Is it worth all the effort? Because you know me, I’m allergic to the stuff. You think Gwen’s more stubborn than me? That wounds me, Em. Wounds me. Erghh, I just want more fruit, honestly. Started snacking on fruits instead of Cheetos and they’re actually pretty good? I thought a fruit tree would be dope - kind of forgot I lived in the middle of a desert for a minute there. For sure, a tour sounds fun. You need to show me the archery range, it’s not as cool as swords but it’s pretty bad-ass. Are we allowed to touch the bows and arrows while high or nah?

Being more stubborn than Gwen takes effort, and we just established you hate that. Hmm... Some fruits grow where it’s hot, how do you feel about peaches and pears and nectarines? If you’re not into those you might be out of luck, though. I can take you to the archery range but to actually see it used to it’s full potential you’re going to need Persephone. She’ll teach you what you’re doing -- I’m still learning, too.
bibbitybobbitymason:
Wellll, yes and no! I am picturing you dying and becoming a tree someday, but not a wise one necessarily! We have the Internet now, we don’t need a smart Grandmother Tree, we need a chill Grandmother Tree to talk to and ease all our anxieties! Our courtesies are really important, but it makes sense that some people get less practice with that than others - all I ever hear is that I’m a good cheerleader or that my relationship with my sister is creepy, so there’s not much thank yous or bowing I can rehearse there! I think the dirt is, like, Emma Iconic though, which is totes a compliment. You’re not? But relationships are really fun! It’s like having someone to rely on all the time; really, the only thing better is having a twin, but you missed the chance for that. Gooooosh, I don’t think anyone liked Zoe and David together, to be honest, but darn it if it wasn’t an entertaining disaster to watch! Like a tornado ripping through a banana factory, hilarious but horrible. Pink ones, yes please! Cassie looks cute with pink.
The anxiety generation, wow, I feel like everyday someone says something that reinforces the idea that we’re just all really, really stressed out. It’s starting to make me feel left out! Not really -- I don’t want all that stress, but jeez. You can say thank you to being a good cheerleader! Or to them saying you and Madison are creepy, it might be funny to see their reactions to that. I have friends I can rely on all the time; it’s not more important to have someone you might marry someday than it is to have friends, at least I don’t think so. I think Zoe might have liked them together for like five minutes, but Zoe and Tim is a big improvement. And David and Emily, I guess, if that’s even a thing. Pink’s all yours!
ollyofarendelle:
I think I figured it out - you must’ve stolen the chill from everyone else in the kingdom and that’s why everyone else is so extra and you know exactly how to handle everything, damn! I might’ve gone in jeans and a hoodie to junior prom, maybe! Or at least jeans, really nice ones, but still! Mom’s still expecting tons of pictures of all of us at prom, though, even if we probably aren’t going to let her doll us up this year, just saying! I didn’t even think about how bad Wake was probably going to be, zoinks. But while it’s all good and well for you to dance with your step-sister and me to dance with my girlfriend, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t mind if we switched once or twice or more. It’s not about “getting over herself”, Ems. She’s got some mad anxiety, and I wouldn’t be a really great support system if I just ditched her while she’s working up to feeling good enough to be around everyone again. She’s a great girlfriend, how her anxiety hits her has no effect on her relationship status, it just makes her life a little harder sometimes and makes her want to pull away, and I know that about her. And I’m fine with it. I mean, not fine like I enjoy it or anything, but fine like I want to be there for her through it. I get that it’s a lot and obviously not everyone else has gotta be there for it, but I’m gonna choose to be there for her forever, because she’s the One. And I know she’d do the same for me. That’s love, my friend! It’s nuts, but that’s what it is.
Not everyone’s extra, that’s just something you were blessed with, dear cousin! Would you be one of those people who wears skinny ties and a blazer with your jeans, or would you have worn the fake tuxedo t-shirt with it instead? True, those two love to gossip and prom will probably have a lot of it, don’t you think? I’m pretty sure Emily and Zoe might get into a fight, we should maybe like... stop that from happening. It’s not like you’re leaving her all alone, she’s got Kelsey and Gwen and Leo and whoever else. She might not even notice you’re gone! I mean, it’s great that you want to support her, this whole thing just seems... silly, I don’t know. Like it’s gone on long enough. But maybe that’s just everyone talking about prom like we’re picking kickball teams in kindergarten has got me worrying about it when it doesn’t even matter, sorry. You really love her, huh? Like, she’s going to be my cousin-in-law someday kind of love, and not just high school first girlfriend love?
persephonedunbroch:
You made your way through about a season of a soap opera in real life in a few months, you do realize that, right? It’s kind of extraordinary how well you handled it; and I thought I was good at stress management, goodness. No, I don’t know, it was a silly question bred of overthinking things that I probably shouldn’t, you know me. It’s more of thinking I should feel weird rather than actually feeling weird. I doubt I could ever hate you again - you might actually be my best friend, though I’ve held off on saying so because if us partaking in certain activities together makes Blake jealous, I wonder if claiming you as my favorite would provoke similar feelings of envy. You don’t have to do anything, I promise - we’re good, Emma, very good. And having Gavin and Blake over sounds lovely! Like a high tea, minus the tea.
