Imagine FB3 opening
Tina and Jacob are about to leave London, Newt walks alongside them. They stop near the boarding gate. Jacob hugs Newt tight, promising him to keep in touch. Newt happily returns the action.
Tina stands there quietly. Isn't sure how to say goodbye. Should she hug him too? A handshake? Or perhaps a friendly shoulder pat? Little does she know, Newt is thinking the same.
Jacob sniffs, ignoring the vague layer of tears filling his eyes and notices the awkward tension between them.
Jacob: Mind if i board first, Tina?
Tina: (stammers) wha- why?
Jacob: (shrugs, with somewhat a cheeky smile) mild headache. I need to sit down soon before it gets worse. You know i'm not good with boats.
Tina: O-oh, okay. I'll be with you soon, Jacob.
Jacob places a hand on her shoulder. Giving Tina a comforting squeeze before walking to the gangplank.
A beat.
They blurt in unison.
Newt: I'm sorry
Tina: I'm sorry
They both lower their head, chuckling.
Tina: What for?
Newt: For not keeping my promise. I should've gone to New York and give you this many months ago, but-
Newt takes something out of his pocket. It's his book, neatly wrapped. Tina is so touched, she's almost lost at words. Tears begin to form in her eyes.
Tina: (Holds the book close to her chest) Thank you. But your brother has explained everything to me, so i understand.
Newt: And also… for the magazine. The false news about- you know. (struggle to continue)
Tina bit her lower lip. Gazing at Newt endearingly the same way when Newt tried to compliment her eyes, back in the French Ministry of Magic.
Tina: Well, then i need to say sorry too.
Newt gives a questioning look.
Tina: For believing that magazine. I… i should've asked you first.
Warmth burst in Newt's chest hearing her words. Without thinking twice, he slowly reaches her free hand. His thumb gently caress her knuckles.
Newt: If… if that happens again, false news between us. Will you promise to keep writing to me?
Tina: (blushes at his action) Only if you'll do the same.
The ship's siren sounds. Their eyes linger for a moment. As if they still have so much more to say, but don't know how. Parting ways with someone have never felt so difficult.
Tina: (voice brittle, trying hard not to cry) Goodbye, Newt.
Newt: Goodbye,Tina.
Tina puts the book in her coat pocket, which fortunately fits. With a sad, yet affectionate smile, she reaches Newt's fringe. Shifting them gently before stroking down his cheek. Newt holds his breath. Instinctively leans to her touch.
Tina turns her back. Finally letting go of his hand as Newt watches her walking away. Getting further and further from his sight. Somehow, there's this part of him that keeps urging him to do something. Something he could only imagine. But he hesitates whether he should do it or not.
In the end, he follows his instinct.
Newt: Tina!! Tina! (Bumping his way through crowds, desperately goes to Tina before she vanishes from his sight)
Tina stops her steps. Couldn't tell if it's her imagination or he really is calling her name. His voice is getting closer and closer.
(Note: if you're listening to Newt Says Goodbye to Tina, this scene starts at 1:20)
Right when Tina turns around, Newt cups her face and kiss her. He shuts his eyes tight, trying not to think how she would react. Tina is surprised, but then slowly closing her eyes. Joyful tears rolled down her cheeks.
As they part, Tina's smile is the most radiant, most beautiful smile Newt has ever seen. She throws her arms around his neck to kiss him again. Newt pulls her to his embrace. Happier than he could ever been.
And so is she.
