This is my main blog, where I monologue about whatever fictional characters are currently leasing my brain space. I generally stick to one fandom at a time; most recently it's Stardew Valley, but I was formerly in the Death Note fandom, which may pop up on occasion (you can find my old intro post here, with links to all my DN meta and ask responses). The Autobiographical Stuff

My name is Holly, I'm a queer woman (she/her) in my 20s. I have 3 jobs and am doing postgraduate research at university, but you will most often catch me neglecting my responsibilities to write fanfiction. This is my little haven away from the real world, so I don't talk about politics here, but since the world is an absolute hellscape at the moment, I will say I am very left-wing. I am also not from the U.S. :)

The Fun Stuff

At the moment, 90% of my thoughts are consumed by Sam and Sebastian. I love them in all forms; friends, lovers, exes, an alterous situationship, some wild and messy mysterious fifth option. My major multichapter at the moment is Friendship and Other Lies, which is a 24-chapter Sambastian college AU, but I also have at least 5 other WIPs cooking for them at all times. Asks/DMs are always open, and I love to yap at length, so I will happily answer anything to do with Stardew or my writing!!

The Logistical Stuff

For all SDV reblogs, I use the tags #stardew valley and #[character] sdv. For original SDV posts, I use #empress talks sdv. For meta posts, I use #meta. For personal or unrelated posts, I use #empress lore. Other tags you might see are #ass trio (for Sam, Sebastian and Abigail), #ass trio [remixed] (for Sam, Sebastian and Alex), and #sambastian (for the Sam/Sebastian ship).

I wasn't terribly consistent about tagging until recently, so if you're here for DN, the only thing you'll be able to find reliably tagged is #meronia - sorry!!!

SAM STARDEW VALLEY !!!!!!!!!!

My absolute favourite way to characterise Sambastian is as an unstoppable-force-meets-immovable object kind of dynamic. Sebastian who refuses to be loved meets Sam who loves him at all costs. Sebastian with his walls up so high meets Sam who never stops knocking. I just love Sebastian being so closed off, turned away from the outside world, buried so deep in his own self-loathing that being around someone for too long feels like imposing himself on them; and then there's Sam who's so open, who lives so freely and loves so easily, who couldn't care less about Sebastian being awkward or weird or whatever else he believes about himself because he just wants him around in any capacity. Sebastian who declines 10 hangouts in a row because he needs time alone to recharge, and Sam who keeps asking anyway, because to him, Sebastian is worth the wait. Sebastian who assumes the only way out of hell is a highway, and Sam who offers him a little pocket of refuge off the dirt road he's still stuck on. Sam who's both high-energy and low-pressure, who can just talk and talk and talk and doesn't expect anything in return, because he doesn't need Sebastian to be perfect or sociable, he just wants him to be there, and Sebastian listens and listens and listens because sometimes just being there is the only thing he knows how to do.

The morning was just rounding the corner into afternoon when Sebastian's door swung open without a knock of warning. He jolted to life, his eyelids heavier than he remembered them being when he last checked in with his body. He pushed back his shoulders and straightened his spine, which brought his attention to a pointed spot of searing agony right between his shoulder blades.

This was a common enough occurrence that he immediately knew the intruder was Abigail. No one else ever threw his door open with so much force, and no one else marched right up to his desk as though they were about to take a swing at his computer.

Sebastian did not look up from the screen.

"What?" he said.

Early bubblings of irritation quickly soared up the rage meter when his monitor was unplugged.

"Hey!" he exclaimed, finally looking up to meet her eyes. "What the fuck?"

The glare he met was the same one he had seen at the Flower Dance a mere day ago. Her brows were inverted, inner corners slanted towards her nose. Her eyes were narrowed to slits. Her mouth was pinched downward at the corners, wound up tightly as though every muscle in her jaw had gone towards the act of frowning.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" she said.

The answer was, a lot of things. It was a matter of identifying which one she was pissed about on this particular occasion.

"You turned off my computer while I was in the middle of working," he said (a lie; if he admitted he was thinking about getting out of town, she would probably handcuff him to a post just to keep him there).

She barrelled on.

"You've been a complete dick to me and Sam the last few weeks, and I'm sick of it. What's up your ass?"

Ah. That.

Currently Watching: I don't really watch a lot of shows, but the last movie I watched that really stuck with me was Obsession and I was deep in a YouTube video essay rabbit hole for a hot minute. You know when you watch something and immediately know it's going to alter your brain chemistry? That was that movie for me

Currently Reading: Tragically I have not really been reading much lately :') I legitimately cannot remember the last published book I read. The last fic I read was sebastian and the rotten, terrible, no good plan by @planetary-nooo, which was for Sam's birthday and it was super cute!!

Current Obsession: So there's this game called Stardew Valley--

Currently Working On: My thesis unfortunately 😵‍💫 however the last fanfic-related thing I worked on was Tears and Obsidian chapter 3

Currently Wearing: Black tracksuit pants, a white shirt + purple hoodie and thick fluffy socks. It is SO cold here 🥶

Last Search: I've been playing a LOT of Stardew lately so it's a ton of wiki searches. Most recently it was "shed stardew"
