m///onster p///rom is driving me up a wall

hanging off him, she laughs softly before nuzzling into his temple. ❝ mhm, though i haven’ found any willin’ prey, as of yet anyway. ❞ though he could be her target for now considering she was getting restless. ❝ put those papers away. let’s go shower together. ooh, maybe a bubble bath? ❞
Despite her dangling off his shoulders, he keeps walking while checking over his work for the thousandth time. Castle’s staff pass by them quietly although bowing before they continue past; he wonders how accustomed to seeing this everyone was, but it’s easier with no need to explain himself. He hums grandiosely, thinking over her proposal before answering, “That’s because anyone with common sense ran for the hills.” She’s made quite a reputation for herself, or others made one for her. “Shouldn’t the queen keep her beloved king focused on his work instead of trying to distract him at every turn?”

❛ i hope you have the answer on what to do next .. darling . ❜ after the last student got their answer after paying her a visit for some helpful advice & carrying on the day elsewhere with a smile on both their faces . at the same time looking at the clock on the wall , it’s getting around that hour of getting a drink or two before today ends & knows it . ( probably tag along with her usual besties ) until a fellow teacher caught her eye from that greeting of a liner .
❛ sorry , when second years line up for advise regarding their career paths to whatever , i can’t help it ~ ! ❜ lowkey motherly or a perfect example of a teacher , it’s natural of her being there for said & lower year students . ❛ so , what brings you to my side of the faculty ? ❜
Seeing students flocking around her doesn’t surprise Thane anymore; his daughters do the same whenever they come across her, although he insists they bother her too much. He thinks being in the spotlight must be exhausting, which is why he distances himself from it. It didn’t suit him anymore. “There’s nothing wrong with diligently teaching outside the classroom,” he assures, “The job doesn’t really end when the bell rings.” It’s their responsibility to guide their students to ensure they have everything they need to succeed. His field was far less exciting than hers by comparison. He was there for the ones that sought opportunities outside of being a hero and encourages them with resolve. “I wanted to invite you to lunch if you’ve got the time.”
"Lancer, I pray that my faith in you is enough to aid your time of hardships. Should you ever wish to find comfort within my arms, I shall welcome you whenever you desire."
Thane knows his expression must have been troubled for her to comfort him. He often refuses to express himself, keeping the same expression to conceal his thoughts. Being around her makes him lax because he doesn’t feel the need to hide anything from them. She isn’t a noble trying to get into his good graces or an assassin eager to plunge their blade into his heart. She’s someone he knows he could confide in. His mind often turns to his reign, wondering if he was genuinely happy in those days. So many things happened that he never had the time to think back on them, but being a heroic spirit grants him that privilege — a chance to think over his decisions properly. From his throne, he did no wrong; he didn’t doubt his choices or his conviction, committing himself to his words. A fickle king attracts fickle followers. Ones that would sully his noble intentions. He props his spear beside him smiling and slipping off his gloves before taking her hand in his. Pressing his lips the back of her hand, he speaks, “Your faith is more than enough for me, and I hope mine is enough for you.” He places another kiss on the back of her hand before smiling. “I’m just thinking back on a few things I did when I was king. I didn’t doubt myself back then, and I still don’t since I acted on my best judgment, but I still wonder what else I could have done.”
@burdensword
Gently runs her fingers through his hair. She was spoiled, yes. But she also has to spoil him after being hard at work all the time. Smiling to herself, lips press a kiss to his cheek before gathering him close. "Let's take a break, go for a walk or something, okay?"
Pushing himself into her side happily, he luxuriates in the feeling of being in her arms. He knows he should be working, but he could afford some time off today, and there isn’t any place he wants to be other than by her side. Thane doesn’t mind putting himself behind to pamper himself. It’s his reward for working so hard, although that’s implicit between them. He finished the final touches on the next festival, so now all he needs to do is attend. He’ll bring her along again since he needs the company; otherwise, he’ll brave it alone and end up wearing himself out. Having her there makes it more feasible for him to settle down and enjoy the party like everyone else. All the work he’s been doing kept them going on too many dates with just the two of them. He tries making time for her, but sometimes his plans fell through, and he knows she’s disappointed. Her fingers combing through hair make him purr peacefully, closing his eyes and resolving himself. That wouldn’t happen this time, even if it’s not just the two of them this time.
Thane hopes they can stay like this for a little longer, but taking a walk was a good idea. He knows just the place too, where no one would interrupt them again. In his free time, he started a garden to substitute for the one that used to be alongside the castle, and it turned into a lovely grove. No one went inside without his permission, so he likes to sneak there to be alone. He enjoys sitting under the shady trees eating the fruit that fell into his lap, and there’s even a spring. A lot of trouble for a side project, but he looks at as more than that. His arms close around her intimately while he buries his face in his neck, kissing the underside of her throat with a smile. “The garden should be empty; I haven’t had a chance to show you the flowers I found yet, either. How’s that sound?”

