Most characters are going to be tagged by #(character's in-game name) overwatch or by their full "real" names!
I think Mizuki and Sojourn are very similar types of people- they both repress a LOT as their main coping mechanism. A therapist might ask Sojourn if she needs to vent about being trapped in the wreckage of the Swiss HQ and then having to coordinate the hundreds of funerals while simultaneously testifying against her dead friends in front of the entire world and she replies "yeah, it wasn't fun" and doesn't elaborate. A therapist might ask Mizuki if he needs to vent about being basically child trafficked, raised as a hostage, forced to kill for the Hashimoto, and having his arm taken from him and he also goes "yeah, it wasn't fun" and doesn't elaborate.
Mizuki screws up for the first time since he's joined Overwatch. He's walking to Sojourn's office for the coaching meeting and he is certain he's about to lose another arm despite him logically knowing Sojourn wouldn't do that. She wouldn't do that. She wouldn't do that. Right?
When he finally gets there he can't even look up from his shoes. It takes all of Sojourn's kindest words to unfreeze him from the "discipline" he's conditioned himself into to protect himself. She's only working with a fraction of knowledge about where he came from and what more she's able to glean both scares the hell out of her and makes her the angriest she's ever been in recent memory. She lets the latter slip only when he's long gone from her office; she actually lets herself angry-cry into her coffee before she continues working.
Posting their portraits again, but together this time! kinda messed up and made emre's more detailed, but ah well, i'm happy with the results. Hope i can finish their fullbodies at some point as well!
took me forever but here are the emre portraits i started a while ago, based on the redesign sketched back then. Similar to the ones i painted for freja, the design might change once i get to make the fullbodies versions, but we'll see!
With the new Wrecking Ball comic- Talon and the "EMP to cover a continent" is such a good fucking plot thread. I imagine Vendetta trying to hold the metaphorical gun to the head of the world. . . only for Emre (or rather, Chernobog) to activate the EMP behind her back for its own plans.
If Emre ever time-traveled I want him to be an asshole to his past self. Manifest that crippling self-loathing! Make him feel both disgusted and envious of past Emre's naivete! Make that man blame himself while also trying so desperately to save himself. Make him put his past self on an impossible pedestal that no human alive could ever meet. "You are the version of myself I can never be again but that everyone else deserves instead of my current broken self" and then watch the fireworks go off.
The only Emre selfcest scenario I've genuinely sort of thought about is where our Emre, post Chernobog-removal, time travels back ten years ago to basically yell at himself to stay in Overwatch to save himself from the Conspiracy. Except past Emre sees this fucked up hyperventilating cyborg and (rightly?) pegs the guy as crazy and calls the police.
So our Emre runs, then goes to past Freja (who's still in Overwatch), gives his whole spiel about being a time traveler and past Emre being in danger. Freja, being smart, believes him. They then go save past Emre from the Conspiracy, but not before Overwatch gets involved and our Emre gets to verbally kick Morrison's ass about how he needs to clean up Overwatch or the HQ is exploding.
This creates a ripple effect. When our Emre returns to the future, the timeline's fundamentally changed- Overwatch never fell, Talon got beat, no more Conspiracy, etc. . . past Emre and Past Freja meet back up with him and now they've both got rings on their fingers.
So our Emre has saved the timeline! Thousands of lives saved, through either Talon not being around or because all of our Emre's crimes via the Conspiracy have been erased. And Freja gets a version of himself to love that isn't cybernetic and traumatized and "broken"! How perfect. Everything worked out.
Our Emre thought he'd be erased, but he's still. . . here. So he tells Past Emre to take good damn care of Freja. Asks him to look after their parents. Makes plans to go somewhere his body won't be found.
Past Freja and Past Emre, of course, hear about these plans and go "absolutely not! You saved this entire timeline, you deserve good things too" and essentially take him in. One thing leads to another, our Emre can't hide his feelings for past Freja for long. . . and past Freja's like "why would I say no to having two of the man I adore?" and past Emre basically permits himself to be cucked out of raw Sarioğlu-typical selflessness before he too genuinely starts to catch feelings.
So that's my idea of how our Emre accidentally ends up in a polycule with Freja and his untraumatized self.
Absolutely hilarious to get this at the top of my inbox after a week of moving hell
I'm not super into it but I like it significantly better than incest shipping. For some characters, selfcest really is just shipping two essentially different people who are only thematically/multiversally "the same guy" so the fact that it's considered as taboo feels weak? Even if it's an exact clone that has all your memories, the longer you and the clone spend apart, you become different people by sheer virtue of having two different experiences. And if you're one consciousness split across two bodies, it's just masturbation. Not really a problem, at least to me.
If you hit Emre with the "would you fuck your clone" question he'd turn bright red and refuse to speak to you. Vs Freja would be like "sure, why not?"
