Colleen's had the gift planned for nearly a year. ( she started planning it the day after Em's 26th birthday ) and Bri's ties into it serving as a bit of a hint. It's a personalized Peter Pan mug with Peter, Wendy and Tink on the front and on the back it says "Never grow up" Colleen carefully wrapped the Disneyland park passes and flight boarding passes to California and tucked it on his breakfast tray.
There was a familiar smell of fried eggs when he woke up that morning, along with the unmistakable scent of freshly cooked doughnuts and it took him all of two minutes to clamber out of bed and pad his way downstairs to greet his family; it surprising him immediately when he noticed that Briallen was also up, until everything paused in time when he actually noticed the time. Of course she would be awake at one in the afternoon and of course that wonderful aroma of food would be filling every corner of their home. Usually - ocean breeze and salty seas drifted in through open blinds, but that powerful scent was masked, by what looked to be a very hearty home cooked breakfast that only Colleen could muster up whilst also juggling the infant, even though she had been placed in her highchair already and was consistently stabbing at the plate before her that, to Emlyn, looked now more like a massacre as opposed to sausages and eggs. Thankfully - cutlery for the baby was plastic with every letter of the alphabet imprinted upon them. Perching himself just across from his little girl, he reached for the fork she held so tightly and with a chuckle, somehow managed pulling it free from her grasp long enough to scoop some of her porridge onto the opposing end; the spoon - making all manner of aircraft noises in an attempt to get her to eat at least a few mouthfuls rather than splash everything all over the table and kitchen floor. Luckily, after the first try or two, Bri accepted the offered food before munching it all down in one go and clapping her hands together frantically as she asked for more. An enormous grin settled over the males lips at this and just as Col padded over from the counter with their own breakfast, he settled another dollop of porridge onto his daughters spoon and watched, pleased, when she grasped it in her own hand and went about scooping it up herself. ‘ Churs, babe, ‘ he almost cooed, craning forward just enough as his gal took a seat beside him and pressed a kiss to her lips, eyes twinkling as what she’d so secretively placed on the tray, came into sight. A tilt of his head and a widening grin followed, as he reached for the envelope after admiring the Pan mug she had so beautifully chosen for him ; of course, there was another kiss, llonger lasting and more forceful in his appreciation of her and all that she did for him, mere moments before he reached for it. ‘ ——Col .. ‘ he voiced, fresh tears pooling at the corners of his eyes as it took him a little while to process what he held in his hands; plane tickets to Disneyland … quite possibly one of the only locations he had always wished to visit but had never before been able to afford. Now, he wondered how on earth she had saved up for this, but then his head was also filled with how much their little girl would absolutely love that trip, too, and the smile that appeared on his face almost tore his lips. Emlyn stood from the chair in which he had settled and scooped the dark haired woman into his arms, pressing a lasting kiss to her forehead and openly expressing his emotions in the form of tears, holding her close to him as muffled but still crystal clear thank you’s rolled off of his tongue. He couldn’t have asked for anything more on this day - and there was enormous certainty that this upcoming holiday for the three of them would be one he would always remember ——— just as all of them would.
