List with all stories
y/n = your name
It was y/n and Emily’s one-year anniversary, and to say that Emily went over the top was a bit of an understatement. But y/n had dressed up for the occasion in her favorite outfit, sexy but understated. They were staying in after all, so her appearance was for Emily and Emily’s eyes only. When y/n knocked on Emily’s sleek apartment door, she was met first with a face full of flowers. Caught off guard, and as a bit of a joke, y/n said, “My my, what beautiful flowers. Have you turned your apartment into a garden for our anniversary, love?” Prentiss snorted and lowered the bouquet, saying, “Very funny, but I got these just for you. You’ve favorite flowers.” Y/n grinned and held up her gifts of a bottle of wine and some chocolate. Instead of awkwardly trying to hand the gifts to one another, the pair set the flowers, wine, and chocolate on Emily’s counter - they were both going to enjoy them after all. Once the gifts were accounted for, Em turned to y/n and pulled her into y/n into her arms. Emily’s soft scent of rose and teakwood wafted over y/n, making her melt into the embrace. Y/n moved, tilted her chin up, and kissed Emily long and deep, keeping them anchored together. The pair finally pulled back and y/n said, “Happy anniversary, darling.” Prenitss hummed and placed her forehead against y/n, repeating the words back to her girlfriend, “Happy anniversary.
When the couple pulled apart from their embrace, Emily walked y/n to the dining room as if y/n hadn’t been in her house hundreds of times before. The table was set with candles and gleaming silverware. Emily instructed y/n to stay right where she was in her chair and then moved out of sight for a minute. There was a soft clattering from the kitchen, one room over, and Em reappeared with a tray full of oysters and lemon wedges packed on ice. Y/n’s eyes lit up and she said, “I see we’re hitting at the greatest, or worst moments in our relationship. Let’s just say I’m happy that you were at that party and showed me how to eat an oyster before I made a fool of myself.” Prentiss chuckled, remembering the look of consternation on y/n’s face when she’d been faced down with her first plate of oysters at a cocktail party they had attended together. Now with adept hands. y/n squeezed lemon onto a shelled oyster and added a dab of hot sauce from the little Tabasco jar. Delicately, y/n held the shell and motioned for Emily to move toward her in her seat. Prentiss happily complied and opened her mouth for y/n, and she tipped the fresh oyster into her mouth. Emily sighed at the taste of the sea and lemon, plus the bit of spice from the hot sauce rolled down her tongue and throat.
Emily paired the shellfish with a sparkling white wine, and she and y/n cheered to one year together and got to reminiscing about their relationship so far. They’d gotten as far as the second date when the oysters and wine were finished. Again, Emily moved into the kitchen and then brought out a Dutch oven. Y/n was salivating even before Prenitss pulled off the lid and displayed her version of beef bourguignon. Emily retreated to the kitchen once more and arrived with a second tray of garlic asparagus. As y/n served Emily and her plates from the dishes on the table, y/n said, “Emily Prentiss, how much of that F.B.I. paycheck went into making this dinner? I’m beginning to think that I should start saving up for child support for the food baby I’m going to have after this meal.” Em smiled as she poured the red wine to pair with the second course and replied, “I got a good deal at the butchers, and don’t tell Julia Child, but I used cheep wine to make the sauce, so no need to worry about how much money went into this meal. I just wanted us to have a nice dinner without the bother of a restaurant.
By the time the dessert of pot de crème was laid on the table, y/n and Emily were cheerfully tipsy, but not so much that they were slurring or staggering, just that hint of inebriation that made the world seem more pleasant and warm. As y/n and Em ate their custard, y/n brought up the first time she’d met the B.A.U. Y/n was, and had always been, a bit self-conscious, so meeting the team had seemed like a really big and daunting step. Thankfully, JJ and Garcia had made the meeting easygoing and fun, and y/n hadn’t made a fool of herself in the least. In fact, Emily was so enamored with how the night had gone, she’d swooped y/n back to her apartment and made love to her for the first time. It was all lips and groping passion of having sex for the first time with someone, but the following morning, both women glowed with the effect of the intimacy, and both had agreed to make their relationship long-term. Emily finished her last spoonful of custard and crème and said, “As hard as I tried to pair the wines well with this meal, I couldn’t bring myself to buy a bottle of port for this dessert course. We both know it’d sit on the counter until we both have arthritis.” Y/n chuckled and looked Em in the eye, and in unison they both declared, “Port is disgusting.”
Y/n and Em had both learned of their disgust for the dessert wine port at an eventful wine tasting where the last sample was a rich, full-bodied port that both women struggled to swallow. It was a source of much laughter in the car ride back from that date. After the last bites of dessert were swallowed, Emily turned to y/n and said, “How about you go and find something for us to watch on TV while I make us a carpaccio? Y/n grinned and replied, “Coffee, this late? We’ll be up for hours.” At this reply, Emily winked and stated, “That’s kind of the point, love.” Hearing this statement, y/n’s core clenched. Em was always good about her foreplay, and it seems it was starting now. Y/n scurried to the next room to find some kind of reality love TV show for them to watch. Trash TV was one of their shared passions. Something about the drama, passionate kisses, and tearful confessions was just fun to watch together,
As the contestants of Love Island, or Love is Blind, or Bachelor in Paradise traipsed across the screen, y/n sat and sipped her cappuccino. Emily’s drink, however, was left on the table as she ate y/n over with a loving gaze. Just as y/n was about to make a comment on the show, Emily’s hand moved to the hem of y/n’s shirt/dress/skirt, and slipped under the band with deft fingers. Y/n’s comment was stopped mid-word as her mouth formed a little O of excitement as Em rubbed two fingers over her lace panties. Y/n was frozen as she held her coffee cup halfway to her lips. Prentiss leaned in close and murmured in y/n’s ear, “Don’t stop drinking on my behalf, sweetheart. Y/n swallowed, looked at Em, whose eyes had gotten darker somehow and nodded, replaying, “I’ll do my best.” Prentiss hummed and replied, “Good girl” as her fingers started circling y/n’s clit in tight little spirals.
It didn’t take long for y/n’s coffee to be forgotten either as Emily’s hand slid y/n’s panties aside and began rubbing y/n’s bare cunt. Em and y/n were locked in a deep kiss as y/n’s hand worked at Emily’s top and then massaged Prentiss’s breasts over her bra. When y/n was dripping into Em’s hand, the dark-haired agent got up and said, “Shall we take this to the bedroom? I’d love to fuck you on the couch, but I think it’s a bit more romantic in there.” Y/n nodded eagerly. Both women moved to the bedroom, y/n, a bit slower than Emily as she dropped her pants/skirt/dress to the floor. It wasn’t needed now anyway.
Inside the bedroom, flowers had been set on either side of the end table, and a few lamps were on for mood lighting. Although it wasn’t super bright in the room, the light was defuse around the space. Emily had the curtains open, and a beautiful view of the city could be seen out the window, but y/n and Em and eyes only for each other. Emily had y/n lying on the bed, legs hanging over the side as she pinned y/n’s arms above her head and kissed, their tongues colliding in hot breaths and pants. Emily pulled away and began softly kissing y/n down her jaw, then her neck, collarbone, and to the valley of her breasts. When y/n realized that Emily had no plans on stopping, y/n said in a small voice, “Em, could we… could we turn the lights off?” Em stopped her actions and released y/n’s hands. She knelt at the foot of the bed, and y/n sat up to look down at her. Emily smiled a soft smile and cupped y/n’s cheek with her hand and said, “Y/n, can we try with the lights on tonight? If you don’t like it after a while and it makes you uncomfortable, of course, we’ll turn off the lights, but tonight, I want to see your face when you moan my name into oblivion. Would you be willing to try it?”
Y/n hesitated. She had always felt a bit self-conscious about her body, having the lights off was a shield of sorts for her comfort, but the way Emily put it, and perhaps with help from the two glasses of wine, she plucked up her courage and said, “Sure, I’ll try, Em. You’ll make a hedonist of me yet, I swear.” Em chuckled and pushed y/n’s shoulder back to the bed and resumed her position of kissing down y/n’s center line. Y/n had placed her hand over her stomach, and Emily gently removed it, kissing over the swell over her belly from food, Emily looked up from her place and said, “You are allowed to have a stomach, You are allowed to eat good food, you are allowed to enjoy all the good things life gives you, and I love you for it.” Y/n gave a slight sniffle and tried not to burst into full tears, because sometimes it was hard for her to remember those things.
As Em kept moving down, she didn’t go straight for y/n’s core, which at this point was dripping. Instead, Emily used her hands to spread y/n’s thighs, which lay voluminously on the bed sheet, and nipped at the supple flesh around y/n’s panties. After a while of this, Emily helped y/n out of her soaked underwear and moved her head to y/n’s center. As soon as Em’s tongue met dripping flesh, y/n sighed and said, “Emily. Oh god.” Emily didn’t let up her pace as her tongue danced over folds and clit, circling and savoring y/n’s astringent juices. Emily made it a point to paint broad strokes over y/n’s folds and then circle y/n’s clit with her tongue and after a few minutes of this y/n’s was panting and came with a loud moan, fingers gripping the bed sheets as her body shook.
Emily sat up on the bed with pride as y/n’s eyes were blown wide and her chest heaved up and down with the aftershocks of her orgasm. Y/n turned her head and said, “That was so good, Em. Now I get to take care of you.” Prentiss put up a hand and said, “Not yet, my love. You’ve brought so much joy into my life, I’m going to make sure tonight is the best you’ve had. It’s not everything, but it’s something I can do to thank you for making my life more meaningful.” Y/n’s eyes widened as Emily licked her pointer and middle finger, making a show of her digits being phallic. Y/n propped up on her elbows and said, “I love the idea of this, Em, but I’ve never come twice in a night. I… I don’t know if I can.” Emily smiled and replied, “That’s not on you, darling, that’s on your partner. Let me walk you through it slowly. You can do it, I promise.”
