Mike Logan and the Advent of Kincaid, or, “the coming of Claire”. (1x04, 1x10, 4x01)

In “Kiss the Girls And Make Them Die”, starting with Greevey and Logan’s debate about sex and Mike’s assertion that he’s “hotwired” and gonna live forever… there are (count ‘em) one, two, three, four different brunette bobs floating around him… there are none in the second half of the episode.

And this is before the impressive statue with an even more specific flapper bob that he would “take out for coffee” in the aptly-named “Prisoner of Love”, despite an aversion to all things BDSM.

Not only does Claire eventually wear a biker jacket, the statue has a bruised cheek and bleeding lip — this would later be revealed as about the time she was dealing with the fearful and abusive part of her relationship with the unstable Judge Joel Thayer.

In both episodes they linger over his shoulder… before Claire pops up over his other one in her introduction in “Sweeps”.

So, long before there was any idea to have a female regular or ADA on the show…. I think there was always a plan Logan was going to fall for someone who looked like Claire. He was certainly happy enough to see her when she showed up for real, arguing about indictments or not.

Where they managed to be incredibly quick and incredibly-unsubtle (they’re even dressing like her now, and that tie is one that gets particularly associated with Actual Her). I’ll be checking back in over the next two seasons, folks.

Prince of Darkness, American Dream, & One Interesting Tie

So in Ben’s determinedly-uninspiring wardrobe, this tie is probably at the top of the heap, sartorially and dramatically.

He has it with a blue shirt (always a better look on him than white) when he meets karmic lady and disappeared-by-him witness Sandra Alvaro, and looks her in the face.

He has it with a white shirt (and what is probably not the same suit, but may as well be) the following season when he hears witness Russell Bobbitt has disappeared (turns out, by someone). This is Very Bad News at the time, but also ends up saving him.

And he has it once again with the blue shirt when he’s finally re-ascendant over Phillip Swann… (safety glasses on this time) and can look him in the face when he feels like it… and then have him disappeared.
