Tutorial: Converting Adult shoes to Teen-Elder in less than 5 minutes!
Ever converted shoes, and just the thought about doing the same process of adjusting and remaping a mesh twice more has already made you exausted?
Also tired of enabling the file for teen-elder, and then having that nasty seam at the ankle?
Well, today your problems are over!
What you will need:
Blender (I'm using 3.6, and this tutorial will work in at least 2.8. Older versions aren't recommended due to plugin compatibility)
GEOM tools plugin
GEOM base meshes (all gathered by @toadifylackoffantasy❤)
A .wso feet reference for your choosed age (you can export it from TSRW from a mesh that has naked ankles)
Cmar's Mesh Toolkit
S3PE (to extract the mesh from the package)
TSRW (I'm using 2.2.118, older versions are fine)
An Adult shoe you wish to age convert (if you're tweaking other creators CC, respect their TOU!)
Note:
This tutorial will not teach you how to model or convert shoes from other games. Maybe one day I'll document my chaotic workflow, but I won't promise anything.
I only did this method with shoes that are not high heels, as it keeps the ankle verts in the same place as EA default. It might work as well, you could try etc. Also for obvious reasons this wont work with any type of shoes that cover the ankles
Before starting:
Be sure that GEOM tools plugin is installed on Blender, and that the GEOM base meshes are extracted.
Extract the LOD1 mesh from your package shoe, and save it on a project folder to make things easier etc.
Now, let's go!
👠Step 1:
Open Blender, get rid of everything there as Cube, camera etc, as we won't need them.
Import the shoe mesh you wish to convert with GEOM tools, name it so you know what is is (since upon importing it names the object just as "geom"), and after that import the teen/elder feet reference as well (it's the file with "base" in its name, on their respective folder), and name it accordingly after importing each one. Do the same to the bottom references as well, since we'll need them to not only see how the ankle will nicely connect, but to fix the normals as well.
👠Step 2:
Select your shoe mesh, hit TAB to go to Edit mode.
Select the first row of faces (tip: click on the X to view the mesh, and toggle X-Ray mode to easier select)
Go to Data tab, create a new vertex group, name it "calf", and click on assign. This way, Blender will know with what verts it will do stuff etc.
👠Step 3:
Hit TAB again to go back to object mode.
Click on Modifiers tab, click on Add Modifier, and select Shrinkwrap.
Now set the Wrap Method to Nearest Vertex, the Target to the feet reference (in my case, the TF one), and in Vertex Group, select the group you created and assigned the ankle verts.
And now, see the magic happens 😉 Mine is in different colors and wireframe to better show it.
Did it snapped nicely on place? If yes, Apply the modifier like the picture below.
👠Step 4:
Now, we're gonna fix the normals at the seams, following toadifylackoffantasy tutorial on it (it is truly a lifesaver!) One could try to fix it later on MTK, but IMO it's easier to solve the problem here before exporting the mesh.
Select the altered mesh, go to Edit mode, select again the first row (you can easily do it by clicking on Select right on the Vertex Groups menu). Then, in Vertex Groups menu, select the "calf" group and click on Remove. This will un-assign the verts to this group.
Now select only the first verts row on the ankle. Then select the "calf" group, then Assign.
Go back to Object mode, and click on Modifiers tab, then on Add Modifier, and on Data Transfer.
Set the Source to the matching bottom you imported previously (in my case, the TF), in Vertex Group select the group you created, tick Face Corner Data and expand the menu, then click on Custom Normals and in Mapping selec the Nearest corner and best matchin face normal.
Now see the nasty seam going away 😊
Is everything smooth? If yes, apply this modifier as well.
👠Step 5:
Now before exporting the altered mesh, click on Data tab, and in Vertex Groups, and delete the "calf" group by clicking on the Minus button. You must do it otherwise Mesh Toolkit won't let you convert the mesh to .wso
Now just click on Export on GEOM tools menu, and save the altered mesh in your project folder!
👠Step 6:
Now let's convert and make the morphs.
Open Mesh Toolkit, click on Conversion Tools tab, and on GEOM to TSRW WSO select your exported altered mesh, and click on Convert to TSRW and save it on your project folder.
Then go to the Auto tools for WSO tab, then on Auto-create Morphs tab, select the new .wso you just converted and your .wso reference, click on Create Morph Meshgroups and save the resulting file on your project folder.
Note: You can use the base geoms you download for this tutorial as reference instead of a .wso, just go to Auto tools for GEOM tab.
👠Step 7:
Now let's pack everything together!
Open TSRW, click on Create New Project, and then on New Import.
In the next screen select either the original package, or the Adult TSRW project from your shoe. This way, the program will clone it, and you won't need to export any texture or create presets again! Then click on Next all the way, and then in OK to clone it. If it asks you if it is a Sims 4 Package, click in NO.