A season of something only lasts a few months anyway, right? I’m glad I stayed like, par for the course and didn’t exceed my soap opera stay. That would have been horrible! Well, if you care about Blake being jealous, then I guess it’s better if you don’t say it, but I don’t know, you’re kind of my best friend, too. I mean, Olly and I have been like, an unbeatable duo since we were little kids but stuff’s kind of shifted around a lot lately, you know? And I just think him spending all his time with Becca would hurt a lot more if, um, you weren’t around. Sorry, I’m not usually good at this whole ‘emotional conversation’ thing, but I’m just really glad that our moms being together brought us together, you know? We could serve them tea, though, think how funny it would be to watch Gavin try to keep up with Blake’s surprisingly good tea manners. What did Jane even teach that boy?
kinglywill:
You haven’t seen THAT much, if you look at the ratio of what you know and what’s transpired, if that provides you comfort… I would have no idea what being a “real girl” is like, but my brain provides me with crazy theories too, always, so it sounds more like you’re finally giving into the drama bug just a little bit. It might have to do with the fact that you feel like you know your cousin less, when previously he was your number one - it’s a disorienting feeling and stress makes falling into overthinking and theorizing much easier. Perhaps a heart to heart with Oliver or some cousin-bro-date would help? I have no clue, I’m sorry. It’s a couple name, Emma! Will plus Blake equals Wake! If you’d prefer to be called Pemma or Emsephone let me know and I’ll do so, but it may lead to people who aren’t me getting the wrong impression, you should be warned. I called myself the dad friend in the same breath, it was hardly meant with offense! I quite like her being the mom friend, actually; it makes me feel so much less old, but I can keep it hush around her. I love you too. It wasn’t just you, it was a whole situation. And we’re so young, I’m sure this is the first of numerous altercations we’ll have, as awful as that sounds. We have a whole life left together, though. Or at least I’d like us to.
Private: Is this what it feels like to be you all the time? Overthinking is exhausting. Olly still says I’m his best friend and I still call him mine, but I don’t know, it’s weird that now when something happens I go to Persephone first instead of him. Maybe it’s just easier to think it’s about him and Becca when maybe I changed too? I mean, getting a new family member is kind of as important as getting a future wife, maybe. People who are just friends get names, too, I’m sure you guys got called Wake even before anyone suspected you’d ever wind up dating. I don’t think it was offensive, she’s a very good mom-friend, but she just might not be as proud of it, she’s been trying to loosen up lately. I mean, I could always get swallowed whole by a piranha plant, but barring that happening, a whole life together should be good for me.
gavinofagrabah:
What’s the plus side to having teachers think you’re a nerd? That just means they have like expectations for you now, pass. Gwen knows how i feel about not creating expectations for myself, she wouldn’t push me to do homework because that’d just be a waste of everyone’s time. If I say you’re a fail friend too, does that mean I get free trees or should I be nice to you if that’s what I want? Haha, ah tourney, the one place it was kinda cool to have a reputation; I could do this weekend, maybe. Sunday? It’d be dope to catch up.
Yeah, but when you have an off day, it also means that they’re willing to give you the benefit of the doubt which they so did not do before! She might be more stubborn than you are, though; I wouldn’t put it past her to pull some kind of sneak attack. Do you want free trees? The ones that grow in Agrabah are mostly cactuses and palm trees, it’s not like I have as many fun ones to choose from for you. Yeah, sure, Sunday works fine by me! Do you want to come see what Dunbroch’s like firsthand? I haven’t like, given you a tour of my new home yet.
bibbitybobbitymason:
You could be like the new Grandma Willow, except cooler and talking to more people than just Pocahontas’s family! Grandma Emma - except that just makes you sound old instead of a totes cool tree, so we’ll brainstorm names for you later! I’m glad you learned how to take compliments, though! That’s a totes important skill especially since I’m sure you’re probably complimented all the time. Wowza, sounds like you’re caught between a lot of third wheel situations - it’s weird, sure, but it’s not, like, horrible, right? I mean, it doesn’t make you feel horrible about yourself or anything??? Um…I feel like Cassie would like most flowers, but I like the look of pansies and I think she would too! That if-I-like-it-she-does-too! trick worked more often with Madison but it still works with Cassie sometimes so yay! Do pansies come in pink??
