They leave quietly at first. And you think there isn’t a single trace of them left. But then you find yourself singing along to their favorite song in the car. You catch yourself mid word and your hands begin to turn white from gripping the steering wheel so hard. You think they are gone but then you find that shirt, the one that you used to sleep in for days at a time, that still smells of them and the world seems to completely stop for a moment. You thought they left quietly, but tonight it feels as if they left screaming.
