There are multiple chapters that are set in hospitals where the characters are attempting to recover from injuries that never fully heal. I must once again stress that my experience in WWI was perfectly normal.

Some of us have this nostalgic idealism that tells us fanfiction is detached from the world of Money but that isn’t true anymore, if it were ever true. Publishers and studios look at your fanfic and regardless of what you intended they see the potential for a Bigolas Dickolas Wolfwood moment. Or they see your fic has 10,000 readers and they want to turn each reader into $20 by having you find-replace the character names and publishing it as an original romance. And it sucks because “talking to my friends” should not be the same thing as “doing unpaid advertising work” but like. Our current advertising model is highly geared toward monetizing you talking to your friends. I’m not saying don’t talk to your friends but I am saying be aware of who’s watching you do it yknow. Don’t let yourself be used unconsciously
