Today is transgender day of remembrance. Today we honor those who lost their lives simply because they were living their truth. There are nearly 3 generations of beautiful trans folks (and a handful of allies) in this photo. It was taken after a reading of @shakeenz wonderful new play. You are looking at People who have survived against horrible odds. People who walked down the street embodying their truth before I was born. I could not be who I am or do what I do if it were not for the people who have gone before me. I spent last week being totally humbled, inspired, and grateful to be in the room with these beautiful and talented people. I spent the week thankful and proud to be trans. Being trans doesn’t make me brave, it makes me beautiful.