She pauses for a moment, gaze looking up towards him as her hand hovered over one of the items. She felt almost happy, a smile beginning to pull at the corners of her lips. Compliments were foreign to her, no matter what form they took. Her hand rested on the counter. “ That’s.. a good thing ? ” she asked.
The scanner gave one definitive beep before whirring quietly as he aims the screen towards her revealing the total. He reaches beneath the counter and bags up several things before setting them neatly aside. “Yes,” he clarifies thoughtfully, “I’ll have to take you stargazing again so we can catch up properly. Would you like that?”
Checking the time proves he isn’t running behind, although he’s not early either. He planned on being here sooner, but he chose to do a few more things before he called it a day, which led to him losing track of time. At least where he’s heading wasn’t far. It’s just around the bend from the school, and finding her is easy. She’s standing to the side away from everyone else but waiting patiently. Shuffling the last of his reports into his bag, he fixes the strap on his shoulder until it’s comfortable before nudging her with his shoulder when he’s close enough to reach her. “What happened to being fashionably late?” He points out with a smile.

Inodal proved to be a setting of sheer wonderment, far exceeding any ounce of expectation that the fair-haired vagabond even considered. thane ruled his land well and to near perfection, having not met even a single soul that would protest against his reign. musashi felt satisfied to represent his stronghold in times of conflict and war, which was enough to speak volumes - considering that she was not the sort to abide by sovereignty. instead, musashi followed behind him and in suit, a leisurely strolling spring in her step as azure pearls bestowed sights unto the unfamiliar quarters of his castle.
but her concentration was broken as thane continued, prompting distance to close entirely as the vibrant beauty drew closer to him, peering curiously as she listened intently. bandits ?? say no more, for she was always ready to oppose others as a means of bettering her abilities.
❝ I’m more than happy to go alone, thane-san. you needn’t concern yourself with my safety and well-being. I’m a big girl, I can handle it !! ~ ❞
of course he would not listen to her poor attempt at reassurance, for he continued on with his way to the archway. wonderment plagued a typically cheery visage, lips pursed as eyes widened, glistening with an almost infantile awe-laden expression. his instructions were abided by without fault nor protest, doing as what was told as musashi held her breath accordingly, becoming enveloped in a blinding ray that near resembled her experience when ascending back to the throne of heroes upon death. in a matter of mere moments, all grew dark once again as they emerged into what looked rather similar to the room they were just in, turning her gaze to meet his own instinctively.
❝ Last chance, thane-san. I’m more than happy to go on my own, you belong back at the castle - so leave it to me !! ❞
She’s more than capable of following directions, which pleases him, although he wonders why she isn’t apt to do so outside of these circumstances. He gives her the undertakings he does to entertain her and ensure she doesn’t catch anyone up in her shenanigans. Doing it this way was clever of him to guarantee it’s to his advantage, but eventually, he’ll run out of tasks to occupy her. “I have to ensure you complete the job properly,” he replies, unquestionably disregarding her words. Marching from the crystal chamber, he makes his way through the guards into the hall, remembering where the exit was. He’s made this trip countless times, so seeing him here isn’t strange to those servicing the residing lord. They bow to him as he passes but refrain themselves from stepping between him and his destination. Compared to his castle, they decorated this one far fancier. Gems ran the tops of the walls and encrusted the torches, making them shine. It doesn’t take him long to find the exist since this room was closer to the exit than his. The city streets and beautiful sunshine greeted him. He hears the peddlers selling their wares and the sound of ores being melted down.
