls to mind legends of old.
Happy pride to all the hobbit folk out there. Let us rejoice with our favorite “accidentally” queer book series, The Lord of the Rings, starring two “confirmed bachelors,” one gardener “companion,” unlikely “friends,” a cross-dressing “shieldmaden,”and a whole lot of other affectionate men.
I’ve said this before I think, but sad Lord of the Rings fans need to read the unpublished epilogue (version 2 especially). It’s in the book Sauron Defeated. Go to your local library or get a pdf online if you can find it, but it is imperative that any queer fans read it! If you cannot find a version of it at all, Molly Knox published a comic version of it on AO3.
I know Emeldir's title the "man hearted" is supposed to be about them having a masculine warrior's role but I have decided they are trans. Trans FTM who is okay with still being called wife and mom

I would like to formally let you all know that Frodo and Sam are currently having a happy Yuletide in Bag End. They are baking cookies and staying warm while the snow falls. Thank you for your time.
If there’s anyone out there who just needs more gay hobbits in their lives or who, like me, is crazy for the queer interpretation of Tolkien’s works, check out Hobbit Hot Takes on YouTube and/or Tik Tok.
This series is so cool and does a deep dive into queer readings of the Lord of the Rings. 10/10, would recommend.