Although Emily said walk, she really meant run, and she slid her fingers along y/n’s wet folds and sank them two knuckles deep, making y/n shiver with the change and sigh. Em stayed there for a second before pulling out and pushing back in further. This routine went on, and Em continued praising y/n: “My love, good girl, taking me so well, so wet for me.” By the time Em’s fingers were fully in y/n, the fire had come back to y/n’s core and was pooling once more at her center. Emily pumped her fingers in and out of y/n at a steady pace and when she added her other hand to the already sensitive bundle of nerves that was y/n’s clit, it sent y/n over the edge again, It was with bliss that Emily got to watch y/n writhe with pleasure on the bed moaning Emily’s name over and over again as the second orgasm crescendoed over y/n’s body.
The pair took a good ten minutes to relax before y/n said, Well thank you for keeping the light on, because it’s my turn to show you how much I love you too. Y/n pulled Emily off the mattress and reverently removed the rest of her clothes, kissing each part of the body that was now revealed to her. Then y/n pulled Emily onto the mattress before getting off and moving to the closet where Em kept her sex toys. Y/n selected Emily’s favorite purple dildo, whose girth and length could never be approximated with her small hands. Y/n did’t forget to gab lube, though she doubted she would need much, from when she’d kissed Emily’s cunt, it had been sopping wet.
Back on the bed y/n didn’t make a big show of lubing the dildo, instead she was efficient, Emily prefered a rougher, quicker fuck, and y/n was never one to dissapoint. Y/n straddled Em’s hips and rubbed the tip of the silicone dildo to Emily’s entrance before asking, “You’re going to be good for me? Yes.” Emily nodded enthusiastically and replied, “Yes, of course I’ll be good.” y/n smiled and moved the sex toy in just a fraction of the way up Emily’s pussy. Immediately Emily clenched around the toyand y/n said, “Easy girl, we’re just getting started. It was a dance of pushes and pulls of the dildo into Em’s hole that drove Emily crazy. By the time y/n had built up a speed and rhythm, Prentiss was begging to get off, but y/n just waited, knowing Emily’s orgasm would be all the stronger if she held out. “Y/n, please, oh please let me get off, Emily begged, even though it was just a game they played. She could let go at any point. Something in y/n’s eyes glinted, and y/n replied, “I think you’re being naughty, maybe I ought to punish you a bit.” Y/n leaned forward and nipped Emily’s left nipple and then ran her tongue over the taught bud of Emily’s breast. This was the tipping point, and Emily cried out: “Oh god,” as she climaxed hard.
When the toy was out of Emily and she and y/n lay next to each other on the bed, panting and basking in the afterglow of their sex, y/n could still hear the TV playing the next episode of whatever show they had been watching in the next room. There would be lots of dishes to do later in the night or the morning, but for now, the whole earth felt a bit softer, like it was wrapped in a blanket, and Emily was the only thing that mattered. Y/n nuzzled up to Emily and whispered, “Happy anniversary, sweetheart.” Emily only hummed and kissed y/n again.

A/N: Hi all! I hope you are all doing very well! I’ve had this idea for a long while, and I’m happy to finally get it out there. If you can’t tell I’m a fan of musicals, and one of my favorites is The Music Man, the title is what inspired this fic, and it’s one of my favorites in that musical. I know this is really short for me, but I hope that you enjoy this fic, and if you do, please like, share, and comment. Love Levi - ❤️

y/n = your name
Aaron and the BAU had been following the Montoya family for over two months now. The BAU, along with the U.S. Marshals in Virginia, had all taken shifts during the week to make sure the small family of three was protected 24 hours a day. As the days turned into months, the family started building roots and getting footing in their new hometown with their new identities. The family consisted of Mrs. Montoya, her seventeen-year-old daughter, and her nine-year-old son. There had been a Mr. Montoya, but the idea of witness protection had been too much for the thirty-three-year-old pharmacist. This had split the family in two and led Mr. and Mrs. Montoya into a rocky separation, and now a divorce was on the horizon. Hotch had seen many couples split over witness protection, to be asked to move states over and to give up their old life was too much of an ask for a lot of people.
It was no surprise that Mrs. Montoya had agreed to the program, with two young children and a maniacal serial killer targeting their family, it seemed like the only safe option. Aaron’s hands tightened against the steering wheel of the nondiscript car he was driving that night. The fact that Haley and Jack had also gone into witness protection meant that the subject was still painful to him as well. However, being in the FBI and trying to hunt down Foyette was slightly different than the situation that the Montoyas had found themselves in. In his own head for a minute, Hotch almost missed that Mrs. Montoya had gotten out of her car with Lucas following behind her. Aaron got out of his car and locked it behind him as he followed at a distance as the adult and child walked toward the theater building of Charles J. Colgan High School. Aaron followed a bit behind. Mrs. Montoya looked behind her and spotted Hotch, who nodded that he was there for them.
Walking into the theater building the family moved to the stage where rehearsal was already starting up. Despite his short stint at his new school, Lucas Montoya ended up getting a spot as Winthrop Paroo in the large high school production of The Music Man. Aaron realized he wasn’t one to judge, but the cast putting on the musical wasn’t the best he’d ever seen, and the production was headed to hell week, apparently vastly unprepared for tech or dress rehearsal. Anytime Hotch had these thoughts, he had to remind himself that his performance as Pirate Number Three in his high school’s production of The Pirates of Penzance had been nothing spectacular either. As Aaron settled into his seat at the far back left-hand side of the theater, he settled in for another night of Seventy Six Trombones. This order repeated for the next few weeks, and despite his earlier hesitations, the cast and crew had come a long way from when he started his Wednesday night observations.
However, the routine changed when, the following week, Hotch was introduced to a new character. Instead of Mrs. Montoya, but a woman that he’d never seen before. Moving quickly, Aaron intercepted the woman who was leading Lucas toward the high school. Emily had followed the Montoya car to the school where Aaron was waiting and hadn’t texted Aaron any change in schedule, but not to scare Lucas, Hotch didn’t outright tackle the strange woman. He did, however, very tightly grab her upper forearm and pull her away from a confused-looking Lucas.
“Ow. Hey!” the woman protested as Hotch’s tight grip didn’t let up, and he said, “Who are you, and why are you here instead of Marigold Montoya?” The woman looked at Hotch with eyes that looked scared as she said, “I’m y/n, y/l/n. I’m Lucas’s aunt.” Giselle got sick before rehearsal, so her mom decided to stay home with her daughter. My sister called me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to take my nephew to his practice. I mean, I can’t really see them anymore. I jumped at the chance to see Lucas.” Aaron couldn’t know if this was a rouse or not, and he said, “All family visits have to be pre-approved by the Marshall's Office. Did you know that?” y/n looked hesitant and replied, “No. I… I just got a text from my sister, and I wanted to see my nephew. I’m sorry. Should I call Mari?” Hotch let out a long sigh and said, “Not yet. Let’s get Lucas into rehearsal, and then I’ll make a call. I know this isn’t on you, and it can be hard in situations like this. Let’s get inside, and then we can clarify some things.”
After Lucas had gotten inside, Hotch and y/n stood at the far end of the theater as Aaron called Emily. It took a few calls to the Marshall, Prentiss, and Mrs. Montoya to clarify what had happened. Giselle had indeed gotten sick, and Mrs. Montoya had called y/n to take Lucas to the high school. Mrs. Montya had asked Emily if that was okay, but had forgotten about the need to ask permission beforehand. Prentiss had okayed the visit, but forgot to call Hotch and let him know. After all of those calls and clarification, Hotch was reassured the y/n was who she said she was, and he apologized for his earlier actions, stating there had been a misunderstanding. y/n was cool with it,t saying, “I don’t mind. You did have me worried there for a second, but I’d rather know people like you are looking out for Lucas.
There was an awkwardness between Aaron and y/n as the rehearsal continued. y/n got a text from Marigold that Giselle had seemed to be feeling better and that Mrs. Montoya would be able to pick up her son from rehearsal when it was over. The practice wrapped up an hour later, and as y/n waited with Lucas for her mom to pick him up, the two caught up. Aaron was standing close enough to hear their conversation. It started out simple enough: how was school, any new friends, that kind of thing. But there was a long pause, and the young boy asked, “Is daddy ever coming home? I miss him. Does he not love us anymore because we’re in trouble?” The words almost bowled y/n over. Not only did they shock y/n, but Hotch wondered how the young woman a few yards away from him was going to answer such a query. Hotch looked over for an instant, but looked away when he caught y/n looking at him. After a moment, y/n replied, “Your Dad still loves you very, very much, Lucas. I wish I could describe it to you all right now, but maybe one day, when you’re older, you’ll understand better. Maybe when it’s safer, I can explain it to you.”
Lucas pouted and said, “Everyone always says that. ‘When you're older, when your older’ blah, blah, blah. It feels like I’m never going to be old enough.” y/n looked a bit dumbfounded, and before she could reply, Mrs. Montoya pulled up in her Nissan. Lucas hugged y/n quickly before saying, “Bye, Aunt y/n. See ya later,” as if they hadn’t had a very hard conversation just now. The little boy bounded to his mom’s car, got in, and the silver car pulled out of the lot and onto the street.