Finding fine jewelry here was an easy task; their craftsmanship was second to none since it’s the entire trade here. If he found the time, then he wants to find something to offer his next guest to earn their favor. He knows they’ll give him the fairest rate instead of trying to bargain with him. They would fear the wrath of their king if their craftsmanship didn’t impress them. Grazing his fingers over his collar his robes glimmered, changing into a cloak over civilian clothes. He wants to avoid drawing attention because he hadn’t announced his visit publicly. Seeing their king here was an incredible sight, but it could a foreboding one. It means trouble was on the horizon. Thane’s clothes were enchanted, so anyone that sees his face won’t recognize him; they’ve served him well over the years. He uses them, namely, as a precaution under dire circumstances. “We’ll use the east gate which means we’re crossing the market distinct. Keep your hands to yourself and don’t fall behind.” Everyone’s shops were bustling, and now they flag down anyone they can find that caught their eye. The roads were congested as a result, so getting separated became a lot easier. If that happened then, he’d spend the rest of the day trying to find her again if he’s unfortunate.
Leaving his warning hanging between them as his final words, he steps forward towards the crowd before hesitating to face her again. His eyes narrow, studying her expression, but whatever he’s searching for isn’t displayed on his. “And if I sent you out on your own and something happened, then I’d be racked with guilt. You wouldn’t want that, would you?” The regal expression he has relaxes when he smiles before heading off to retake the lead.
ramble ramble
she's been quiet all day, mostly because she's been causing havoc elsewhere. but she's given thane time to work and even then she doesn't make much noise. well not until she kindly moves his work away to set down a plate of pasta and a cup of wine infront of him. he still has to eat, and she wants to care for him.
Thane spent his time diligently keeping his work in check, but the slips in his ethic put him behind. He starts with the finances confirming who paid their taxes and providing opportunities to those that hadn’t. Serving the crown was the easiest way to earn a living, but he doesn’t force everyone into military service. They can either spend their time fighting to defend Inodal or find another trade to work in with his advisement. He ensures there’s always a job waiting for them, but he’s left with many vacant positions. Planning the harvest festival comes next since he needs to reward the farmers for another bountiful harvest. He wants them to see their efforts firsthand and know how much they contributed to everyone. Armies couldn’t march on empty stomachs or determination alone. His progress isn’t comparable to a human’s; he’s able to tackle more than one task quickly adapting as he goes. In his focused state, he completed more than half his paperwork easily, and his concentration only lapses at that point. He notices he’s all alone. She wasn’t there hanging off his shoulders, pestering him into chasing her again; she isn’t darting past him after causing mayhem in the kitchen or the barracks, and her laughter isn’t anywhere to be found. It should relax him, but it bores him instead. To think he misses her antics this much after scolding her over them. He wonders when he had a change of heart. On his left were the completed documents neatly piled, and on the right were the messy ones he needs to finish. The dent he put in them was reasonable, but there’s more to be done. Thinking everything would go to plan was foolish, so he needs to prepare measures to ensure success. He loses himself in strategizing and overlooks when she comes to him with food in hand and wine in the other. The sound of the plate causes him to start; he tentatively circles his fingers around the glass and smiles. “Talk to me for a little while. Everything’s starting to blur together again.”

