i just want to talk about mbti with some rn
How can an enfp be super extroverted and hyper and then be considered the most "introverted" out of all of the extroverted types?
because how tf is being hyper related to being extroverted??
introversion can mean 1 of 2 things in the world of psychology.Â
1. Focuses more on the inside world than the outside world. This is the definition Myers Briggs type theory uses; if your strongest function is introverted, you focus more on the inside world than the outside world and you’re an Introvert
2. You need to be alone in order to “recharge”
ENFPs and ENTPs are “E”’s in because of they do not fit the qualifications of #1, they are the opposite of that. They are considered introverts in some ways because as Ne dominant, they focus on outer information and constantly generate possibilities from everything and process everything in order to take it apart and figure out how it works. Ne is extremely fast moving and expansive and does so many things. Because of this, the only way for many Ne dominants to stop this automatic jumping around, stop being exhausted, is to get away from most things they process, get away from heavy amounts of incoming information. Getting away from lots of stimuli and incoming info includes getting away from people.Â
Ni Anxiety vs Ne Anxiety
Ni: this is what is going to go wrong and then this will happen and then this will happen and then i'll die
Ne: these are all the millions of things that could go wrong what if this happens what if that happens
Who would ever think that so much went on in the soul of a young girl?
Anne Frank (via wordsnquotes)
Entp vs intj
There are a lot of things that intjs get that entps don’t, but when entps get something that intjs don’t they play it off all cool saying things like “is that even important” or “that doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme of things” like wat shut up I just fucked u take it without ur sat vocab words shithead
ENFP / Ravenclaw / Aquarius (Sun and Moon) / Taurus (Rising)
Sometimes I’m super intellectual and other times I like forget to tie my shoe.
Me. (via woollysheepintuition)
Can you do the crush thing for ENFP's? That would be a delight good sir! Oh frick, I went British again. I'm just so damn jealous of their accents! Darn angelic sounding bastards
The combination of Ne-Fi means that there is great diversity in how ENFPs approach life, so it is important to consider individual differences. ENFPs who are more driven by Ne/Te will often appear more outgoing and flirtatious, and confidently seize relationship opportunities. ENFPs who are more driven by Fi/Si may be more fearful of rejection, have lower self-esteem, and be more careful about sending the wrong signals to others for fear of causing harm. But Ne is dominant and ENFPs can usually approach people confidently, even when they feel anxious, because the next moment always holds some promise for overcoming trepidation, which is to say that ENFPs are generally able to get over negativity once they can refocus their attention on brighter possibilities. This underlying optimism can be good because it allows them to be interested in many kinds of people and enjoy the real diversity of human experience (and they generally do not distinguish or categorize relationships as rigidly as other types). They tend to see the best in people and genuinely admire qualities in others that they themselves do not possess. On the other hand, focusing on positive potential means that ENFPs can be prone to idealizing people, which can influence how a crush develops; they can feel conflicted about how to proceed once reality sets in and the grass starts to appear greener elsewhere. Ultimately, ENFPs are looking for a deep and intimate connection, but the willingness to commit can sometimes be elusive.
From the other person’s perspective: ENFPs often appear unpredictable and hard to read because they go wherever the flow of their ideas leads them. Their natural warmth and friendliness towards everyone can make it difficult to tell whether they view you in a special light. Thus, you would need to observe their behavior in relative terms and see whether they treat you any differently than others. But keep in mind that an ENFP who is determined to hide their feelings for whatever reason will probably try their best to not treat you any differently so as to not give themselves away. Compared to how they treat others, mature ENFPs will probably show more intense interest in your life, approach you with a more patient and intimate demeanor, show more physical affection, compliment you with more thoughtful detail, and so on. Less mature ENFPs might seem more skittish, behaving somewhat more awkwardly due to having lower confidence or excess nervous energy (which may result in some mixed messages). They may even try to encircle you by getting to know everyone around you first, with the goal of learning about you through them. If you feel frustrated and uncertain about whether an ENFP likes you, it might be best to ask them directly because, even if they do not feel the same way, they will probably try to let you down as gently as possible.
the mbti types as mythical creatures
esfp: Â satyr. the original party animal. esfps like to wring every drop of enjoyment from their life. they like romance, they like good food and good alcohol. they are thrill seekers, constantly pursuing the next exhilarating experience. they have a knack for inspiring large groups to revelry. capricious, dionysian, tons of fun.Â
isfp:  unicorn. unique- famously unique. isfps are magical, special, and cool, and the whole world knows it. however, like the unicorn, isfps are also bashful, and difficult to get close to. sure, they’re sparkly and miraculous but deep down they’re actually pretty scared of people. lots of people want to hunt unicorns, and lots of people want to befriend or romantically pursue isfps- and often the pressure of being desired will spook them.Â
infp: the loch ness monster. elusive, lonely, and melancholy. floating around in a deep dark, secret place all their own, never revealing themselves entirely, just emerging occasionally through the fog, provoking wonder in those who catch a glimpse.
