How do you even introduce a legend like Shelley Butler?! From sunny California, we are so honored to have Shelley as a contributor. We now join the ranks of the many incredible zines such as Naked Times, T'hy'la, As I Do Thee, and First Time (and many more!!) which have featured her art over the decades! Shelley also helps run @kiscon and remains involved in the fandom to this day. She is an inspiration to us all, and we owe her so much for the years she's dedicated to this crazy little thing called love k/s <3

✴︎ Most important question: Kirk, Spock, or Bones?

Kirk. I am a definite Kirk girl, but especially through the eyes of Spock.

✴︎ What is your “specialty?”

Drawing, but I love writing when I'm not drawing (which is what I happen to be doing now).

✴︎ What is something you've made that you're particularly proud of and why?

Two of my personal favorite pieces are WINGS and SPOCK'S TATTOO.  Also, the short video that T'Lara made for me: THE ADVENTURES OF KIRK AND SPOCK.  

✴︎ How has it felt to be a contributor in a fanzine?

I am thrilled to be a part of an actual fanzine after so many years! Zines used to be the only place to share in K/S. This is an extraordinary project!

✴︎ What does K/S mean to you?

K/S is so important to me. It is an escape into a most beautiful world of love and passion. It is also a wonderful community that I cherish.

✴︎ Anything else we should know about you?

Returning to fandom after being away for a number of years has been one of the most wonderful things in my life.

✴︎ Where can people find you?

I am on AO3 as SButler. Most of my art and fic works are there, but I participate all the time in Discord (KiScord), and of course, @kiscon. I am always open to communication!

✴︎ What is your “specialty," or favorite thing to write?

I love to write the humor of characters interacting, and I think it's something of a specialty too. Even when I'm trying to write a 'serious' piece, I always do my best to lighten it up with humorous details.

✴︎ What is something you've made that you're particularly proud of and why?

The Unknown Saga, my Alien/Star Trek lovechild. I love everything I've done in this series, and it's very special to me, because when I started writing it, it had been over ten years since I'd last written anything. I kind of thought that was it for me and writing and inspiration, but Star Trek brought it back for me. I just sat down, and started writing like it was the easiest thing in the world. So, so, so happy in this Fandom!

SO AWESOME! I'm really honored to have been invited to contribute, and this project and everyone involved are the absolute best!

I am going to become a cat mama very soon! I just placed my order for all of her cat paraphernalia. She's a stray who appeared at my parent's house out in the sticks. They call her Tansy, but I always wanted to name her Hime (princess) in Japanese. Tansy (rhymes with Pansy) is a kinda catchy name, but she really is just an itty bitty princess!

Spock has to get her captain out of a nasty Tarsus nightmare using a meld!

I’m always a fan of trippy mind meld visuals, so giving spock some ghostly mind hands is super fun! I also hid her face in the last panel because it felt more ethereal to have her be this faceless force of calm.. Kirk is always so full of guilt and wanting to be the perfect responsible captain. I eat it up with a spoon when he cracks under the pressure.

They are so anime here I’m delighted. I’m happy with how fast I’ve gotten at comic pages. This one took me like three hours.