Aaron watched as y/n moved over to the side of the building. Hotch moved back to this car and called Emily. She picked up on the second ring, asking, “Aaron, is something wrong? Did something happen at rehearsal?” Hotch let out a sigh and said, “No,o everything's fine. I was wondering if you could come and follow Mrs. Montoya home? There’s something I need to check up on here.” There was a pause, like Emily was thinking. Finally, she said, “Yeah, I’ve got you,” without asking further questions. The phone call ended, and Aaron moved back to the side of the building.
y/n was a little way down the walkway. y/n was sitting on the ground, knees to chest, and crying like a child. When Aaron got close, y/n looked up at him, but couldn’t seem to stop herself from crying. Hotch got close and asked, “Mind if I sit?” y/n sniffled and nodded no. Hotch shot y/n a little smile and sat down on the sidewalk next to y/n, who ran a sleeved under her nose. After a moment, y/n said, “Why is it so unfair?” Aaron bit the inside of his cheek before replying, “I know it’s unfair, to you, to Lucas, to everyone. It’s just how life is when you’re trying your best and there still aren’t very good options.” Y/n sniffled and said, “Do you always have answers to everything?” In a sarcastic tone. Hotch let out a huff, and without even really thinking about it, he said, “Hardly. I’ve just recently had to tell my own son why Mommy and Daddy aren’t seeing each other right now, so I guess I can relate to Lucas a little bit.” The statement left both parties stunned for a moment.
Aaron hadn’t planned on saying something so personal, and neither had y/n. Trying to cut the tension that had suddenly arisen, y/n asked, “And how did that conversation go exactly?” Aaron shook his head and said, “About as well as your conversation just went. And by the way, I think you did a pretty good job.” y/n turned to really look at Aaron for the first time and said, “Will I ever get to see my sister and nephew again?” Hotch waited a few seconds before finally saying, “Probably not. I’m sorry.” Y/n looked down at the ground and replied, “It just hurts to be cut off from them like this. I know if I keep seeing them, I put them and myself in danger, it’s just not, not fair, is all.” Aaron nodded in agreement, he knew how it felt personally. Finally, he replied, “You could talk to someone about it if you liked. You don’t have to carry it all by yourself, if you know.” Y/n nodded and stood up, brushing any dust and dirt off the seat of her pants. Hotch followed behind. Y/n looked at Aaron and said, “I appreciate you talking to me. I know you didn’t have to. Take care of my family, please.” Hotch nodded and said, “I will,” and with that, both Aaron and y/n moved away from each other, each back to their own painful lives.

y/n = your name
y/f/d = your favorite drink
Every other month, the girls from the BAU got together and did something. The agenda for the night was going to a dance club, getting shots, and chatting about what was happening in all of their lives at the time. Whenever the plan was just a club, everyone would go over to JJ’s, pregame, and get ready together. Penelope and Emily were sharing the mirror while JJ and y/n were slipping into their dresses. Y/n was pulling up a skimpy, skintight y/f/c dress and then slipped on some heels. After this was accomplished, y/n took a sip of her wine, and then JJ turned to y/n and asked, “Y/n, can you help zip me up?” Y/n smiled and nodded, walking behind JJ’s dark blue bandage dress to pull the zip over her curvy body. When that was finished, y/n looked over at the mirror and asked, “Penelope, when you’re done, can I steal your spot?” Garcia paused her lipstick application mid-stroke and replied, “You got it, sweetheart.”
Emily was putting on eyeliner and looked at y/n in the mirror and said, “Speaking of you, y/n, how’s that crush on Spencer going? Are you ever going to ask him out?” Hearing this, y/n flushed profusely before stammering, “Okay, okay. Crush is a bit teenager-ish. I have a mild interest in our resident genius, but calling a crush…” JJ snorted and said, “I don’t know what you call stumbling over your words and smiling like a maniac every time you and Reid are in the same car, or he likes one of your ideas.” Y/n deflated a little bit and took a longer swig of wine before replying, “Alright, I like him, but it’s like that one line in Dr. Who that River Song says. You know, the sad one about sunsets.” Prentiss and JJ looked at y/n like she’d grown a second head and replied, “Not to call you a nerd, y/n, but we in fact don’t know what you’re talking about.” Y/n sighed and ran a hand through her hair before explaining: “Okay, well, Reid would know what I’m talking about, but there’s this sad line that a character, River Song, says about the Doctor. She says ‘When you love the Doctor, it’s like loving the stars themselves. You don’t expect a sunset to admire you back.”
There was a pause as the other women took in and tried to understand the quote. After a few moments of silence, JJ smiled and replied, “Y/n, Spencer’s not a sunset. I think if you asked him out, you’d find that he can love you back a whole lot.” Garcia tagged on and said, “Plus, what do you have to lose by asking him out?” Y/n rolled her eyes and said, “What do I have to lose? The dynamic with the team, my friendship with Spencer? What if I tell him I like him and he doesn’t reciprocate? It could change everything on the way we interact, and it would be awkward, so basically the end of the world for me.” The blush had returned to y/n's face, and Penelope moved from her spot at the vanity and patted y/n on the shoulder before saying, “The mirror’s all yours. And y/n, try not to keep those feelings bottled up for too long. I find it does more damage to keep things inside than just admitting the truth to the other person, no matter what the fallout is.”
The club was a lot of fun, with drinks, dancing, and plenty of girl talk. One weird guy hit on the BAU ladies, but they put him in his place quickly. When it was all said and done, the members all Ubered home to sleep. Thankfully, they had gone out on a Friday night, so the weekend promised the opportunity to sleep in late. Even though that was the plan, and it was 1:30 AM, y/n was in her bed trying to get comfortable, but Penelope's words from earlier in the night kept rattling in her head over and over again. Perhaps it was because y/n was a bit tipsy still, or she really was taking Garcia’s advice to hear, that caused y/n to pull her phone from her charger and dial Reid.
Spencer had had a normal night. He’d cooked some pasta, written his mother a letter, reread a chapter of Anti-Oedipus, and called it a night. The genius had found it a tad bit hot in his apartment, but was too lazy to move back to his living room to turn the temperature down. Instead, he stripped down to his boxers and called it good. Reid was in a light state of sleep when he got the call. It was natural for Spence to think that it was Aaron calling to say they had a new cas,e so when he answered the phone and said, “When do you need me in the office by Hotch?” He was surprised when there was a pause and finally a soft voice on the other line saying, “Actually it’s, um, y/n. I couldn’t sleep.” Reid was already sitting up and turning on the light when he realized he’d made a mistake. Spencer sat back in his bed, balls of his feet brushing the wood floor.
“Are you okay, y/n? You sound sad?” There was another pause, and y/n replied, saying, “I guess I am sad. Sorry, Spencer. I don’t know why I really called you. Now my fucked up sleep is going to fuck up your sleep too.” It sounded to Reid like y/n was going to hang up, so he quickly replied, “No, no, I don’t mind. Where are you? Do you want to go out?” … Y/n took an audible breath and quizzically asked, “Go out?” Reid banged his palm against his head and said, “Not ‘go out’ go out. Just, you know, get out of your apartment?” Spencer had to assume that y/n was in her apartment even though she hadn’t told him where she was. There was another pause and y/n sounded a bit disappointed as she said, “Oh, sure. That sounds nice. What’s even open at this time apart from a gas station?” Reid chuckled and replied, “Well, there’s a small coffee shop that manages to stay open 24/7. Not sure how they’re not losing money by doing that, but anyway, we could go there? I can send you the address?” Y/n hummed and said. “Yeah, sounds good, but um, Spencer, could you come and pick me up. I think I’m still a little bit tipsy from my night out. I don’t want to risk a ticket, and you know an Uber will cost an arm and a leg right now.” Reid was happy to say, “You got it, y/n. See you about twenty.”
After a few moments of waiting, y/n put on some comfy clothes, grabbed her handbag, and headed for the living room, flipping a few lights on as she went. Slumped on the couch, y/n wondered when the hell she and Reid would talk about this late hour, and why he was being so nice right now. Not that he hadn’t been nice before, he was always kind, at least to her, but this was different than a case, and she was so new to the team that she wasn’t sure of her footing yet. Did the young Dr. court every new arrival to the BAU? Before y/n’s thoughts could spiral further, there was a soft beep-beep from outside announcing Reid’s arrival.
In the car, y/n seemed distracted to Spencer, almost agitated, like something was eating away at her sharp sense of self. If Reid had been a stoner, he wasn’t, nor never had been, he’d have given y/n a blunt to smoke just to take the edge off of her. But he had no such drugs to offer. He hoped that he could crack whatever was bothering y/n. When it came to cases, those, those were easy to solve, people, and their personal problems were harder for Spencer to read. Reid also realized that perhaps taking y/n to a coffee shop was not the best for her personal state. What if the caffeine only made her more jittery? But Spencer thought back to all the cases where y/n had drunk a boatload of coffee, it never seemed to make her more off-kilter than before, and he hoped it would be the same this time.
At the coffee shop, Reid parked and opened the door for y/n. They moved inside the quaint little hole in the wall and ordered - Flat white for Reid and y/f/d for y/n. As the pair settled down at a small table and waited for their drinks, there was an awkward silence until y/n said, “Sorry for getting you out of bed so late. I don’t know what I was thinking, calling you like it was an emergency or something.” Spencer let out a small sigh that could have been a laugh and said, “It’s fine, y/n. I’m never that far away from being awake with my insomnia, and I’m happy to help get you out. Not just of your house, but maybe your head too? What’s going on up there anyway?” Y/n let out a genuine sigh and could very much say, ‘Well I like you and Penny, Em, and JJ are on my ass about it, so I ended up calling you instead of any of them,’ so she opted for “I don’t know, well I do know, I just don’t know how to say it.” Y/n let out an ugh and pushed a hand through her hair before continuing, “You ever feel like River Song in that episode of Dr. Who, the one about the sunset not admiring you back?”
