y’know we’re all so thirsty for the next dragon age when a short ass teaser is enough for all the entire dragon age fandom to RISE UP (like solas the dramatic egg)

From someone who’s survived MySpace, livejournal, deviantart, and fanfiction.nets’ content purges and bad policy updates, here’s some advice on how to get through tumblr’s recent bullshit:

- don’t knee jerk delete. I know it’s tempting to peace out immediately but hang on and do the other steps first. Out right ghosting and erasing everything is how fandoms die.

- archive everything on your blog you want to keep

- tell your followers how they can archive and keep your work too. A lot of fic and art were only saved from ff.net and lj because other people saved it first. If you’re cool with other people saving your work for them to personally keep, let them know this. You can absolutely discourage reposting but I really do highly recommend you allow people to personally save fic and art they like and are worried will disappear forever. Digital Dark Ages are a real thing.

- tell people where you’re jumping ship to. Give links. Keep that info up, even if you’ve left the site.

- go through who you follow and find out where else you can follow them. Save their work if they’ll allow it. It’s tedious as hell but if you want to keep up with people on here clicking on their page to check in is the best way to do it.

- support places like ao3. This is exactly why ao3 asks for donations a few times a year. They are a 100% anti-purging, judgement free, ad free non profit run by an elected board and protected by lawyers. Places like ao3 literally save fandom so please continue to support them and other similar archives. This is exactly why ao3 is so important.

Let me interrupt my usually scheduled programming of cosplay to tell you:

GO TO YOUR APP STORE GET REGENCY LOVE PLAY IT

This is legitimately my new favorite video game. My sister and I have been dying over it for a full day now. It’s called Regency Love and it’s basically a Jane Austen dating sim. The creators were like “ok we love Bioware games but what if we took out all the fighting and put everyone in waistcoats?” It has hours of dialogue, multiple paths you can take through society, and about thirty different endings. Also there’s Regency trivia questions interspersed throughout.

Unlike the usual rpg stats of strength and constitution, you have dancing, riding, music, reading, needlework, and drawing. And your skill level in each matters. And your responses help shape your personality and how people treat you. As you can see, my five defining traits were Amiable, Compassionate, Sensible, Gentle, and Witty. Like seriously, the approval system on this iPad game rivals Dragon Age’s system.

And it’s lead to the most delightful conversations in the house too because my sister and I are constantly looking up and screaming stuff like, “I do believe Mr Curtis has snubbed me at the Worthington’s ball!” and “oh no, I may have been too bold when I mounted my horse without the aid for a riding block!” I literally rode off into the sunset with Mr Ashecroft. It was amazing.

Also you can talk Irish politics with a cat.

Go. Go download this game. It’s worth every penny.

Please, no matter where you live, please reblog this. My cousin has been missing for 3 days and we need all the help we can get to find her. The more people that see this, the more eyes there are out there looking for her. She could be hurt or scared or taken by someone and the thought of this terrifies me to the core. Thank you so much, either way. Some reblogs are better than no reblogs. She went missing from the Antelope Valley area in Southern California a little over three days ago. We all just want this to be spread as far as possible because whether she ran away or was taken, after 3 days she could be almost anywhere, you know?
