every major structural social problem right now is basically "we don't have enough skilled workers on the ground" and the reason is always "well we've been intentionally underpaying and understaffng them for decades to increase corporate profits" and somehow the news always just mentions the "shortage" without digging into the cause

air travel is a mess? shortage of air traffic controllers - for some mysterious reason

srs economic question. way way before i do my current job, i did spend a period of time learning macroeconomics. and the whole idea is that to be seen as a successful economy, not only do you have to make a profit... but profit margins has to grow every year. meaning companies expect to earn more and more money each year... but like... if you had two brain cells you should be weirded out by this concept. because yes as a company you can expand your market share, sell more products etc etc. but at a certain point... there has to be a Ceiling right? Because does economics not have to obey the fundamental physical law of conservation of matter on some existential level?? I understand money is not a physical matter but just... logically. On a philosphical level, why does profit have to increase every year? Why is it not enough that you're making a profit and that's good enough? Eventually you have to expect that the legal, ethical ways to increase profit will be maxed out and the only way to increase profit is to exploit others. that's it.

End stage capitalism is pure exploitation. the idea of a billionaire shouldn't exist. purely based on the idea that you are human your existence is just not possible to be that many times more valuable than some other human on this planet, no matter how smart, how hardworking, how unlike others you are. At the end of the day, you are a homo sapien.