Reid didn’t even wait a moment before replying, “Of course. I’ve felt that way a lot of times.” The way that Reid made the comment had y/n almost choke on her drink. She coughed a few times before saying, “What do you mean, of course? Spencer, you do know you’re like perfect, right?” Spencer chuckled and responded, “I’m just human, y/n. That means that I am very, very flawed.” Y/n snorted and retorted, “Flawed my ass. You’re a genius, the youngest person to be admitted to the FBI and the BAU, and you can read ungodly fast. How is that not perfection?” As the words slipped out of y/n’s mouth, her semi-confession caused her to flush, which she tried to hide with a napkin for a moment before she realized it only made matters worse.”
This time Spencer took a bit longer to respond before he said, “Yes, those are all parts of me. That still makes me far from perfect. Besides, you got into the FBI and the BAU too, y/n, and you're better at math than I am. Plus, you’ve never struggled with a drug addiction, unless you’re hiding something major from me.” Y/n nodded her head no and continued to blush even worse than before after all the compliments Reid had piled on her. Spencer could deduce enough from y/n’s flushed expression that she was keen on him, and asked, “This man, or woman. The sunset, do I know them?” Y/n’s jaw just about hit the floor before she managed to pick it up and put it back in place on her face. Flustered and not liking how fast this conversation was going, she simply said, “You might have heard of him. I don’t know Reid, I just get lonely sometimes. I think I’m broken in some way.”
Hearing this, Spencer frowned and replied, “You’re not. You’re not broken, just you. Just human. And about the loneliness. You don’t have to be, not with me. Not while I’m here.” Spencer reached his large, slender hand across the table, a small offering for her to take if she wanted it. And upon a short reflection, y/n didn’t want to take it, so she did.

The unsettling sensation that you are never able to fully access the past; that once you are departed from an event, some essential quality of it is lost forever.
A reminder to remember: just because the sharpness of sadness has faded does not mean that it was not, once, terrible. It only means that time and space, creatures of infinite girth and tenderness, have stepped between the two of you, and they are keeping you safe as they were once able to" - Carmen Maria Machado

“Do you think love can save it?” Y/n asked Emily. Prentiss hadn’t meant to slip into her own thoughts, but she had, so she turned her head toward y/n and asked, “Sorry, what was that you said?” Y/n gave a small sigh and replied, “Do you think if I love her enough, my relationship can be saved?” Prentiss bit the inside of her mouth and replied, “Honestly, y/n, if I had that answer, I don’t think I’d be single right now.” That at least got a small laugh out of y/n.
Six Hours Earlier
The cup was held in front of everyone by Rossi, who said, “Alright, team, pick a popsicle stick. If you get the short stick, you're stuck with the probie for the day.” Everyone groaned, but put their hands into the red solo cup and pulled out a stick. JJ, Derek, Aaron, Spencer, and Garcia all gave a sigh of relief, and Emily scrunched her face in disdain as she said, “Oh, come on, guys. This is so unfair. I have files left to do from the last case. I can’t be a victim in a practice activity. I’m already a victim of this paperwork.” Morgan chuckled and replied, “Too bad, sweetheart, it’s your lucky day not to do any work. Just as Prentiss started ugh-ing, she stopped herself as the other victim she was going to be attached to walked into the bullpen. Emily knows y/n by reputation only; she was the top recruit in the N.A.T. program, and because of her high rank, she was also spared from a day of playing search and rescue. Hotch leaned toward Prentiss and said, “Well, Prentiss, have fun today.” His dry humor didn’t go over super well with Emily as the rest of the BAU dispersed back to their desks.
Y/n was a bit awestruck at seeing the BAU in action. This team was legendary by name and reputation alone in the FBI. Before y/n could start drooling or asking questions, a sharply dressed woman, and not any woman, the Emily Prentiss, was walking toward her. Y/n put on a brave face and extended a hand, saying, “Good morning, Agent Prentiss, I’m y/n y/l//n, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Emily reciprocated the handshake and said, “We, well, I’ve been expecting you. I hear you have our instructions for the day with you?” Y/n nodded and pulled her backpack in front of her chest and unzipped the front, producing a folder. Em noticed that y/n was juggling multiple things in her hands while trying to produce their instructions. Prentiss smiled and asked, “Would you like to set your things down at my desk? It might be easier to get that paper you’re looking for.” Em couldn’t help but notice the gleam in y/n’s eyes as she was still looking around the room. The words took a moment to register, but y/n finally replied, “Oh, yeah sure. That would be nice.” Prentiss led y/n to her desk and y/n, rather ungracefully, set all of her belongings on the already full surface of the desk.” Y/n took a deep breath and said, “I suppose I’m not making that good of an impression, sorry.” Emily smiled and replied, “You don’t need to apologize. This place is kind of captivating. Now, let’s see what our ‘assignment’ is, okay?”
Y/n nodded, relieved that she wasn’t making a total fool of herself before pulling out the needed document. It wasn’t very official-looking, but the assignment had the N.A.T. seal on it, and Emily looked over y/n’s shoulder as y/n read:
Assignment: An Agent from the BAU, and a Potential Agent y/l/n will move to the tenth floor of the Quanitco Field Office and stay in the mechanical closet until you are found by the N.A.T. trainees. The Agent from the BAU will be allowed to take their cellphone, but it must remain on silent mode. For the sake of realism, the pair of Agent and potential Agent will need to have one hand zip-tied together (we recommend the nondominant hand). This is a standard victim finding and recovery training exercise.
Emily muttered under her breath, “You’ve got to be kidding, the mechanical closet on the tenth floor?”
Spencer who’s desk was next to Emily’s heard Prentiss’s comment and said, “Damn, tough luck, Em. The tenth floor is being renovated, and the AC is out.” Prentiss groaned at the comment, and y/n looked at the pair like she’d stepped into something she wasn’t privy to. Emily finally remembered that y/n was there and turned, stating, “Sorry, y/n. I’m not angry at you. I just don’t love the idea of wasting the day in a closet with no AC.” Y/n gave a small shrug. In her heart, she felt like she was somehow responsible for putting the senior agent in this position, even though it really wasn’t her fault. After a beat of silence, y/n put on a hesitant smile and replied, “Well, should we get going? I believe the ‘search and rescue is about to start in half an hour.” Emily nodded and led y/n to the elevator that would take them to the tenth floor.
The tenth floor looked like an abandoned building. There were dust motes and plaster moving around as the pair moved down the hallway. A few uncovered lights flickered ominously as y/n and Emily arrived at the electrical closet. A janitor had been in earlier that morning and unlocked the door ahead of the duo. Prentiss opened the door to the closet and eyed the small space. It became clear to both women that it was going to be a tight, warm few hours that they were going to be locked up together. At least a single light bulb was on from the ceiling, illuminating the cramped space. Half as a joke, Emily extended her hand and told y/n, “After you.” Y/n chuckled and moved to the left side of the space. Prentiss followed after and closed the door behind them. Y/n was basically chest to chest with Emily in the small space as she pulled out the one ziptie they were required to wear. Prentiss wordlessly held out her left hand and y/n clumsily attached herself to the agent. After another beat of silence, y/n tried to lighten the mood by saying, “This feels like the punchline to a bad joke. Two FBI Agents walk into a bar handcuffed…” Y/n stopped after that because she didn’t have a punchline. Emily chuckled and replied, “Yeah, it does. Let’s hope it doesn’t take more than an hour for your classmates to find us.”
One Hour Waiting
After an hour of standing, y/n and Emily gave up and turned back to back and sat on the ground with their legs bunched up near their chests, not fully comfortable. At this point, Prentiss and y/n had gone through most of the pleasantries of conversation. What N.A.T. training was like, what the strangest case Emily had worked on was like, what living in D.C. was like on their pay. Y/n sighed and closed her eyes, saying, “You know I wanted to join the military when I was in high school, but I’m glad I went the F.B.I. route instead.” Emily hummed and asked, “Why’d you want the military, and why pick the F.B.I. instead?” Y/n rubbed her right hand over her face, wiping away the bead of sweat accumulated there, and replied, “I had problems when I was a kid, wanted to get away from home. And honestly, why the F.B.I. I mean you’re going to laugh, but I watched all those crime shows in college and decided I was going to be the next Sherlock Holmes or something.”
Emily did chuckle at that response and said, “Well, you’re top of your class. That’s something at least.” Y/n smiled at that response, but Prentiss couldn’t see it. Y/n thought for a moment and asked, “Did you want to be in the B.A.U.? Was that your plan when you got to the F.B.I.?” Emily paused, she didn’t know how much to share, but decided to go pretty surface level with her response, and she replied, “It was half luck and half timing. A position opened up at the B.A.U., and I needed a job, and I had the skills needed for an important case. Not that I’m bragging, but I had to earn my place on the team, and I ended up doing that. It’s all about impressing the right people, and a bit of leverage where it’s needed. The B.A.U. might not have been my plan, but it’s where I’m at now, and I wouldn’t change that for anything now.”
Two Hours Waiting
Emily was about board to tears at this point. Not that she couldn’t handle small talk, but doing so for what seemed like hours on end was more than a little annoying. But Prentiss had other problems now, apart from sharing pleasantries with y/n. The rumor mill in the Quanitico Office was ever churning, and when there wasn’t any good tea on the agents, the focus often found its place on the N.A.T. trainees. Emily had heard rumors about y/n’s relationship being on the rocks for a few weeks now, and petty as that fact was, Prenitss couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Perhaps it was because y/n was openly a lesbian and queer that made the rocky telationship such a topic of conversation in the office and in Em’s mind. Emily knew that if she was magically y/n’s younger age again, she might not have the guts to be openly gay in what could be considered a bit of a homophobic workplace like the F.B.I. Of course, the organization had all the rules and regulations about diversity and equality, but that didn’t mean that internally the structure could be a bit rotten. Emiky’s bisexuality was known about by the team, but otherwise, she kept those cards close to her chest.