enfp: phoenix. the enfp experiences their life and emotions as a series of astronomical highs and abysmal lows. when they are in ashes, it can appear, to themselves and others, as if they are beyond resurrection. however, they will always rise, brighter than ever before, in a blaze of vibrant color and creativity.Â
intj:  sphinx. what are they thinking? what’s the answer to the riddle? like the mythical sphinx, intjs are quiet, unflappable, and infinitely wise. like the sphinx, they are intimidating. they are a tough to crack code, and they will never, ever, EVER put all of their cards on the table at once.Â
entj: Â griffin. dignified and regal, the entj seems to have it all together, and to have a plan at hand for any situation. majestic, commanding respect by their mere presence alone. courageous and powerful with a moral compass made of gold.Â
istp: dragon. often fearsome and awe-inspiring, just as often lazy and indulgent. an istp will fiercely pursue their goals, and they will fiercely protect their loved ones, unafraid to perhaps scorch a few peasant villages along the way. they also highly value their material possessions, and have a tendency to assemble collections of items that interest them. the istp is happiest with a full belly, asleep with their tail curled around their hoard.Â
estp: minotaur. often stubborn and temperamental, the estp is one formidable foe in conflict, whether physical or argumentative. they can be a bit…eh, bull-headed, if you will. they guard what they value fiercely, and they are excellent to have on your side in a competitive situationÂ
istj: hobbits. creature comforts are near and dear to the istj. they value coziness above all else, and have a strong nesting instinct. they are nothing without a homey hobbit hole to call their own and share with their dear ones, a place where they can keep a warm fire burning, a hot meal waiting to be prepared, and a shelf full of old books and trinkets with sentimental value.
estj: Â golem. once the estj has decided to do something, they really might as well be made of stone. they have a high respect for authority, and are very in tune with their inner set of values. they will work tirelessly, possibly without sleep or food, like a stone warrior, to do right by whatever cause they have allied themselves with.Â
isfj: fairies. isfjs will remain bright and twinkly even when others in the world seem jaded and dark. they are in tune with nature and with healing. isfjs will do whatever they can to help a friend in need- whether it be a healing potion or a handmade get well card. sweet and magical, creative and crafty.Â
esfj:  mermaid. carefree and social, it’s easy to picture an esfj swirling through the water with a group of undersea friends. esfjs are beautiful in a friendly and playful way that seems fun and inviting. it’s easy to want to be part of their world (lololol) which always seems full of friendship and beauty.Â
infj: shapeshifter. the infj wears as many faces as they care to wear, adapting seamlessly to almost any situation or group. they are so malleable that oftentimes the infj does not even know their own true form. they might, for a time, try on the guise of another type, frequently an infp or isfj, but they will shed that skin easily for another to adapt to change. they are slippery- sometimes to the extent that they deceive without intention. and when they do intend to deceive, there is nothing more sinister than a lying shapeshifter.
enfj: siren. like their cousin the infj, the enfj is not quite what they seem. they are magnetic. they will sing you songs about fame and fortune, about moral goods and the future of the world, and before long you’ve changed your mind about who you’re voting for. alluring. you always want to get closer to the enfj, you always want to dock your ship, get out, and be their friend.Â
intp: centaur. to outsiders, they often seem solemn, weird, and frankly kind of like an asshole. however, beneath their lofty blunt exterior lies a vast universe of wisdom, in touch with invention and the stars. intps are fascinated by invention and innovation. they are often just so entirely bad at small talk that they will always be characterized as aloof.Â
entp: elf. mischievous, approaching everything in life as though it might as well be a joke. the entp could easily be pictured pointy eared, tootling away on a reed flute. they are charmers. sometimes it seems like they are very deep and wise. sometimes it seems like they take nothing seriously enough and are detached from reality.
small things to develop each cognitive function
Fe: Give yourself personal time to be sad or mellow when you feel it. Empathise with somebody you wouldn't normally consider the feelings of. In a conversation, mimic the expressions and gestures of the other individual. Smile when they smile, etc. Think about somebody close enough to you. Think about their current situation (ie. If they've just moved out, if they're going to a party, if they're doing something new) and how they might be feeling given their current life situation, and how this could impact them.
