Insider’s Edition: Andreas Constantinou

I got a chance to sit down and talk with local New Jersey/Philadelphia artist Andreas Constantinou and talk music. Andreas is currently a student at The University of the Arts where he studies music business, entrepreneurship, and technology. Outside of school he is a local musician in the bands The Mountain Chiefs and Jiuce.
Based out of Flemington, New Jersey Andreas is the drummer for The Mountain Chiefs. The band has just started up January of 2015, already playing multiple basement house shows in Jersey, Maryland, Philly, and New York. When I asked Andreas what their genera was he responded by saying “instrumental math rock”. Want to find out what math rock sounds like? Andreas has recently started playing in a new local Philly band Jiuce. They are a funk fusion band thats ready to show Philly what they got. As if two bands were enough Andreas also produces his own electronic music under the stage name Head Space. He is currently working on some new material to drop an EP with original content this January(2016).
Aside from talking about his music I got to ask Andreas some personal questions about his start in music and his music goals:
EC: “What made you decided to become a musician?”
AC:” Well I use to work at a Men’s Warehouse store, and after a while I realized that I wasn’t happy with my job. I didn’t like what I was doing and I wasn’t able to play music since I was only working. I realized once I stopped playing music that it was something that I wanted to pursue as a career.”
EC: “What are you music goals?”
AC: “I want to preform music for the rest of my life. Maybe become a session or touring musician. As well as expanding my electronic music.”