Emily sighed and leaned her head back on y/n’s shoulder. They had started doing that on and off after the first hour as a way to stretch the neck, with the permission of the other. When Em closed her eyes and began to drift, her mouth hadn’t caught up with her brain, and she said aloud, “I hear your girlfriend’s a bit of a tool.” As soon as the words were out of her lips, Prentiss sat ramrod straight, as did y/n. “Excuse me?” Y/n asked in the semidarkness. Emily swallowed heavily and said, “Y/n, I am so, so sorry. I didn’t mean to say that.” Clearly offended, y/n replied, “My relationship has nothing to do with you, or this rather pointless waiting. Don’t bring it up again,” Emily nodded vehemently and said, “I’m sorry, I won’t. That was wrong of me,” In the stillness, y/n whispered, loud enough for Em to hear the hurt in her voice, “It was.”
Three Hours Waiting
There was silence for the next sixty minutes or so, not that either Emily or y/n were counting the minutes. Those just seemed to slip on and on like sand in an infinite hourglass. While they sat, Prentiss internally berated herself for her big mouth, and y/n reflected on what it meant that such a senior agent would know about her personal life.
Four Hours Waiting
Y/n was clearly upset by Agent Prentiss’s comment, but the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to know what Emily had heard about her relationship. y/g/f wouldn’t be happy at all to know that there were speculations at work about them, and somehow that information always got out. Even if y/g/n didn’t work at or near the orbit of the F.B.I. Trying to assess the damage, y/n hesitantly asked, “It’s none of your business… but, what are people saying about me and my partner?”
Emily bit the inside of her cheek. She wanted to say that it was nothing, really nothing, but that wasn’t the truth, and after her stupid blunder, y/n deserved at least that. With a sigh, Prentiss replied, “Well, from what I’ve heard, people think that your girlfriend is a bit controlling and mean. I mean that’s just what I’ve heard,” There was a long pause before Em tacked on softly, “Some people are worried about you.”
Emily’s words made y/n stiff. It was worse than she’d thought. Y/n had taken great pains to hide what was happening with her girlfriend. Making sure that she never met any of her colleagues. She also rarely talked about y/g/n. But no matter where y/n went or who she hung out with, it always seemed to come up: her relationship problems. It was like cigarette stink on a jacket. No matter how many times you washed it, the smell was always there. The silence crept up on the women again, and it stayed, but this time not so long.
Five Hours Waiting
Consciously, y/n would never say she had to defend her relationship, but subconsciously, that was exactly what was happening as y/n said, “I love her. Or I think I love her.” The words came out soft, hesitant. y/n didn’t know why she was having this conversation, or where it would lead. For her part, Emily acted with tact as she replied, “It really is none of my business, y/n, but you’re welcome to talk about it if you want to. Unlike some other people in this office, I promise I can keep my mouth shut.” That response got a bit of a chuckle out of y/n, and despite her earlier anger, y/n felt that she really could trust Emily. “Do you ever start a relationship and everything is sunshine, warm breezes, but the limerance period wears off, and you start seeing holes, and no matter how hard you try to bail the water out of the boat, there always seem to be more and more holes. And the holes are never her fault. It’s always you?”
The words hung in the air like a wound, and it became clear to Emily that y/n was wounded. She was trying her best. Perhaps it was the waiting, or the heat, but honestly came easy as Emily said, “You know the first time I dated a woman I thought nothing could go wrong.” Y/n didn’t immediately follow up with a question. She let the information sit, let Emily continue. “I was through with men at that point. They were all self-serving, inconsiderate assholes and I just knew a woman would treat me right. There wouldn’t be fights about the trash and dishes. There would be mutual affection. We could actually have a fun date night. When the first argument happened with my first girlfriend, my world broke a little. It wasn’t supposed to be like that. This was supposed to be different.”
Y/n sat and absorbed the words like they were a lifeline. Because she had felt the exact same way. After a beat, y/n asked, “Did you make up with your girlfriend? Because I try so hard to be what my girlfriend wants, and the more I think I’m getting there, the more she seems to hate me.” Emily gave a hum and replied, “We did make up. We had just had a quarrel. A small thing in the grand scheme of things. We ended up breaking up for mutual reasons later on. But y/n, there’s a difference between a small fight and your partner hating you. Or you feel like they hate you. You shouldn’t feel like you have to change for anyone.”
Six Hours Waiting
“Do you think love can save it?” Y/n asked Emily. Prentiss hadn’t meant to slip into her own thoughts, but she had, so she turned her head toward y/n and asked, “Sorry, what was that you said?” Y/n gave a small sigh and replied, “Do you think if I love her enough, my relationship can be saved?” Prentiss bit the inside of her mouth and replied, “Honestly, y/n, if I had that answer, I don’t think I’d be single right now.” That at least got a small laugh out of y/n.
Just as y/n was about to say something else, there was the resounding crash of plywood hitting the floor and a muffled call of “Clear.” It seems that y/n and Emily were finally being saved. It took another thirty minutes for the N.A.T.s to find and help the pair to their feet, and the first thing that both women did once they were out of the fake survivor situation was go to the bathroom. Back at Emily’s desk, where y/n had stashed her things, Prentiss slid over a piece of paper with her cell number on it. Despite how annoyed Emily was for having a day wasted, she found that she wanted to keep up with y/n, if y/n wanted to. Y/n smiled as she slipped the paper into her jeans pocket, and Em said, “Text me anytime.”
Three Weeks Later
Y/n moved to the track where she could already see Emily waiting for her. They weren’t really going to work out. Just walk and talk, then maybe get coffee after. Y/n had broken up with y/g/f a week ago, and the sting was still sharp. Things still reminded y/n of her ex all the time. But it was for the best. Hate never paired with love very well, she came to find out. Despite the pain, y/n felt considerably lighter, and as she moved toward Emily and smiled, she was happy for the first time in months.

Prompt: What happens when the reader has a kink that Aaron doesn’t - Pejoration
Pairing: Aaron x Non!BAU-Reader. The reader uses she/her pronouns.

A/N: Hi loves! First off, this story is 18+, minors DNI. Please respect this boundary. Content warning after the cut. I hope you are all doing very well! I liked the idea of Aaron having a different sex preference than the reader, and how he makes it work for both of them so they’re satisfied. Pejoration means that the connotation of a word declines over time (often this is associated with gender). I hope that you enjoy this fic, and if you do, please like, share, and comment. Love Levi - ❤️
“You don’t deserve my dick in your hole, you dirty whore, you better thank me for what I’m giving you,” Aaron grunted as he pushed his member deeper into y/n who was squirming on the mattress beneath him. Y/n let out an expectant breath and replied, “Please. I’ll do anything you ask. Just don’t stop.” Aaron pulled all the way out, his dick slick with y/n’s lubricating secretions. Repositioning his member at y/n’s entrance, he paused, not moving for a second like he was frozen in time. Expectant, y/n looked up at Hotch from the bed and said in a soft voice, “Sweetheart, everything alright?” Aaron gave his head a little shake as if resetting, before he slipped back into y/n with ease. He rested his weight down comfortably on top of y/n’s, resting his head in the cock of her neck before he said, “Sorry honey, I can’t keep up the dirty talk. You know, speaking to you like that is hard for me.”
Y/n hummed, nuzzling her face in the crown of Aaron’s head and said, “That’s okay. We can just make love today, you don’t have to fuck me if you can’t do it. I appreciate you trying again today. I know it’s hard for you to speak to me like that.” Aaron nodded in acknowledgement as y/n placed her hands under Aaron’s ass to encourage him to keep pumping gently in and out of her. y/n relaxed into the rhythm and moved her hands to Aaron’s back as he picked up the pace.
Hotch and y/n had always had different styles in bed, and much of the time they did an in-between path that worked for them. Y/n had learned in her late twenties that vanilla sex did very little for her. For y/n, the rougher and nastier, the better. It started out when she’d gone to a club that ended up being a bit of a sex dungeon. Much to y/n’s surprise, instead of running and screaming, what she saw had intrigued her, and she even tried a few things with some willing strangers that would never have to witness her ineptitude as she got used to the implements and positions required for the fun they were having.
Aaron, on the other hand, had grown up straight-laced, Southern, church going family. Not that as an adult, Aaron was particularly religious, but even still, some ideas just stuck with you, even into adulthood. As Hotch reflected on their different sex styles, he kept pumping in and out of y/n, prolonging the experience for her. He would pull almost all the way out and then push deeply back in, resulting in a lovely sigh from y/n as the feeling in her core started to pool like warmed honey. y/n smiled and moved a hand to Aaron’s sweat slicked shoulder as she said, “You know the words slut and whore used to apply to men. If the words disgust you so much when it comes to women, you could consider the fact that they apply to yourself instead.”
Hotch hummed, forming a plan in his head as he increased his speed and said, “Not to kink shame, y/n, but I’ve never been into the degradation thing, unlike someone I know. Speaking of which I need my bad bad girl to flip onto your stomach. Head down, ass in the air. Now.” y/n was a bit surprised by Aaron’s harsh tone, taking on a bit of the demeanor he had at the start of their sex session.
Once y/n had assumed the new positon, Aaron grabbed the hair and the nape of y/n’s neck, tapping the tip of his cock at her entrance. Leaning forward so Hotch could whisper into y/n’s ear he said with a rumble in his chest, “I’m going to fuck you into the bed, and you don’t get to move until you’ve cum all over my cock,” True to his word, Aaron was relentless as he fucked y/n into the mattress. Anytime she cried out, Hotch pushed her face into the pillow, careful that she could still breathe easily. With Aaron’s demanding time, y/n’s position, and the pace Hotch had set, y/n came apart quickly. Hotch didn’t push her face into the bed as she came and moaned out his name which was enough to send him over the edge as well; his cock pulsing and letting out his milky seed inside y/n.
