i will be reblogging pretty much anything about emre here; fanart, writing, headcanons, etc., BUT...

hmm... idea time ☝

emre skin where instead of being a screen-kinda thing, chernobog is some sorta like... eldritch parasite creature, and the eye actually blinks and such; emre himself would have sort of a "bloodborne" aesthetic going on, i think (not that ive ever played bloodborne, but ive seen plenty of screenshots from it ofc)

my mental image of this looks really cool but i havent drawn a fan-skin in so long... maybe i should though idk

had a bit of a thought-train earlier today while idly sketching (i ended up blanking the canvas but thats beside the point rn) about how exactly emre ended up getting entangling with "the conspiracy"/chernobog

we know he had plenty of job opportunities after leaving overwatch; i cant help but wonder if either:

whatever he ended up deciding to do ended up incidentally leading him into an encounter with the mysterious organization (somehow?); couldve been something as mundane as him noticing the eye symbol hidden somewhere, taking a picture like "what is this?", then skip forward a few days and suddenly he has Disappeared Mysteriously, without a single clue as to his whereabouts

OR

it was a set-up; they specifically targeted him (under the guise of something entirely unassuming) with something they *knew* he would be interested in (judging by whatever information theyve collected, which is rather extensive, im sure), and he took the bait

both ways could be pretty compelling, imo... maybe theres some secret third option that hasnt occurred to me though, if anyone else has ideas about that i SO wanna hear them

as a tguy myself i Love the idea of trans emre. however in that case i think there's no way chernobog would let him get hrt. chernobog Would torture emre with dysphoria for 10+ years because hrt is not necessary to chernobog. now if emre had gotten an oophorectomy (ovary removal surgery) prior to chernobogification, that Does introduce something interesting to the equation, since then emre would have 0 hormones and testosterone would be medically necessary for physical health, not just mental health. that's the only way i can think of that would let chernobogified emre have hrt cause emre'd be like If you don't let me take my weekly shot I'll rot and die (or whatever happens to the body without hormones idk) otherwise? rip emre's mental health poor guy no t, life becomes 100x shittier. plenty of fic possibilities i'd say.

I think Emre is not officialy declared missing or dead by law in Ow universe and I think this is very shady.

Can you imagine the heartbreak of Emre's parents, after not being able to contact him for a month, finally putting in a missing person report. . . only for the report to vanish next time they check the status of it.

So they submit again.

And again, when that one vanishes to.

And again. And again. And again. And again. And again, and again, and again-

And now they're banned from calling the non-emergency number- the endless bureaucracy of their local police is tired of hearing from them. The police say they've investigated the supposed IT failure only to find that no such report was ever generated in the system- they say they even hired a computer expert to pull apart the hardware of the police data servers to check, and they still found no evidence that his parents ever submitted any reports.

(Emre found himself in Istanbul, once. He knows better than to try and see his parents. He can't let them get involved. He doesn't want them in danger, he doesn't- he doesn't want them to see what he's become.)

So Emre's parents are deemed 'troubled' and are gently recommended to apply for assisted living. And their social media posts trying to raise awareness to find Emre are deemed as hoaxes because enough people claim to be the family of Overwatch strike team members for money/status that the algorithm on most platforms bans such posts on the spot. And their grassroots efforts around the neighborhood fizzle out. And the Overwatch HQ explodes and every contact they had with the organization stops replying.

. . . every year, on his birthday, Emre's parents light a candle. They spend the evening in silence. They know by now it's futile to say anything.

GREAT news for people (me) who like playing as ashe, neon junction is an absolute snipers alley for her in particular. its so beautiful the way i can tear through the enemy team like theyre made of cardboard no matter if im on attack or defense there <3

emre also pretty good on the new map! especially on defense. throw grenades at attacker spawn door a sec before it opens, leave them half-dead the moment they step outside 👍

im not a "strategy" person by any means but this is just my 2 cents based on experience lol

Headcanon: Mina Liao enjoyed these really high-end, expensive nice taiwanese oolong full-leaf teas. Like that was her go-to expensive beverage- they're delicate leaves, you're supposed to brew a lot of them at once, with lower temperature water, for a VERY short amount of time per batch, and then you resteep them and resteep them, savoring the subtle changes in flavor per batch. They have a very mild but complex flavor, ranging from sweet to nutty to floral, not from any flavorings but purely due to the craft of these leaves from specialty tea growers. Like this is NICE tea. Echo has had the intricate brewing instructions memorized since day 1- it was used to test her cognitive abilities.

One time in old Overwatch, Emre helped Mina's division and as thanks, she gifted him a few ounces of her favorite, precious tea leaves. And he comes back the next week going "hey, it was great! Lovely bitter flavor."

And Mina blinks. "Bitter?"

"Yeah, I know you told me to only steep them for a little, but they were good with just my normal steeping time!"

"How long did you steep them for?"

"Oh, only ten minutes. And I forgot to turn down the stove, so the water was boiling. But that's fine, right? Tea is tea."

And the Oslo Watchpoint gets to witness Mina Liao- mother of Aurora, famously level-headed and understanding -chasing someone across the Watchpoint, ranting, fuming, wielding a rolled-up newspaper as a weapon.

And the person being chased? Emre Sarioğlu, member of the Strike Team who's infamous across all of Overwatch for being the most self-sacrificially nicest man alive.

Jack Morrison cannot believe his goddamned eyes when the write-up hits his desk. He calls Ana on the spot and reads the report to her. They laugh their asses off and dismiss all disciplinary charges.

Every time Emre visited Oslo from thereon out, he got at least one comment about "gonna brew it right this time?" from one smartass or another who witnessed the incident.

The incident is even recounted at Mina Liao's funeral. Playfully, but awkwardly, as everyone wonders why Emre didn't show for the funeral of such a close colleague.

Emre doesn't learn of her death until three years later. His first thought is of how he never got to try her tea the 'right' way. He allows himself a little laughter, if only to stave off the thought that he might have had something to do with the bombing that caused her death.
