I’m not typically one for the “pithy retort reblog” but like...this is a bad take, friend. The purpose of this post and all of the frustration expressed in it (and its reblogs) is not that *ThErEs NoThinG to dO AnyMoRe*, it’s that there are powerful people destroying our world in myriad ways, for their own profit.

Good rule of thumb...whenever you find yourself defending shitty capitalist behaviors because we can still *survive* within them, take a step back and ask yourself for whose interests you’re really advocating.

P.S. - Local businesses? Like Speedway and Hertz and Subway and CubeSmart? If your town’s main drag even HAS local businesses, you’re speaking from a place of privilege. If these sentiments don’t ring true for you, this ain’t your fight.

This happened last year too when they tweeted about coronavirus disinformation. They also straight up admitted that this is all for the bottom line and wrote an extensive thread about how they go about it called “anti-advertising”.

Is there a Turing test for advertisements because this is an entirely new level of creepiness in regards to personalizing companies. Yeah I get that it’s the goal of advertisement to begin with, but there’s some sort of uncanny valley working here.