In the afterglow of their intimacy, y/n snuggled close to Aaron and said, “I thought you said you didn’t like the degradation thing. What was that last ten minutes if not some form of control on your end?” Hotch nodded and replied, “Sweetheart, I don’t like calling you names. Now giving orders and being rough, well, let’s just say they pay me for that in my day job.” Y/n hummed and replied, “Well, thank god for that.”

Having hobbies is funny, like they all take time: I write, I knit, I read. And I don't know which hobby to choose. Do I read to better myself and my writing? Do I write so that I feel my reading has been of use? Do I knit Christmas presents now so I don't stress later? I never know which to pick.

The DOD building had so much more extra security than the Quantico Office that even Aaron thought it was a bit over the top. As he and Emily got through the fifth and final chcheckpointthey were scanned over one last tmtimend met by a stern-looking general who had the nametag Harrow on. He greeted the two agents and said, “Follow me. I’m happy the BAU is involved in this case, because right now we’re stymied, so having a new set of eyes on this will be helpful.” Hotch nodded and replied, “We’ll do what we can to help, Sir.” As they walked down the long tiled hallways Emily shot Aaron a look that said, “That wasn’t a thanks for being, that was a fix this shit, talk.” Hotch caught the drift and nodded, ing back, “It is, but we don’t say anything about it.” Em nodded back in understanding. The trio got to a secured door, and General Harrow opened and ushered Hotch and Prentiss inside. The room was large with maps and charts on the wall as well as a printout of the city of Chicago on top of the long table. There were three other people in the room who stood when the Agents and the General entered the room. General Harrow made quick introductions by saying, “Agents Hotchner and Prentiss, this is Brigadier General Pabts, Officer Keen, and Lieutenant Blake. I’ll let General Pabts tell you about our current sensitive situation. thereTherealso folders holding the highly classified information as well.
Pabts motioned Hotch and Emily to sit, which everyone did before he clicked a slideshow, and the face of a young woman in army marine fatigues appeared on the wall. The older man stated, “Officer y/n, y/l/n. She’s been enlisted in the Marines for years and is a dedicated officer. She disappeared two weeks ago, and we believe she’s been kidnapped by a foreign group who is torturing her for information, which is being leaked on sites online.” Aaron gave a nod in understanding as Pabts continued, “Not only are classified documents being leaked, but because of those leaks, a highly skilled sniper seems to be targeting those in the documents. Five decorated army men have been unceremoniously gunned down in the dead of day and I’m sick and tired of seeing my people get hurt and killed for serving this country.” The man’s moment of anger was ignored by everyone in the room as Lieutenant stepped in and said, “I was Offcer yOfficer CO on our mission in Chicago. There had been rumors of the terrorist organization setting down roots in IlliniosIllinoiswere trying to get ahead of the group. We had an elite squad of both Marines and Army on an undercover mission. A week into the mission had names and a location. On our first scouting mission to the location was whe, y/n/n disappeared. Officer Keen was the last to see Officer y/l/n before she disappeared. So either we have an AWOL officer or one that’s being tortured this moment for information - neither of those is are good option for us. Now. Officer Keen, please describe your last encounter with Officer y/l/n.”
Officer Keen swallowed nervously before saying, “Officer y/l/n and I were scouting an alley. She seemed anxious. More anxious than normal, but we were getting close to where the terrorist cell was, and she was taking point, so I would have been nervous too. We reached an alley that had ladder access to the roof of the building we were scouting. y/n took the ladder route, and I took the street. I expected to meet her again before we got to the building, but she never showed. As it turned out, the building was a ruse. There were signs that the terrorist cell had been there, but they’d left the day before or so. It was only ten minutes before I realized that y/n wasn’t showing up. The unit all started looking, but we couldn’t find y/n anywhere. There weren’t signs of a struggle apart from some blood that was DNA matched to Officer y/n on the top of the roof and down to the street below, but from there the trace went cold.”
General Harrow looked at Aaron and Emily and said, “Now you understand the circumstances and severity of what we’re dealing with. I’ll leave you both with General Pabts, Officer Keen, and Lieutenant Blake as you read over the information in those folders. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them anything. We’re hoping to have you and your team at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois by the end of the day.” General Harrow didn’t have to say, “Do I make myself clear?” to be understood. This was an order that the BAU would follow. Hotchner stood and shook the General’s hand and said, “My team will be there by the end of the day, Sir.” Harrow nodded once more and then left the room, not even acknowledging Emily’s presence. Aaron sat back down and didn’t even open the file before asking his first question: “Can my team and I see the leaked documents that have been causing the L.D.S.K.?” Lieutenant Blake asked, “L.D.S.K., Sir?” Emily tried not to sigh and said, “Long Distance Serial Killer. There are only two known cases dealing with L.D.S.K.s, but it looks like we might be dealing with three now.” Blake nodded and said, “Understood. Unfortunately, we can’t share those classified documents with you. They’ve been rescrubbed from the web, nd the fewer people who know about that information, he better for the country it will be.” Aaron’s jaw tightened, and he said, “I understand this is a matter of national security, Sir, but how are we supposed to work out the motivation of the sniper, or unsub as the BAU calls them, if we don’t have that information.” Bl? Ke didn’t budge, this was now a power play between the FBI and the DOD, where bad blood was thick. Blake continued, “Your unit is all about looking at trends and finding patterns. We have five dead army men in those folders looking for justice. See if you can link those patterns together.” Hotch chose not to respond to the taunt, instead, he and Emily opened their files and started reading.
After three hours of reading and asking tense questions, Emily and Hotch got out of the stifling room with their files and more information about the Marines and y/n’s unit than they may have wanted. The duo was about to walk out of the building when Officer Keen found them in the hallway. She approached and in a quiet voice stated, “Please find y/n. She was my friend.” Emily looked at the younger woman in front of her and, with sympathy, said, “We’re going to do our best.” As soon as they had their things back and were in the car, Aaron called Morgan and said, “Get the team ready to fly now. We’re headed to Chicago. Wheel’s up in thirty.”
On the jet, the team was more together than normal as Hotch and Em briefed them on the case so far. After hearing the details, Rossi stated, “I think we should split up into two teams. Morgan, JJ, and I can take the L.D.S.K. aspect. That will leave Aaron, Emily, and Spencer on the missing soldier.” Hotch nodded in agreement and said, “Sounds good. I’m going to give Penelope a call and see if she can find those files.” Hotch dialed Garcia and said, “Garcia, you’re on speaker. Do you think you could track down some files for me? They’re DOD and they’ve been scrubbed from the net.” There was a long pause before Penelope said, “Are you telling me to break into the DOD firewall, Hotch?” Aaron sighed and said, “I’m saying having these files will make our jobs easier and save more lives.” There was the sound of frantic typing before Pen said, “Got it. This might take longer than usual, but I’ll find your files. Please fax me the relevant data.” Hotch nodded and replied, “And Garcia, don’t get caught,” before he hung up the call and moved to the back of the plane to fax the documents that Penelope would need to do her job.
Arriving at the Military base was like moving into another world, one that didn’t jive with the BAU. Commander Rambart showed the team the room that was for their use and the bunks that they would be staying in. The younger man looked at Reid and Morgan as he said, “This isn’t the Hilton like you’re used to, but it will have to work for you folks.” After that, the man left the team to their own devices. Morgan looked at Aaron and asked, “Is there some bad blood between the army and the BAU that I don’t understand?” Hotch sighed, setting his duffle bag on his lower bunk before saying, “It’s the army, Morgan, they have bad blood with everyone. And let’s not forget that we’re stepping on their toes, they can’t be too happy about that.” Derek nodded, setting up his stuff above Hotch, and replied, “Noted. Stay away from the army brats.”
In the evidence room, the team regrouped, and with Rossi’s team working their angle, and Aaron looking for y/n. Hotch turned to Reid and asked, “Assuming that Officer y/l/n was taken, how many routes are there on and off of the roof she was on?” Reid looked at the map and ran some calculations in his head in a millisecond before saying, “There are three viable routes, but if y/n was carried or knocked out on the roof then I’d say there’s only one, and given that she was injured, it’s possible that was the scenario. If not, why wouldn’t she have screamed?” Hotch nodded along and said, “Are we going to go and check out the scene? I can also call Garcia and see if y/n’s phone has pinged anywhere since the day she was supposedly taken.” Hotch nodded and replied, “Sounds like a plan. I think having boots on the ground is the best option for us to start with. We’re looking for any sign that y/l/n is alive, see if she left any clues on how to find her. Anything.” Prentiss and Spencer nodded and headed out the door with Aaron at the front of the pack.
Rossi turned to Derek and said, “JJ and I will start looking at the profiles of the victims. How about you go down to the evidence and see if the bullet fragments can tell us anything. Morgan nodded and said, “Good luck with those files. Hotch told me they were heavy reading.” Just as Morgan left the room, he overheard Dave say to JJ, “Great, heavy reading and our super iededic reader is off on a team I assigned him to.” Derek chuckled and pushed open the door and moved through the long building, and outside. As he walked through the compound, he passed a group of trainees doing pushups and jumping jacks in the hot evening sun. The drill sergeant's voice calling out numbers and insults to the recruits on the ground. As he passed the people, Morgan was happy he was where he was, and not in their position. It was a bit of a trek to the evidence building on the other side of the base, but Morgan got there in good time. He checked in with the officer at the front desk, showing the young woman with slicked back hair his credentials before he was swiped into the next level of the building. Morgan was directed to go down the hallway, take a left, and right, and it was the door at the end of the hallway. Derek followed the directions and entered a large room that had three tables at the front end and a shooting range on the other side of the room. Morgan stood alone for a second before another person entered the room. It was another young, attractive officer with a name tag of J. Palacios. The woman nodded at Derek and said, “I was told you were here to look at the evidence from the recent shootings. Am I correct?” Morgan smiled and replied, “Yes, Ma’am.” Ms. Palacios looked unamused and replied, “Save your Ma’ams for someone else, I have a job to do here, and your little team is just getting in my way, so put on some gloves. I’ll show you what we have so far, and you can be on your merry way.” Derek soberly nodded before moving to put on some gloves.
