the idea that women's sports are a gay paradise bereft of tension is problematic not just because it obscures other tensions (race, class, gender, labor, etc) but because it isn't true. wrt women's hockey specifically, all you need is a cursory knowledge of the player base to understand that a large chunk of it is composed of heterosexual conservative christian women.

Of all the reasons to be critical of a Vegas PWHL team “a horrible person plays for the nhl team” is probably the dumbest. It’s an entirely separate organization/company. Nobody said this about Montreal in year one when they had logan mailloux on the nhl team (and yes, present at practices they invited the victoire to.) what are we doing here
