This was pointed out to me on reddit:

when Yusuf tells the story about his unbreakable vow, and Leta reveals that the resolution for it is long dead, they seem to assume that he lived because it all happened outside of his reach/technically didn’t count as him failing to fullfill the vow …

But what if the reason is that Corvus V is still alive?

Maybe a vow can both be ended when there’s still time and means to fullfill it and when nature gets in the way/the vow isn’t broken directly …

TCOG is setup no end once more - William Nadylam is said to return as Yusuf Kama in Fantastic Beasts 3 … I hope it’s going to be for this :)

I hope so. I want Yousuf to play a big part in helping defeat Grindelwald. Jo better keep him on the good side. I’m worried about what she’ll do eith Yousuf’s character. We need black heros as well as white ones. It annoys me that all four of the main characters are white. It seems unfair. If she wants racial diversity in her films, then she should do it properly.

I’m also sick & tired of fan fiction where people trash him, or slowly erease him out of the story. Because they don’t think he’s worth a bigger part. While writers make excuses like, oh he’s not really a main character & he won’t play a big part. So I’m not keeping him in my story, even if they’ve written him in a good way. It’s a poor lame excuse. The fandom are no better than her in that regards when it comes to who the heroes are, I’m sorry to say. But it’s the truth.

So I’m hoping this theory is true. It’s a good one for sure.

I hope she can arrange for that - I do think she learned over the years and wants to add more diversity, the question is if hollywood filmmakers let her … :/

But there are chances - the next movie will already give Eulalie Hicks a more present role, and I hope Leta is going to come back too at some point… in Yusuf’s case, I’d really like for him to have a story arc where he eventually discovers Abernathy (side switch done already) but refuses to kill him only for his fathers actions …

Best conclusion I can come up with is that he instead goes for Corvus IV himself (since he likely loved himself primarily for most of his life, maybe even more than his son) with the help of the siblings, and they help him to cover it all up/ get rid of the body - I think Leta would help him in that for sure. Maybe even Theseus, Newt and the rest of the group, considering what he’s done to her and the Kama family.

XD the beast squad covers up an intended murder… wait, for a greater good … love that ^^

And I really hope he has a bigger role in the future movies too :) he’s another man of contact they have in Paris now (I doubt Flamel is available all the time) and surely Dumbledore has offerd him to join the first Order of the Phoenix

Local Bookstores Have A New Weapon In The Fight With Amazon

In the book industry, Amazon is Goliath, the giant who overshadows everyone else. But there’s a new David on the scene, Bookshop.org.

It doesn’t expect to topple the giant, but it has launched a weapon that could make Amazon’s shadow a little smaller, and help local bookstores fight back.

Bookshop.org, a website that went live at the end of January and is still in beta mode, is designed to be an alternative to Amazon, and to generate income for independent bookstores. And, perhaps more importantly, it seeks to give book reviewers, bloggers and publications who rely on affiliate income from “Buy now” links to Amazon a different option.

Profit from books sold through Bookshop will be split three ways, with 10% of the sale price going into a pool that will be divided among participating bookstores, 10% going to the publication that triggered the sale by linking to Bookshop.org, and 10% going to Bookshop.org to support its operations.

with every purchase, they tell you how much you’re putting toward independent booksellers, which is fun and cute:

it’s also amazing for authors! i’ve been asked a couple times about the best way to support my books. this site is now the answer. it reports sales figures to the NYT and Bookscan, a type of tracking that helps authors hit bestseller lists. and even better, authors can set up affiliate pages, and if you buy through those pages, we get an additional 10 percent of each sale on top of royalties. this is a massive deal!!!

for reference, many royalty rates are in the 6-8 percent range. so if you buy through Bookshop author affiliate pages, authors get more than twice as much from sales of their books, with no additional cost to you.

the site is still in beta, but it also has a fun interface where you can make book lists for favorites or recommendations, sort of like goodreads (except better, because goodreads is owned by amazon).

They’ve increased the percentage we get from sales through affiliate links during the COVID-19 crisis, which is a really big deal for the stores that can’t or don’t run their own online shops – which, with most stores shut down, is a lot. Even those of us trying to operate remotely could really use the extra boost.