It was golden hour by the time Hotch, Prentiss, and Reid got to the rooftop where y/n had allegedly been taken. Thankfully it h, it hadn’t rained since y/n went missing, and the blood stains were still visible on the roof. Spencer and Aaron quickly started examining the blood splatter pattern to see if it looked like a bullet wound or a knife wound at had been used to inflict the bleeding. Reid followed the blood splatter to the edge of the roof and motioned Hotch and Emily over. Once at the genius’s side, Spence said, “Officer y/n wasn’t unconscious or carried off the roof. She must have been ambushed, injured, but left the roof using her own strength.” Prentiss looked and Reid and asked, “Why do you think that?” Spencer frowned and said, “Well, if I were trying to get someone unconscious off a roof, I’d use the safety ladder, not the option where you have to jump to a different roof and then down to the ground.” Hotch nodded and said, “There’s something about the blood pattern that’s off t, oo. Like the bleeding was controlled, I doubt Officer y/l/n was patched up on the roof by her abductors.” Emily looked at the pair and said, “You think Officer y/l/n went AWOL, don’t you?” Aaron crossed his arms over his chest and said, “I don’t know that, I just think that her abductors would have asked for a ransom already, the facts just seem off. Emily looked at the distance that y/n would have had to jump and couldn’t fault Hotch or Spencer with how they were thinking. No matter what, when she looked at it, the facts weren’t adding up.
Rossi closed the file he was finished with and opened the next one and said, ‘Well they didn’t redact that all of those who have been killed so far were all on the same base at the same time in Iraq two years ago, the question is, what kind of mission where they running.” JJ looked up from her file and replied, “Well, that’s what we hope Garcia can find. It didn’t seem like anything special was happening at the base during the stint the victims were there, so it must have been a pretty top-secret clearance mission. No wonder the DOD didn’t want that information out in the public. Rossi tapped his foot under the table and said, “These people didn’t seem to have that high of a clearance, unless they were undercover, or had altered military identities? I mean, why kill a random technician, two officers, and one general? I mean, the general makes sense, but how are the other three involved?” JJ gave Rossi the “I have no clue face” and buried herself back in her current reading.
“You’re saying the gun was 3D printed?” Derek asked Officer Palacios. The woman nodded and said, “You’ve seen the target patterns under the microscope. Bullet patterns from known gun manufacturers would have had a positive ID by now, but there was no known barrel pattern that was recognizable. This is becoming a bigger and bigger problem with 3D printing. You can print anything, and it becomes untraceable.” Morgan nodded along and said, “Well, that makes things more interesting. The bullets were generic too, so there’s nothing to go off of there either,” Officer Palacios nodded and said, “I told you there was nothing here for you. So, are we done here?” Derek put up his hands and replied, “I guess so. Thank you for your time.” Derek was disappointed with his findings because he had hoped to find out some kind of information, like a gun manufacturer or a serial number.
Without much to go off of t, he team met that night for dinner at the canteen. Halfway through the meal, he got a call from Penelope. He stood and took it in the hallway, saying, “Talk to me, Gacia.” Penelope smiled and said, “Well I’ve got something for you pulled from the depths of the surveillance state.” Aaron looked around the empty hallway and said, “Don’t say stuff like that too loud around here, Garcia, I don’t want to be thrown in jail if I can avoid it.” Penelope laughed and said, “Well I’ve sent you the files that I have, you should be warned, it’s not pretty information. I understand why the DOD wanted this gone.” Hotch nodded and ended the call with, “Thank Garcia, you’re a life lifesaverven that information, Aaron moved back to the canteen and motioned for his team to follow him back to their sleeping bunks. The team piled around Aaron as he pulled open his laptop and opened the encrypted files that Penelope had sent in encrypted files. There were multiple documents, but one video was also attached. Hotch opened the file, nd the BAU watched a video footage from a drone following a flow flying bomber plane making multiple passes over a poor-looking neighborhood and dropping multiple bombs. There was no sound to the video, but the flashes on the screen indicated that the explosives had hit their mark. There were a few seconds where the video cut out, and then the after-effects of the bombs were shown from a high altitude. What had been a neighborhood before was now a smoldering pile of rubble and ash.
“Shit,” Derek muttered. Hotch shook his head and said, “I’m going to print these documents, I need us to look over them with a fine-tooth comb. If you notice anything about anyone related to this case, tell me. Where did this happen, why, and when?” The team nodded and settled down for a long night of reading. By 3:00 AM, the team had a lot more information. So far, they knew that all of the men and women who had been killed so far had been on the bombing mission in some way. The mission itself was called Operation Bright Burn, and it was supposed to take out a sect of the terrorist cell that had allegedly taken y/n hostage. However, from the documents Garcia has sent, it turned out to all have been a huge mistake. The terrorist cell was nowhere near the neighborhood that had been bombed, and 25 civilians had been killed, including ten women and seven children. There were only two other people who could be targets. How y/n was involved was still unknown.
As the other team members continued reading and writing down information from the files, Rossi motioned for Aaron to join him by the door. Dave and Hotch huddled, and Rossi said, “That video footage is terrible news for the State Department and DOD. No wonder the government had it buried.” Hotch nodded and replied, “It’s even worse than Desert Storm. That footage could radicalize thousands of people abroad and here nationally. Rossi didn’t mince his words when he said, “I mean it’s fucked. No matter what, we have to keep this under wraps.” Aaron nodded and said, “I’m going to go talk to the staff sergeant about keeping the other possible targets at safe houses, we don’t have time to lose, you go tell the team how iimportan tit is that none of this information leaves this room.”
The night slowly bled into dawn. The team just had a few hours of sleep when the men were woken up with a harsh knock on their door. Morgan and Hotch were the first to the door, and a nervous-looking officer stated, “Agents, Commander Payne wants to see you at central command immediately.” Hotch nodded and said, “We’ll be there in five minutes.” Everyone else in the room had heard the conversation at the door and quickly changed. Spencer moved next door to knock on the women’s room to let them know to get up as well. Harried and worn, the BAU arrived in central command, where Commander Payne and a few other high-ranking officers were standing stiffly around a large screen. The BAU didn’t need the full breakdown of what was happening, but they got it anyway, as Commander Payne stated, “Officer Crimps has been taken hostage by the terrorist organization and is demanding 500,000 dollars for his return. They will call back in ten minutes for an answer.” Hotch looked at his team, nd they all understood. Officer Crimps was the pilot flying the bomber plane for Operation Bright Burn. The TV seems to show live video footage of the officer tied to a chair in a nondescript room. Aaron took point as usual and said, “Let me speak with the terrorists. I have hostage negotiation experience. Payne didn’t look happy, but after some convincing, he was the one to pick up after the five minutes had elapsed.
The first thing Aaron asked was, “Who am I speaking with?” to which the voice on the other end of the line replied, “It does not matter. What matters is the innocent blood that was spilled, and how much you are willing to pay to not have more be shed.” Aaron anxiously tapped his finger on the table as the call was trying to be traced by Penelope on a secure line. He needed to keep whoever he was speaking to talking for at least two minutes. Thinking of another option, Hotch asked, “Before we talk about your ransom offer, I’d like confirmation that Officer y/l/n is alive. We won’t talk money until that fact is made clear.” There was a beat of silence before the man on the other end of the line said, “We know of no y/l/n. We only have the man you see on television. Meet us at the West shipping port in twenty-four hours, come alone and with our money, or this man dies. And he will die with the whole world watching.” With that last sentence, the line went dead. Hotch quickly changed to the line with Penelope on it and put her on speaker phone: “Garcia, were you able to trace the call?” After the sounds of frantic typing, Penelope responded, “No. There were at least a dozen layers of encryption and rerouting on that call. Whoever these people are, they have high tech. I’m sorry, Hotch. I’ll keep trying.” Disappointed again, Aaron thanked Garcia and hung up.
Before Hotch could get a word in, Commander Payne looked at the other men in the BAU and also the BAU and said, “So Officer y/l/n went AWOL. We spent time and money on a target who’s a deserting son of a bitch while another officer’s life if being threatened. Rossi stepped in and said, “There still might be a correlation between the cases. Maybe y/n was leaking the classified documents to the terrorists.” That suggestion made Payne so mad that he slammed the tabletop top saying, “If that’s true, I will rain fire on y/l/n’s head like the plagues in the Bible.” Morgan moved forward and said, “Commander, can you share the live video footage with our team. We might be able to get to Officer Crimp before we have to think about the ransom if we can analyze the footage, but the sooner we can do that, the better chances we have.” Commander Payne looked Morgan up and down before nodding his head and saying, “You can have it, now, if you don’t mind, I need to make a call to the Pentagon hostage negotiation.” When Commander Payne and the other men had stepped out of the room, Aaron let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding in. He looked at Derek and said, “Good thinking to get them out of the room, now we can really strategize.” Emily added, “And now that they’re gone, we don’t have to pretend that we don’t actually know what’s going on.”
The team took the next three hours looking at every shot of the video the terrorists had sent, listening to every cadence of the call with no avail. Just as the team was losing hope, Gacia called. Derek picked up and said, “Talk to us, Baby girl.” Penelope's smile was audible through the phone as she said, “I have something for my people.” Rossi leaned forward and asked, “Did you manage to get the track and trace?” There was a pause before Penelope said, “No, but I do have a location on Officer y/l/n. And I know she’s the one who’s been leaking the documents. Hotch seemed to sag with relief, hearing some information, and asked, “Is she working with the terrorists?” Garcia replied, “No, oh actually. The terrorists were willing to pay y/n to join them, and she wholeheartedly refused. In her message to them, she was highly offended that they would even ask. It’s so strange. Here she goes leaking all this sensitive information, which led to the deaths of three men in the military, but she’s offended to be associated with terrorists? Make it make sense.” To Aaron, however, it was starting to make sense. He replied, “She’s acting on a level of extreme moral consciousness. One that almost verges on delusion. To her, sharing the information goes above any law, any order, and religion. The question we have to ask ourselves is what pushed her to this point.” There was a brief pause before Hotch pulled himself together and said, “Thanks for the information, Penelope. We’ll keep you updated on the case,” and then he hung up the phone.
