I got a tetanus shot last weekend and my arm was more sore from that than from the Moderna vaccine but it’s also pretty obvious from their blog that person is a covid denialist/anti-vaxxer so it’s entirely possible they’ve never had a vaccine

Got a pneumonia shot last year because I have asthma and the doctor was pretty pushy about it. The Pfizer shot left my arm quite sore, but the pneumonia one made it so I couldn't move my arm for almost 3 days. Worse than the flu, but nothing compares to the pneumonia one. At least I don't need another one of those for almost 20 years.

I wanted a lunch I could eat in my car in the parking lot. I forgot to pack something and really don't want to eat in anywhere or have to go in to use the microwave. Giant Eagle sushi is actually pretty good, and you can order something specific at the counter, and they'll make it for you. This was put out into the refrigerated food section like a half an hour ago so it's pretty fresh.

Okay, so I live in Pennsylvania; which is evidently heavily contested in this election. I have voted every year for the last 12 and most primaries, but I'm not a registered Republican. I am receiving some of the weirdest mailers, and at least 3 a week for the last month. I've gotten a new one every day this week so far. If they can bath mail this shit to me every day, I'm sure the post office can deliver a few mail in ballots.

Also GOP needs to go a bit easy on the crazy propaganda. Biden is evidently going to have foreigners, "Urbans," and the communists Rob, murder, and rape me with the guns he's going to grab, and force me to speak Spanish while giving my job to the Chinese and making the county atheist and get 40 week abortions. Also something racist about the 3 PoC congress women who say means things about him, and the media is lying, you can only trust Trump to tell you the truth.

Good news: I don't have glaucoma or any other eye disease according to the optician.

Bad news: I have photosensitivity. New me has to use eye drops and yellow/amber tinted glasses pretty much all the time. At least I'm not going blind, and it should help stop or reduce headaches and glare as well. I just get to be the douchebag with tinted glasses inside. I should order the loudest, most garish frames on Zenni just to live up to it.

There's this kind of embarrassing story of when I was a teenager and applying for college. I wanted to be an engineer and that's not hard to get in as for a major. When I was a freshman in the early 2000s I decided I wanted a second major passion project. A lot of my "friends" did that, but most honor's college kids tend to have stupid first majors so a major in English and then women's studies kind of works.

I was trying to figure out how to mesh engineering, math and computer science with international studies. I decided I wanted a multidisciplinary major in political science, anthropology, and history specializing in East Asia. So it was mostly an excuse to study ancient China. The history department only had so many China and Japan focused courses, but if you added Anthropology and Political Science they managed to make a working major. It really was about as useful to me as my friend with a PhD in math's second BA in gender studies, but that's not really the point.

So yeah, it was mostly informational for me, and nothing useful career wise. My Mandrin isn't even as good as my Japanese which still isn't as good as my French, Spanish, and German. Thought really English is the only language I really have mastery of. Sure I can order food, ask for the bathroom and read 1st grade books in multiple languages, but not function in society understanding. I ended up not taking my advisor's offer of a PhD program in Beijing even though it would have been fun. I'm too much of a little bitch.

In the end, this is how you end up writing computer programs for material testing so people have a sheet that says this aluminum can be use for aircrafts. Also space stuff, that has to have certs as well.

Where I'm finally going with this is how pissed off I am at Disney for fucking up Mulan. It's all I ever wanted as soon as they started on live action remakes. Disney went as problematic as JK Rowling failing to be woke.

The movie has Gong Li who is just amazing (watch Raise the Red Lantern to see how amazing she is. It's a good movie). Also Jet Li who I totally had a crush on in the late 90s early 2000s. Yeah, I watch Kung Fu movies. I've been in martial arts since I was a kid, and it speaks to me. Also Donnie Yen and Jason Scott Lee if you're a fan of martial arts movies. Likes there are big actors. I wanted this to be like Crazy Rich Asians not Fantastic Beasts 2 but in China. Great job, film an epic movie where the government collected Uyghur minority to put into reeducation camps and then thank the group that did it in the credits roll.

I really wanted to see this movie so damn much too. I was trying to get early tickets right before they pulled it in March. Ugh!

I have argued with innumerable individuals about why the Confederate Battle Flag is not acceptable, and literally no one who displays it has been swayed. I have argued that the opening of the succession of the South literally said they were doing it because of slavery, and they choose not to agree with me. I read it aloud to an acquaintance, and they argued words mean different things now or how slavery was "moral" during that time period. Oh my god, my friend who used to rent a room from me would routinely use a small ass paring knife to chop entire very large onions instead of a chef’s or santoku despite the fact that my kitchen is well stocked with many varieties of knives. In fact, he’d use the same tiny paring knife to cut everything when he would cook; be it veggies, or meat, or whatever. He didn’t want to dirty too many knives…? You know what? Let’s use the allowance example again to make it even clearer.

Let’s pretend we have an allowance tax bracket with a 70% tax on money received after a certain point. To keep things simple, we’ll make the limit $90.

If a kid does chores and earns $10 in allowance, they get $10. They’re not going to be affected by the 70% tax.

If a kid does chores and earns $50, they get $50. They also aren’t in the 70% tax bracket, even though they make five times as much money as the kid making $10.

If a kid does chores and earns $100 in allowance, then they’re in the allowance tax bracket with the 70% tax.

$100 minus $90 is $10. This is the part that’s going to be taxed 70%.

70% of $10 is $7.

So the kid getting $100 in allowance will have $93 after the 70% tax takes its share.

Now, I’d never impose such a thing on actual kids. All of this is a thought exercise.

But if it were real, the kid making $10 and the kid making $50 would probably be kind of mad if the kid getting $93 was bitching about being short $7.