Fi: Sit alone and do nothing to just be with your feelings. Consider whether various aspects/actions made by others in your life match up to what you believe to be 'right' or 'wrong. Figure out what you value (make a list). Figure out what is fundamentally right or wrong to you, personally, regardless of what anyone else believes. When given advice, stop and consider whether this is something you truly agree or disagree with. Consider if you would take this advice on board.
Te: Ensure that you commit to things fully, even if they seem meaningless. Plan a hypothetical trip around the world. Consider how you would manage the costs under a budget, and where exactly you would go- which city in which country for how long. Where would you stay?, etc. Look at situations and consider why they are wrong or right, regardless of the feelings involved.
Ti: Approach everything with an open mind, and question absolutely everything. Consider the truth to what you are told, and consider ways to improve things around you. Seek out an interest of yours and research everything about it. You don't have to do anything with the information gathered, just gather information because it's of interest to you. After this, question why you are interested with this until you have a solid answer. Find something you believe strongly in, or have strong opinions about and defend your argument with logical points for every opposing argument that could be made.
Si: Reflect back on your own past experiences, and consider how much you are still connected to those experiences, and how much you can learn from them. Listen to another person re-tell a memory of theirs and focus on how you could relate to it. Consider. Find an object that is seemingly meaningless, and give it a personal sense of meaning to you. Give it sentiment and analyse how it represents this aspect of your life right now. Think about how you could relate to objects and how you feel about them emotionally.
Se: Listen to an old favourite song of yours, but pay close attention to the details of the song that you hadn't previously heard. (That guitar bit is really cool! I don't remember there being a bass in this, but I love it) Seek out a new (or old, but forgotten) hobby and physically work to understand it and practice it often. When you're enjoying yourself in a moment, stop (not literally) and reflect on the little things happening around you. Use your five senses to capture the moment and experience it as best as you can. Do something with your favourite people that you hadn't pre-planned. Don't consider the consequences. (Keep this cool, though. I'm not condoning murder.) Do that assignment you've been putting off. Hang out that washing.
Ni: Gather copious amounts of information to form one theory or opinion of something you have strong opinions regarding. Think about how you want your future to look. Figure out ways to get exactly that, down to the details of it. When given an object or abstract idea, find the deeper meaning within it.
Ne: Relate two seemingly unrelated subjects to eachother. Find ways that they are similar, such as traits they share. Take a game you normally play and find a new way to give it a twist. Discuss theories, interests, and ideas you have with other people. If they're not well-developed, then even better! Focus on developing them with the other person's input. Discuss your ideas before you have time to pick apart why they would never work, and focus on how they could work.
ENFP Stereotypes
by verdiscurse
I really am tempted to join this “stereotype” boat because, for goodness sake, I can’t even stand looking over some MBTI posts because I know for a fact the ENFP answers are 78% stereotypical and skewed.
Backstory: due to serious in-the-grip action, I thought I was an INFP for years. Then I settled on ENFP, and once again because of grip experiences, I often lapse into wondering if either I’m an ISTJ or an ENTP. But usually, I can pin down my actions to “unhealthy ENFP” and stick amongst the common use of the functions. However, unhealthy ENFP =/= stereotypical ENFP. There are many ways to be an unhealthy ENFP, a healthy ENFP, and how to tell amongst them? Time, time and time again, as well as objectivity. But first, let’s break down the stereotypes, shall we?
ENFPs are magic, ditzy unicorns.
I can’t even tell you how wrong someone is by assuming that Ne immediately translates into ditziness. ENFP is often seen as the magic poster child for ADHD (a pretty ableist conception, too) when in fact, once you give an ENFP a topic they care about, they will develop it so strongly AND pin it all down to one subject masterfully. In fact, I grew up an ENFP in a class full of mostly Sensors, and half of them (and not all of them Se-users, mind you) were diagnosed with ADHD. Meanwhile, I simply refused to concentrate on class when I didn’t give a shit about it (Fi) but when I did care about the subject, I went on huge rolls in class about imperialism, or geography, or Greek myths, or anything that could be tied down to the class. Thus my on and off “teacher’s pet” relationship with the teachers. Either I was their worst nightmare or their most trusted ally. It’s all a matter of engaging Fi correctly, and your ENFP will be one of the most valuable assets on your team.
As for the “magical” part, I’d like you to introduce you to a personal friend of mine - unhealthy Fi! Do you think unhealthy Fi manifests in pure pureness of cinnamon rolls? No! It comes out to light as emotional suppression, or selfishness, or jerkass behavior that you really can’t tie to logical or outward emotion - no, it’s a way to deal with how we’re breaking inside. If you find a healthy Fi user, good for you! Lucky them who somehow kept believing in morality. There is such thing as unhealthy Fi and it’s a very common problem. So consider this every time you try to type a cute character as an ENFP.