Are you imagining me actually dying and becoming a tree someday, Mason? I’d have to live hundreds of years to be as wise as Grandmother Willow was! I guess it’s something everyone in Auradon is supposed to learn, I just never learned it before since most comments were about how I managed to have dirt on myself when I came inside after gardening. Or went anywhere, really; I always tried to sneak in a visit to my greenhouse before whatever I was supposed to be doing, and I’m really not that much better now. What? No, I don’t mind it at all. I mean, it’s not like I’m interested in being in that kind of relationship so I don’t have any reason to feel jealous of it, really. It definitely helps when you like both halves of a couple though; I can’t imagine, like, how Gwen felt when Zoe was dating David or anything like that. Well duh, you and Madison have totally grown up together, you’re still learning more about Cassie – but they come in pink, are those the ones you want?
ollyofarendelle:
It’s hard to tell! Because if anyone could keep up, it’d probably be you - the only way to find out is to hang with Emily again, just long enough to gather data and report back your findings on whether you’re psychic or a chameleon, aysap. Thank Beast for Persephone, then; I love you but I wasn’t going to struggle through figuring out all the girly stuff with you, we would’ve just been rocking it in jeans and a hoodie, if that’s even allowed at prom. Hey, I can spend prom with everyone I care about. It’s not all or nothing, and besides, if I don’t dance with you, who are you going to dance with? Will? Didn’t think so. It’s how she feels most comfortable still. I’m not going to push her. It’ll end eventually but in the meantime I’m there for her so might as well show her, right? Relationships are weird, but I like to think I’m doing it semi-right.
That makes me sound more like I’m a scientist than a friend! Emily’s busy, I’m busy; it’s not like I feel abandoned or anything. When she wants me or needs me, I’m around, it’s not a big deal. There’s no way, you would not have shown up in jeans a hoodie to prom! Not in the Becca era anyway, I bet you would have asked Aunt Anna for help… actually, I probably would have asked Aunt Anna for help, too, your mom just would have been doing all our heavy lifting to make sure we looked presentable. Persephone, probably? Will’s going to have Blake like, all over him, I’ve heard the weird things they say about tuxedos! You don’t have to follow her, though. I mean, maybe if you started splitting time and actually came and sat with us sometimes, she’d get over herself and come try it, too? You’re a great boyfriend, as far as I can tell, but maybe she’s the one that’s not the best girlfriend.
persephonedunbroch:
Don’t remind me - the good old “my mother’s getting married and almost forgot to tell me” plot twist, I almost miss the ease and simplicity of those days. At least plants have a chance of growing again when circumstances are right - and I suppose humans do too, do they not? I’m not being weird, I’m just….being weird, you’re right. I’m sorry, I think I forgot for a second that you and I are friends. We are friends still, yes? Because I would still very much like the chance to grow a plant with you and perhaps to hang out with Blake and yourself under those circumstances. And Gavin too maybe. The more the merrier, right??
I didn’t think stuff was really that much more complicated now, but I guess I was engaged to the gay prince and my future stepsister hated me for it and I couldn’t tell his secret to anyone, so I had a lot more stress then. Life’s nice now, aside from the whole ‘Olly and Becca refuse to sit at our lunch table anymore’ thing. Of course we’re still friends; why would we not be friends? I mean, I know I haven’t set the best example lately I guess – are you… I mean, what can I do to help you feel less weird? Even if you decided you hated me again, we still live together, I don’t want to like, make you uncomfortable in your own home. Of course! I think Gavin’s coming over Sunday, do you want to invite Blake too?
kinglywill:
That was a barely veiled attempt at innuendo, my apologies. I forget you’re already privy to too much information about what goes on there. I’m glad you’re having fun with it! See?! There’s something in the prom experience for everyone! It’s called fight or flight, I suppose she just felt like running? I can’t quite say I think she only hung out with for Oliver’s sake, and I flatter myself in thinking there are no cooler friends than us, but your guess is as good as mine. What, no, I don’t know - telling Blake made that part much better, but I don’t know, having Leo and Kelsey along would feel like a very clear buffer in my opinion and if we have that, why bother pretending we’re all going together at all? If none of that stuff works? I know I’d occasionally wonder how things otherwise might have been different, but you didn’t ruin anything and I wouldn’t think of it like that, ever. Besides, Oliver is your cousin, you’ll never lose him completely. Blood is thicker than water. And moreover, Wake and Emma and Persephone were kind of the original four anyway. We’re good like this, too - my one true love, my best girl, and the mom friend to my dad friend. That’s all I need. I hope it’s a good enough little group for you, too.