Want to create a package that links the textures from the main Adult package? Then check out Danjaley's tutorial!
Untick the Young Adult and Adult ages, and tick the one you're working on (in my case, Teen), and watch the horror that it becomes.
Now go to the Mesh tab, select High level of detail in the dropdown menu, click on the import menu, and select your morphed .wso file!
It's done! Now export the package (or sims3pack) and test it in game!
If you're converting high-poly shoes, from now you can renumber its mesh if you wish.
And that's it! Now your teens and elders sims can enjoy some nice shoes as well! Hope it's useful for the fellow converters 🥰
Do you have any advice for getting started with sims 3 again? I've played it a lot growing up, also with mods. Now that I'm almost 30 (and tired of the sims 4...) I'm craving for the nostalgic feeling playing ts3! But I'm a bit overwhelmed where to start and how to set the game up again. I don't want to feel "bored" of it because of the cas issues (it just takes a loooot of patience because it's so slow)
I would appreciate any type of advice! Must have mods, where to find good cc etc :-)
hello! happy to hear you're trying out ts3 again˙ ᵕ˙
it's a fun game with lots to do as long as it's optimized!
there are a lot of good guides out there already so i'll just share what i personally have and use along with a few recs!
here's a great guide by @/sim-novels to get you started: how to install the sims 3 and make it run smooth
the performance boost patch collection by @/sonja92yu helps speed up save and loading times while reducing memory usage and in game crashes (at least, in my experience)
i edited my graphic rules based on this tutorial by @/gruesim
my nvidia control panel settings, a combination of sims3tutorialhub's and my own:
there are plenty of mod managers out there but i personally use and recommend granthes' cc magic out of all of them for the sole reason that it really does an excellent job organizing and merging cc without having to do it manually, especially if you like to download and remove cc regularly or have multiple saves. here is a tutorial by gruesim!
@/lazyduchess' smooth patch is already integrated in s3ss (see graphics & optimization) and having that speeds up cas significantly and loads patterns quickly (again, personal experience)
if cas is still slow, i recommend changing the ff settings in master controller:
show in compact form: accessories - false > true
show in compact form: clothing - false > true
cmar's xcas increases the number of facial and body sliders - though i already use nraas master controller for this; i use xcas for the expanded skintone panel and naked outfit
custom sliders - there's a looot out there. i'll just link my resources page which has links to mostly everything i use
face presets help you create some pretty sims! recs: @/kwimii999's and @/glossii's
this eyelash terminator by slamyy is a lifesaver. removes the hideous ea lashes for good
@/potato-ballad-sims' clear & bright is my current lighting mod. in the past i used: uranesia by @/nilxis and perfect day by brntwaffles. @/brntwaffles has a long list of gorgeous lighting mods too!
this is a good resource for comparisons of other really nice lighting mods out there to help you choose.
i use simsi45's improved environmental shadows (dynamic) and more light coming through windows by blyss
@/asabinsims' project renaissance makes a huge difference in plant and tree textures!
i use wasset's better sun and better rainbow from this environment pack and lyralei's snow but better textures!
for clouds i use @/linnlavendel's dishonored clouds, for night sky i use vaddish's twinkling stars. before i used brntwaffles' skyrim star field texture replacement
tfm mods (registration required) from bluegenjutsu and twoftmama - super helpful! the routing in ts3 is just awful. faves: slow motive decay, no route fail and foot tapping, route fix, no autonomous stereo, no autonomous streaking, no autonomous skinny dipping, no autonomous computer games and chat
@/ohrudi's less space required fixes pretty much a need for the same reasons above!
i also turn off autonomous actions in nraas retuner > settings > general > object/tunable xml
@/simsarahsarah shared their very useful nraas settings and i've copied some of them to my own!
phantom99's retuned ea story progression - i used to use nraas' story progression but it lagged the hell out of my game so i switched to this and it's been great so far!
@/thesweetsimmer111's mods are my absolute must-haves and really enhance gameplay! (i have all)
@/twinsimming's mods - faves: growing pains, acne and skincare, yoga mod
@/olomaya mods faves: toddler bed, more play playmat, get pumped, snowflake day activities
kapaer's no stretch children can lets kiddos do all sorts of tasks without the horrifying glitching
phantom99's fix for the pigtail glitch when sims age up
note there are tons of cc creators and converters out there, you'd just have to search yourself to find what suits your preference. these are just what i like and use.