ENFPs wear their hearts on their sleeve.
One name: Nathan Young. He is often mistyped an ENTP for his apparent “lack of heart”. Because “all he is” is immortal sarcasm in an orange jumpsuit. The truth is, sarcasm is more often than not the perfect cover for unwillingness to deal with feelings, and we all know the last thing Nathan likes to deal with is his own feelings. As is often the case of unhealthy Fi users. Feelings? Pfft! Nah, I’m an annoying cunt! Let’s be immature and mess around with everyone just for entertainment (does this sound like a Fe-user to you, even a tertiary Fe?) Never underestimate how unhealthy Fi, mixed with hyped up and twisted Te, will define character. Sometimes what you think is an ENTP with a temper is just a very clever ENFP pretending they have no feelings. But they do. Oh how they do.
ENFPs cannot do commitment and are lazy
Once again I will refer to a character: Jake Peralta. Seems like the typical ENFP, right? Jokester, class clown, unorthodox, weird…unicorn, right? Well, it is very well defined in Season 2 that Jake is not as simple as he looks outside - he is an outright workaholic. He can’t even take a single day off when he’s injured badly. So he looks lazy and go-with-the-flow, but he will never let a case go unsolved, he will never stop until he finds the murderer, he will never give up on his friends and family when they need him.
Just as the stereotypes emphasize healthy Fi, they forget to mention unhealthy Te. That love for developing a project in a hundred different aspects I mentioned earlier? You will never find an ENFP who literally goes “Eh, who gives a shit” about a project they poured their heart into and didn’t come out as expected. Never. They will rant and rave about every detail, how this should have been better, how they should have put more time into this, that they should have thought twice about that…the list goes on and on. They will plan out everything about a project they care about and follow through if they’re mature enough.
ENFPs have chill
Is there a single chill Fi-user? Like, really really chill Fi users? I have yet to find one. Give me a Fi user and I will show you someone who is willing to murder, about a certain subject or person in their lives. Sometimes an ENFP might not immediately jump into defending something they care about because they know by experience that it’s not the wisest choice most times. But if it were up to them, they would defend to their dying breath the values or people they care about. ENFPs either have no chill or say they do BUT ARE LYING. I mean, this is so what I have garnered so far. Please tell me if I’m going overboard, but what I know about Fi is that a little thing like an outer opinion about the important things in life will not matter. True, like everyone, ENFPs crave approval and outer appreciation, but it’s rare that they’ll completely trash what they care about only because of outer opinion. If they do, it’s usually coupled with unhealthy perfectionism (“They were right, I never pay attention to sforzandos. Maybe I’ll never be able to do this right.”) But, little tip for anyone who is like me: it is true - a little opinion does not matter. The only thing that matters is putting Fi and Te on a seesaw and achieving balance. I could have done this better, but because I know obsessing about mistakes is painful and wrong, I will set out to fix this in the future. And everything will be better.
ENFPs are social butterflies/flirtatious
I really don’t know where this stereotype came from, because last time I checked, a Fi-user (even a Ne-user) isn’t a natural addict of social interaction. I have heard that ENFPs are the most introverted of the extroverts, and I think I’ll stand by this. Usually most social interactions don’t sit well with me unless they’re about a subject I care about. “You want to go to a thing on Saturday?” “No.” “It’s a Star Wars con.” “Sign me up.” Or else. “We need people to come to this seminar at 3:00.” “I have to study, sorry.” “But it’s about biotechnology.” “What kind?” I mean, that might just be me. After all, I had a hell of a time on my prom, though by 2:00 a.m I was already missing home. Thoughts, ENFPs? This is more a personal thing, but I reiterate: it’s a stereotype.
As for flirtatious, call me a redneck if I say that I’m not boy crazy. I also have a bad habit of letting myself flirt around guys I like even when I don’t plan for it. But I will leave this space blank for anyone to reply. It took me until tenth grade to feel anything romantic but that might have to do with a past experience. I’m pretty sure you will meet plenty of ENFPs who don’t even even feel sexual or romantic attraction.
Destroy all ENFP stereotypes. Please stop calling me a keet, a precious cinnamon roll, or comparing me to Pinkie Pie, or assuming ENFPs are hopeless optimists. If an ENFP fits this description, good for them! But when you see ENFPs in posts that classify them by types of intelligence only in the “interpersonal intelligence” section (ONLY THAT ONE OUT OF ALL OF THE NINE), you know something’s wrong.
