Actually there’s a lot to be said about Laura Palmer’s attraction to girls in relation to her substance use and also how she only lets herself act on sapphic desires when there’s this veneer of it being for the benefit of predatory men, so it’s a twisted comfort and forces her to associate one of the few joyful and beautiful things in her life with her trauma and this shameful double life she leads, which is also why she won’t let herself go there with Donna. She loves Donna so she has to protect her from all of it, “it” including her own desires because she feels monstrous for having them
