When my friends are going through emotional struggles, I just want to help them in any and every way I can. But sometimes I have to stop myself and ask. 'should I help? Do they want my help? Would helping only make things worse?' And it kills me that my friends are struggling emotionally and there is nothing I can do.
college is, like, really important. but if you don’t do well, remember you can still get paid to run a tumblr for a restaurant.
we’re finally unlocking the dennys admin’s backstory
I wish we had the ability to dream together with other people. Like multi-player dreaming.
To have someone understand your mind is a different kind of intimacy.
Can't stop the feelings
Why can't I just be satisfied with the life I have? I have a good paying job, a nice car, a good apartment, a loving wife, and so much more. And yet I dream and fantasize of relationships that are out of reach. It's like I have this strange desire to dismantle everything I have to obtain an impossible relationship with someone that I know will never reciprocate my feelings for them. This is a serious problem, and I don't know what to do about it.
“...and the American way”
This piece by Harebrained Schemes art director Mike McCain is so gorgeous and I love it and if you want a print of it, you can buy it here.

Shout out to people who have a hard time controlling their volume when talking, and who always speak too loudly or too quietly.
Whether you are teased for being too quiet but it’s really nerves/anxiety/shyness, and/or you have a hard time talking in an “indoor” voice when excited so people are constantly telling you to quiet down and “chill out”.
You’re okay. I know you try hard. I know you mumble incoherently when scared and yell when talking about something that excites you. It’s okay. I do it too.
can I say as someone who’s actually somehow both I really appreciate this post
This is me. I mumble because I think I am being ignored, and I am too loud when I get excited and think people are listening to me.
Moving forward
My family and I are coming up at a bit of a crossroads soon. Things are relatively stable right now, but I know it won't last much longer. Our one roommate will be leaving us soon, as he will be getting married. Without him we can't cover rent. My sister-in-law may be moving in to take his place, but nothing is set in stone yet. We may have to move if things don't work out. I am trying to not let fear of the unknown set in, telling myself that the certainties in my life currently outnumber the uncertainties.
Appreciation
We all want to feel wanted and appreciated sometimes. It is how the world reminds us that we are needed. To know that other people appreciate my efforts, whether at work or at home, gives me a warm feeling inside. Is it selfish to desire this feeling? To go out of my way to help others so that they appreciate me? Don't get me wrong, I also like helping people just for the sake of helping people. I got a fist bump at work from one of my managers for doing a good job, and a hug from a friend who isn't feeling well, for helping them get to bed okay. Sometimes its little gestures like this that can go a long way.
Good days
Today was one of the good days. I had off from work, and the weather was great. Went to lunch with the wife and her sister to Mr.Sticky's. Unfortunate name, but good sandwiches and sticky buns. Then we went to Verizon to enjoy all the new tech, and ponder the possibility of new phones. We then looked at a small home that is up for rent-to-own! It is in a shady/run down part of town, and needs some tlc, but it could be a nice starter home. Afterwards I took my car to the new carwash in town to give it some needed tlc! One wash and vacuum session later, and it was looking good as new! Then to finish off the day, we and some friends went to Monday night trivia at a local inn. We never win, but it's something to do, and the food is fantastic!! I hope everyone had a Good day!
Emotions are assholes
Don't be fooled by Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out. Emotions are assholes. They make me angry or sad, when I should be happy or excited. They give me mixed signals and guide me down mental paths I should not follow. They make me feel emotions for things and people that I should not be feeling. Everyone says trust your feelings and follow your heart, but I have to constantly fight these feelings to keep myself from getting in trouble
So I should probably explain the picture I have as my blog banner. So @nasa needs an efficient system for pooping in space while in their suits. So they devised a competition for individuals to design a simple, efficient, and effective means of removing poop from their space suits. And this was (one of?) The official logos for the competition. Lets just say that I kind of fell in love with it. Dramatic in design, but inherently goofy. Extremely silly without context. I want it as a poster, or on a t-shirt.
Choices? What are they good for?
I had the option to take off work today (sunday). I work in a factory, and we were done with production and clean-up for the day, before my shift even started. I currently work 2nd shift, 4 to midnight. I was so tempted to take the offer to have off today, because then I would have gotten two days off, as mondays and fridays are currently my regular days off. But we need the money. We can't afford for any of my paychecks to be short, so I had no choice but to say that I would come in today.
Why must life get more complicated as we get older? It used to be so simple. Go to school, hang out with friends, video games, birthday parties, weekends, home-made pizza on fridays, etc. And now all I have are shadows of these once great things. Friends are off being amazing at life, alone time doesn't exist, birthdays are no longer celebrated with gusto, I work on weekends, and I can't remember the last time I had my moms home-made pizza.
