I wish someone gathered all the stupid teenagers and kicked them out of the fandom. And I mean every single fandom. They are parasites on the body of fandom, and I wish their parents paid them a bit more attention, and set them straight.

I think there are times where they could do with gentle educating, and there are times when they need to be put in line. This is one of the times where they need to be told that their behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. I understand it on some level, because I’m only 20. I was a cringeworthy teenager in fandom not so long ago, but I certainly never took it upon myself to harass people over fictional characters or accuse actors of serious crimes.

Being a minor is only so much of an excuse. You should be 13 by law to be using this website, and by 13 years old you are 100% old enough to know right from wrong. There’s room for you to grow and to learn, but if someone who is a lot older and wiser is telling you that you’re behaving in a way that is harmful, you should have the humility and the respect to at least listen to what they’re saying to you.

Everyone thinks they know absolutely everything there is to know about the world when they’re a young teenager, and I think that’s why we have such a huge problem with younger “antis” barging onto people’s blogs and harassing them. In their minds they are 100% convinced that they are in the right, because they don’t have the benefit of hindsight and they aren’t as worldly or wise as they think they are. Then can’t look back and think “man I was such an asshole back then”.

They’re easily led and they are part of a toxic in-group that has convinced them they are in the right and everyone who disagrees with them is “gross”, and that encourages harmful methods such as crosstagging and sending anonymous hate.