“I’ll not track a single drop. I wouldn’t want to make trouble for you, my darling.” Darling. That was certainly a nickname that suited him. Albedo could only smile innocently and tilt her head at him. As if she hadn’t committed any crime. As if she was just an ordinary woman. “Besides I think most of what is on me has dried on me by now. But if any should fall, fear not. I can always lick whatever falls right up. Like I do with most things.” She grins at him deviousness in those yellow golden hues. She happily follows behind him like a child whose on their way to the candy store. A pep to her step. All of her earlier malice and frustrations forgotten. “It is interesting to me how humans live though. All cramped into one building. So odd. I am use to the large walls and halls of my tomb back home.” She comments, as she walks through the door he had opened for her. “But I suppose there is a certain charm in however one chooses to live.”
Thane plans to hold her to her word, but he knows she’s right. They had been talking so casually he started losing track of time, and he wonders if he’s been closed off for too long. It’s rare he finds someone close to himself in nature despite their contrasts. To talk so casually with a stranger, he knows he’s been desolate. As bewitching as her smile is, he’s partial to his doubts since he knows what’s beyond it. If they had met under different circumstances, he wonders if he would have been any the wiser. “I wouldn’t make you go that far.” He wonders if she says the things she does for his benefit or her amusement in his reaction. From the entryway, more doors were indicating the different units, and Thane’s was the closest to them on the right side. The reason he decided on here is that it’s near to the campus; he could easily walk to work without worrying about traffic keeping him at bay. Behind them, the door closes with a click muffling the outside air and engines whining to life. He still hears the city even within these walls, but he’s accustomed to the noise and never found a reason to lament it.
“I guess we’re not too different then. I’m used to castle walls and tall towers on all sides.” His castle comes to mind sharply. He sees the patchwork of stone climbing high into the sky and protecting everything inside. Digging through his pockets, he grabs his keys and opens the door ushering her inside. Thane kept things simple when he moved from place to place. He narrowed his options to studio spaces with everything in reach. His couch pulls into a bed, and there was a kitchen for him to cook with. Over by his makeshift bed, there’s a shelf filled with movies, then next to that was an aquarium full of tropical fish. When she’s inside, he shuts the door before setting his groceries down on the counter, “Let me find you something to wear before I throw your dress in the wash. Make yourself at home.” Near the self with his movie collection is a chest with his clothes; he knows something he has should fit her and keep her from lingering around exposed.

She can hide her footsteps, but he caught her scent, whether she knew it or not. He doesn’t stagger when she lands on him hanging from his back. His attention strays from the papers in his hands to grant her a smile, “On the hunt again?”

“Too sharp you say? That is quite kind of you to say. Be careful trying to charm a being like myself. It could get you into a lot of trouble.” She giggles softly, and then at his next question she only giggles even more. Bloodlust and killing were her favorite desires to indulge. They gave her a thrill like no other. “Sadly yes. You see–this body has yet to be—well, truly tasted. They are other ways to steal desire and lust you know. Especially with how simple human creatures can be. Kisses and touches do a lot more than one would think.” She grins at how he doesn’t shy away from her gloved touch. “Oh of course. I have my contacts you see, my other demonic servants.” And with a wave of her other hand, a brief portal opens. Demons, bug like in appearance would soon seep through and collect the remains. “They will feed the remains to our nastiest and hungriest of monsters. As it should be.” Albedo then takes a step closer to him. “But you know, my dress is still dirty. Perhaps—instead of going to my lord, maybe you can help get me out of it? Help me–clean it?”
Her standards must have let many daunted; he imagines the frustration and despair she leaves behind, although he sees more corpses than condemned men. Thane wonders if that’s her outlet to keep herself from becoming frustrated. Everyone takes the edge off with something. They would turn to the bottle or start smoking — anything to calm their nerves. Compared to them, her only bizarre habit was how she went about announcing her displeasure. He doesn’t see any fault in her ways. “I see.” Subtlety isn’t lost on him. To be overzealous genuinely did more harm than good, but everyone’s preferences were unique. When her servants appear, he wonders if they always look this way; he’s seen monsters in all sizes and forms but rarely were any similar to the last. Seeing them all was a fool’s errand, but someone’s surely taken it up before. Thane appreciates the thorough work they do; there was nothing left when they finished carrying it away. Tomorrow when he’s reading the news, he knows he’ll find a missing person report but nothing else. Nothing would turn up now that she’s dealt with the mess. He expects her to return with her familiars, but she’s still here with him. Her curiosity is something to behold; he doesn’t know whether to indulge it or dismiss her openly. Knowing the latter could lead to a scuffle makes him doubt choosing it. Thane assumes indulging her won’t hurt either until she’s fatigued of him. “Promise not to track blood on the floor?” At least he’s close to home. They’re behind his apartment, and he only bumped into her by chance. He steps past until he finds the door he’s looking for and opens it for her.