The Actually Colour Me Chimney (Top) by eureka.rhea
"I've made a fully colourable 'Colour Me Chimney Top', as I was tired of not being able to change the colours of cap / crown and flues in the original.
This is a retexturing of the chimney top item from Sims Store content pack 'Brunch At The Old Mill', not a remodelling.
In bringing more usable and low poly hairs, here comes one of Skysims' oldest male hairs to exist, and with this edit, its fits much more to the head when we talk about not having wide heads for said sims :D

Do Not share my cc public before me, all my CC are available after a month.
Do Not convert my CC to other games but The Sims (ex: GTA V, IMVU, SL).
Do not Re-Upload my CC (Youtube packs, Sims3Planet, VK).
Recolors are allowed, just give me the credits.
Yeehaw a retexture. This hair begged to be fixed - it was so high up on the forehead that it gave your Sim a damn eighthead. I lowered it a bit, slapped a texture on, and here we are.
There is a BIT of clipping on the ear as shown. This may depend on you Sim’s ear size, so Dumbo beware. Other than that it seems to be fine.
MALE VERSION ONLY. I just wasn’t feeling this hair for female, but if anyone needs it I can do a quick fix.
A retexture & mesh edit + face texture repaint of the "Sweetly Swept Back" hairstyle from the store! This is one of my fave male hairstyles, I love the laid back yet classy slightly romantic vibes, and during periods I played with little CC I always saved this one for my faves.

Before & After:
Model is a male version of Bree Pistache (So yes, he looks a lot like my goldenhaired model, it's literally their parent)
LOTS of thanks to @sweetdevil-sims who helped me troubleshoot!
Hello , here we are with another house , as you can probably tell by the title , I was going for a kind of New England styled house and I really think it turned out quite nicely… yea.. not much else to say haha

THE TEA ROSES - 2br, 2.5ba Rowhouses by Iamsimming
20x30 Lot
I made these for my little world, Brightpoint, and originally it had a boatload of store content, but I went back through and cleared it all out, so the only thing you’re going to need to download is “The Good Fence” from MTS –> http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=372486
There is a shingle pattern and a stone pattern included in the sims3pack, and I’ve included all of the windows that you will need in a rar below. The roof is not included, so you’ll have to sort that yourselves.
You’re going to need World Adventures, Ambitions, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, University, and Island Paradise at the very least, though all EP’s were installed on my PC. Any missing EP content you may not have will be replaced with base game objects. Install the packages before you install the sims3pack!
Anything I may have missed, which is a big possibility knowing my own scatter-brained tendencies, just let me know.
EDIT: I guess they’re more ‘townhouses’ than 'rowhouses’, but, whatever. Ya’ll knew what I meant lol
Fully furnished, cc free, two storey family home. Three bedrooms (one with bunk bed and crib), three bathrooms, combined kitchen and dining room, living room etc etc. There is also some animal stuff scattered around the house, and a dog house in the backyard
Requires
Pets, supernatural and university
1.63 patch or up
If there’s anything causing problems (like the CFE stairs), let me know :) Enjoy!

!Do not re-upload or claim as your own! also, if you download it and post pictures of it here on simblr, please do tag the posts with ‘simsplification’ or the house name, I’d love to see c:
