The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco is a mystery about a sacred library concealed within a labyrinth and the medieval heresies concerning the poverty of Christ. Yet another book calculated to make me miss theology discussions with my grandfather. I feel like I would've gotten more out of it if I could read Latin or if I were better versed in church history. That said, I had a good time rolling around in the words regardless. Also highly recommend the film.

If you are not super conversant in Latin or you slept through the last few lectures on the heresies of the medieval church, may I point you to: The Key to the Name of the Rose: Including Translations of All Non-English Passages, by Adele J. Haft, Jane G. White, and Robert J. White. It's incredibly thorough, and also it's probably in your local public library as well as on the Internet Archive.