“We hit the location hard and hot. I plan on blowing Officer y/l/n to hell.” Commander Payne said it with such confidence, and Aaron had to put on his most authoritative voice as he said, “Absolutely not. The DOD sent me and my team to figure out this case, and if you want to see Officer Crimps alive, I need to speak to Officer y/n.” Payne wheeled on Aaron and said, “Now wait a minute. I’m the commanding officer in this situation, and Officer y/n is under my jurisdiction.” Hotch let out a breath through his nose and replied, “Well, the DOD is in charge of the army, and they sent me and my team here to help you and your officers. So, would you like to waste more time while I call someone over at the Department of Defense, or can we get to officer y/l/n’s location?”
The car ride over was tense; Rossi and Derek talked about the best way to handle the situation on the ground. Commander Payne had ordered snipers to surround the cheap motel where Officer y/n was holed up. It was decided that Aaron would go in with Emily following behind, but not so that she would be seen. The team didn’t want y/n to feel cornered. “So we think this is PTSD from what Officer y/l/n saw while she was stationed abroad? Or just watching the footage that she leaked?” Ask Spencer. Hotch looked into the review mirror to look at Reid before saying, “Something set her off. We can’t know what that means yet, but I intend to find out. And I intend to get y/l/n out of that building alive.” Rossi chipped in, “That’s going to be hard with Commander trigger happy on our ass.” The fact that no one laughed to commented back at Dave meant that he was right.
The cars were parked a block away from the cheap motel that y/n was hiding in. The SUV and not-so-inconspicuous military HUM-V parked in another motel that might as well have a sign that read, “affairs happen here,” printed on their marquee. Hotch and Commander Payne had a private conversation that the rest of the BAU were not privy to. Finally, Aaron walked back to this group and said, “Payne’s giving Emily and me an hour, but he has his snipers ready to shoot if Officer y/n tries to make a run for it. That’s the best I can do. The clock just started, so, Em, let's get going. While I’m talking to Officer y/n, I want the rest of you to get more information. Scout out possible exits, see when y/n checked into the motel, all of that.” Rossi and Derek nodded that they’d take care of what Aaron had said, so Hotch and Prentiss turned on their heels and quickly jogged in the direction of the motel.
The motel was old and dilapidated. It reeked of mold, peeling wallpaper, and stains the occupants didn’t want to think too much about. Penelope had forwarded y/n’s room number along with the name of the motel - The Lucky Star - which sounded more like a casino than a place for people to sleep. The outdoor stairs to the second floor looked rusted and ready to crumble, but thankfully, they didn’t make a noise as the agent duo moved up them. Emily stayed at the top of the stairs, while Aaron crouched forward and walked to room 215. He stayed lower than the peephole and knocked on the door before moving back behind the wall. There was a moment before a voice replied, “I didn’t ask for any cleaning services, and if you’re soliciting, I’ll call management. Now go away.” Aaron waited a beat before replying, “This isn’t housekeeping. My name is Agent Aaron Hotchner from the Behavior Analysis Unit. I just want to talk.” Y/n replied through the door, “I’m done talking, and I’m done watching. I’m finally doing something for once in my life, Agent, and you can’t stop me.” Aaron nodded, trying to think of an angle to work as he bought time saying, “I understand why you feel like you have to do this, y/n.” Hotch could hear that sigh through the door as y/n responded, “How could you possibly know why I’m doing this? And even if you did, it doesn’t matter, you can’t undo what I’ve done. The internet is forever. The whole world will see what the U.S. Government is willing to do to innocent people in the name of freedom.”
Hotch remembered that y/n was driven by moral obligation as he said, “Those terrorists. The ones that offered you a job? They have Officer Crimps. They plan to kill him unless we can find him first. You can help us with that. No one else has to die.” Y/n replied, “Crimps isn’t innocent. He has blood on his hands, too. Not that I want him to die, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make if I can get the last of this information out to the public. My last service to my country.” Just as y/n finished speaking, there was a loud blaring noise and the sound of a megaphone attached to speakers as Commander Payne’s voice echoed through the room and outdoor hallway: “This is Commander Payne of the U.S. Army. Officer y/l/n you have thirty minutes to surrender yourself to court martial. If you don’t come out willingly, we will see that you are taken by force. The second option will not be a fun experience for you. I promise you that.” Aaron cursed under his breath. He had been promised a full hour to talk to y/n. To get her to come willingly, the commander was forcing his hand.
There were some sounds from inside the room, and Aaron began to panic. Just as he was about to kick open the door, he could he it unlock from the inside. Hotch stopped just in time to not kick in an open door like Derek might have. Sensing something might be off, Aaron pulled out his gun and moved to the door. It only took a light push for the door to swing inward. Aaron didn’t charge in. There was a room with a ghastly green carpet and wallpaper from the eighties. The bed was covered in papers and multiple laptops and monitors. There was a desk with a chair that looked like it was about to fall apart. However, y/n was nowhere to be seen. And if she had moved to the balcony, Commander Payne would have said something already. That left the small closet to the left of the door, or what had to be the bathroom on the right. Aaron crept into the room and opened the shallow closet, and felt inside with his right hand. It was empty. Before Aaron could call out, there was a voice from behind the bathroom door, “In here, Agent Hotchner. I’m unarmed.” Hotch furrowed his brow, It sounded like y/n was having a hard time talking. No matter what Officer y/l/n said, Aaron was still cautious and kept his gun in front of him as he opened the bathroom door. The fluorescent tube was flickering on the yellowing tiled floor. The shade covering the light of the sink was covered in dust with bugs trapped inside. Officer y/n was draped over the toilet. She was breathing fast, and sweat covered her face and arms. It was pooling at the pits of her arms.
Hotch quickly holstered his weapon, realizing that y/n wasn’t going to be a threat to him. Aaron moved to his knees in the small space next to y/n, who was starting to spasm involuntarily. Leaning above her, Aaron looked into y/n’s y/e/c eyes and asked, “What’d you take, Officer y/l/n?” y/n coughed and turned her head to vomit into the toilet. She didn’t really make it, but that didn’t seem to bother her. Y/n handed an empty pill bottle to Aaron and said, “I’m not really an officer anymore, Agent Hotchner. You don’t need to keep up the formality.” Hotch looked at the title on the bottle, Duloxetine. Y/n was overdosing, and he said, “We need to get you medical attention, fast.” Y/n shook her head and said, “Please, don’t. I… I’m ready. I can’t live the rest of my life in a military prison., Just let me go.” Hotch knew that wasn’t how justice worked. However, he knew that time was precious, and he asked, “Why do it? You swore an oath to your country? What made you a traitor?” Y/n looked at Aaron with thanks in her eyes, which were turning glassy. She knew Agent Hotchner was giving her more time, time to die. So she stated with struggle, “Crimps and I were fucking. It gets boring being at an outpost all the time with nothing to do.” Y/n coughed and said, “One night he seemed more excited than usual. As we were fucking he told me he’d ran a mission early that day. That he’d killed a lot of people, and some of them were civilians. He was gleeful about it. Something in me just snapped that night. Can you imagine going down on a woman and saying you’d killed innocent people while doing that?”
Aaron nodded no, and moved his hand to brush some spittle from the corner of y/n’s mouth as he said, “No. I can’t. I’m sorry.” Y/n shook her head slightly as the tremors in her body got worse. “I had to let the world know., I’ve done such horrible things in the name of this country, and I’m ashamed. I’m trying not to be scared.” Hotch cupped y/n’s face as tears streamed down her cheek and into his hands. He knew the pain must be horrible as he said, “I know. You’re being very brave. But no one else has to die. Tell me where Crimps is being held. Please.” Y/n closed her eyes, every breath a pain as she whispered, “22 West Westlake Ave. Unit 110.” Y/n took one last breath before saying, “Tell my family I’m sorry.” With that,t y/n gave out a cry and seized until she went rigid and her breathing stopped. Aaron did what he could, but by the time the ambulance and the Army came storming in, y/n had passed to wherever she was destined to go next.
There was no time to grieve or think, and Aaron, his team, and the Army moved onto the terrorists’ location to save Crimps, who had a few broken bones but was going to be okay with some rest and leave. It was late when Aaron made the call to break the news to y/n’s family. Hotch was tired, emotional. He could feel the anticipation on the other end of the phone as he stated, “Y/n wanted to let you know that… that she loved you.” Just as he heard the tears begin on the other end of the line, he slipped to phone over to JJ to continue the rest of the difficult conversation. Aaron slipped out the back door, the base's head command. Standing in the dark, Aaron leaned against the wall and let out a breath. He was alone for only a few minutes before Rossi also exited the building and asked, “Hard day?” Aaron looked over to his friend with tired eyes, saying, “They’ll bury the victims this weekend with pomp and circumstance. Men who were all involved in the killing of innocents. Officer Crimps will be a hero. And Officer y/l/n? What does she get? Nothing but a dishonorable discharge even in death. She was trying to show people the ugly truth that can never be seen.” Rossi sighed and said, “They don’t pay us to think about things like that, Aaron. Just remember, you did what you could today. And you were there for y/n when she probably needed someone the most.” Hotch gave a slight nod, and Rossi patted his arm before returning inside.