If only forgetting were as easy for me! Maybe. Is this what it feels like to be a real girl for a change? To like, have all kinds of crazy theories about why this is such a big deal to her? Maybe living with Persephone is finally starting to rub off on me. Maybe Kelsey and Leo are actually just that cool and it’s not them trying to hide? Although I don’t know, I personally don’t get why Olly would want to be friends with the guy who was trying to ruin his relationship. Friends close, enemies closer? Ugh, I feel like I don’t even get what’s going on in my own cousin’s brain anymore, this is so weird. Why do people love high school drama so much? I hate this. How come you guys get a name and we don’t? We could be Pemma or Emsephone or something, otherwise you guys seem more important. Don’t let Persephone hear you call her the mom friend, though, oh my Beast. It’s kind of true, but still! I don’t want it to hurt her feelings. And I love you guys, you know that? I just never meant to cause so much trouble.
timradcliffe:
Oh! Yeah, you’re right, but I feel like I’ve already asked Gwen for a lot of advice and she probably wants to focus on her own prom with Amelia – but who am I kidding? I care too much about Zoe, if I start annoying Gwen then oh well. You’ll tell me if any of her advice sounds fake before I take it, right?
Ummmm, I’m maybe not your best person for figuring out if Gwen is giving you fake advice, but I can ask Gavin? Close enough, right?
kinglywill:
Yes, Emma my dear, those are the ones for boys. I’m not much for ordering Blake around except for in very very specific situations, of which this one doesn’t qualify. I like him being himself anyway more than I like him stuffing himself into the most formal suit he can find for me, but if we can present him a viney option? That’d be most genial, Emma, thank you! It’s not weird at all! Ssshhh, lest the kingdom think their king is a heathen. People are completely allowed to be annoyed, but we can be annoyed with friends and still keep them as our friends, yes? Friends get bugged or peeved at each other all the time, it’s totally normal! I…yeah, no, I don’t like the idea of change, especially not if it includes Leo; I quite liked our six. And it would mean a lot to me if you could see if it was repairable. And if it isn’t, that’s…that’ll be okay, too. We’re humans, the creatures of adaptibility, and so long as I have you and Blake and Persephone, I’ll be more than content. Sending a plant could work! She knows that’s how you talk! Or you could send Persephone with a message, or Oliver - use your common links.
Go no further than that, I know enough. Viney I can definitely do, don’t worry. I’m way more into making everyone flower arrangements for prom than I am into prom, this is actually kind of fun. I don’t know, apparently when someone’s annoyed at someone else the person who did the annoying thing just runs away. Maybe she only hung out with us long enough to get Olly to fall for her and now that she has him, she wants cooler friends or something, I don’t know. Still freaked out by dream boy? I thought it was cool once you talked to Blake about it, though! I don’t know, what happens if none of that stuff works? Are you guys all going to be disappointed in me for ruining the Game Night 6 forever?
persephonedunbroch:
It seems the world should give people more of a warning as to when everything’s going to change. Otherwise, people might be unprepared and when it changes from hot to cold and back again, they end up losing everything! To the weather, of course. Perhaps I really shouldn’t get into the gardening aspect of your life. Too much crossover, and just…no, that can be your thing, I shouldn’t have tried to push myself into that part of your life. I do have your dress picked out and registered on the site I’m making for Emily, yes, so don’t worry your head about that one instant. You’re right, though, that certainly wouldn’t be the best time to talk about it. In fact, I’m fairly certain we have to cut back on the celebrations in general so… perhaps I’ll just make a list of details for prom that you can consult at your own pace.
The world doesn’t always prepare us for stuff, like when our moms decided to get married, we just had to roll with the punches -- I guess plants are the same, some lucky ones manage to make it through the freeze, or the ones that die grow back when it’s warm again for real. What? No, no, I love getting the chance to share stuff with people, why are you being weird? It’s not like an imposition, it’s one plant. Oh, um... okay? Blake and Gavin have both been giving me a hard time about not sharing with them, I guess I’ll just... I don’t know, make plans with them or something and get out of your way.
