I am Emory, an artist, writer and poet. This blog is mostly dedicated to all that (though I don't post much art on here anymore). I am also chronically ill and queer if that is what you like and I write stories with those kinds of characters in them.

A bit about me:

I am british (born and bred), 19 and enjoy making and sharing stories. I am also currently writing a book called The Princess and The Kelpies (no not the mythical creatures, more pirates).

Reading back through the first draft of my book right now and I gotta tell you it is pure chaos. Like I knew it was weird right, but I completely forgot how much pure crack went into it. Like one scene they pretty much gaslighlight, gatekeep and girlboss their way out of a situation.

I know this book is pretty self indulgent but I cannot wait to see people's take on some of this shit.

I'm currently barrelling straight towards the 30,000 words mark (also known as the muddy middle) and kinda looking forward to it. Is that weird? it feels like it should be weird, but my favourite chapter is the one after the one I'm on and it gets even more hilarious after. It's not weird to have fun writing I guess, cus at least I know it's gonna be entertaining.

Heeeeeyyyyyy, I got into my first choice uni, with an unconditional offer too. Who knew I was actually decent at art. Anyway... I'm still writing and alive, and got diagnosed with Autism.

I’m going somewhere pretty remote tomorrow and the place we’re staying has NO WIFI. The website I use to write is online, I’m doomed.

I can still hand write and download it and stuff but it will be much harder to do it.

The day I can no longer hold a pen

The day I can no longer hold a pen will be the day my life will end,

When the words no longer flow, and I have nowhere left to go.

The ink will fade, to a greener shade, my tales left untold

my hands will shake, under the weight, of never finishing that story,

Ink will dry, and I will cry, because I couldn't finish that drawing

A tale in their heart, and an appreciation of the arts, their life will feel whole,

There are only 2 rules when it comes to writing fanfics:

Write whatever you want.

Have fun doing it.

That’s literally it. There is no “show and don’t tell”. There is no “make it realistic”. There is no “fit in with the trends”. And of course, there is no “write as fast as possible to keep up engagement and please others”.

No.

Most fanfiction writers are not professional writers. This isn’t a job, we’re literally writing for shits and giggles. We don’t have a team of editors behind us to make our story perfect. Fanfiction isn’t about creating the most perfect plot with the most perfect prose and the most perfect pacing.

Fanfiction writing is for you first. To make your heart happy. Other people just get the benefit to also enjoy it if they wish.

That’s it.

Write whatever makes you happy, with whatever writing style you want, whenever you want.
