I’m very sorry that things have been so tough for you lately but I’m very hype that the series will keep going
Hey buddy! Good to see you again.
Well, thank you. But, I mean, maybe taking a very long break will turn out to be a really good thing. We have a few ideas about how we'll go about writing the rest of it, and they all sound really fun, so hopefully ENI will actually turn out better than it was going to be before!
Okay, hi. Here is the official decision on wtf is going to happen with ENI.
So, Fin and I had some discussions about this whole thing once I made that post. We are both in agreement that this story NEEDS to have some kind of completion. So we came up with a plan. I'm not going to go into specifics, only because it would be long and doesn't matter too much. BUT, we decided to just go ahead with completing the story! We're just going to go through it in a slightly different way.
This might mean that seasons take longer to complete. We're both pretty busy (especially right now, it is the busy season for both of us), but at least the project isn't just dead. But, it is highly likely that there will be less episodes per season. I'm not going to worry about episode counts at this point, just to take more things off my plate, so I can focus on finishing it rather than tiny details like that. I'm just going to let the ideas flow, and if we hit the normal episode limit, then we do, if not, oh well.
Oh, another thing I should add here. Fin thinks that staying close to the tone of the previous seasons won't be as difficult as I thought. Apparently we can fix a lot of that in editing, so I was worrying about something I really shouldn't have. Typical lol
ANYWAY, we gotta wait until our days off to work a lot of this out, but I will keep you all posted on any scheduling going on so we don't just spring things on you all. I know there's about 10 people who are still interested in the story, so I will try to schedule reblogs for this post and any updates from here on. Just so people can actually see them.

If you have no idea what the hell this is, you need to go read the ask post. It's the one right before this one, so not hard to find.
Right, so I think I'll break this down to make it easier for myself.
1. I have changed
This might not seem like a big deal, but I think it could be a big factor in working on this anymore. To be entirely honest, I'm kind of an asshole now with a very stark view on things. I also have way less of a filter. I think that it's kinda mean to just unleash now me on everyone, especially all of the people who were used to communicating with me before. None of y'all did anything, so that just seems unnecessary.
2. The whole Batman thing
I already said most of this in the short version, so I'll just continue off of that. I have nothing to bring me back into comics, let alone Batman specifically. I don't think going back to the older stuff would help either. To be fair, I've always preferred the older stuff anyway, but I think that it's still too fresh in my mind. I think my brain would get bored, rather than inspired. With the absolute lack of any new content to draw me back in, I think that I'd be stuck just with my own story. Which, again, is kind of the big problem. That wasn't the point of the story. That's not what all of this is about, so why even bother?
3. I do want to do something with this whole thing.
This whole project has been a huge torn in my side ever since I stopped working on it. It really does drive me nuts. Normally, I can just drop something and move on. I do it all the time. I'm an artist, we are famous for not completing things. But this project has always bothered me. I think that it's because so much of it was created for the exact purpose of being shared and for the fans. It's something that we spent a lot of time on, and I do think that there's stuff in it that fans will at least find interesting. It's gotta get out there, somehow. Maybe it will inspire someone else to do a project. Maybe it will just spark a conversation between a couple of fans. Who knows, but it needs to be out there.
I think that's the biggest part of this long version. I feel like I have this thing that needs to be shared, but I don't know how to do it. But also, I don't really want to share something that isn't what it's supposed to be. A weird, twisted version of it, all because I'm bored and want to make it interesting for myself. But, who knows, that might end up being way better than what I had originally intended. I also might be way more willing to take risks than I was before.
But, at the same time, the original version was pretty carefully crafted to be VERY comic booky. I really wanted it to feel like you were reading a comic. Even if it wasn't really what I wanted, or even if it was kinda dumb, that stuff existed because that's how comics are. They can just be really silly. It's what makes them fun.
So I just don't know. This is why I keep flip-flopping on this decision.
4. Another thing I should add in here: don't expect any art. I don't draw anymore. So whatever happens is going to happen without artwork.
5. Options:
Continuing
I feel like I've rambled enough about why I think this would potentially be a bad idea, so I won't ramble about that anymore. I will say that if I do continue, I am definitely going to cut this down and make it much shorter. That doesn't really affect you all that much. It's not like we told you how long it was supposed to be. But there are a few seasons in there that I think I will just chuck out entirely so I can get to the point faster. I might even not do entire seasons, so then I can add the interesting stuff from those cut seasons into just episodes.
Bulk posts
There's just a lot of explaining to do with this one. Here's the thing, Season 3 is basically written. I think I have 3 or 4 episodes left to write in it, but it's mostly done. The issue with that is that I started to lose inspiration at a certain point and I have big shoes to fill there. I will have to come up with a lot of things to keep the flow of that season going, and to tie everything up by the end. So picking up where I left off is going to be a big hurdle, and I have no idea what is going to come out of it. But if I do the bulk posts, then I can just post the finish episodes, then fill in explanation of what was supposed to happen rather than having to actually write it. See? That's kinda what I'm getting at here.
There's future episodes I wrote too, and I know there's episodes that I do want to write, only because they'd be really fun. So it'd be this mix of explanation and episodes.
I would probably have to post this stuff on AO3 though. They'd be VERY bulky. But then you'd get what was supposed to happen. All of it. It just wouldn't be written written. I hope that makes sense. I am bad at explaining things today.
I don't think this is everything, and I'm pretty sure this is just all over the place and doesn't make sense, but whatever. I'm gonna post it so it doesn't just sit in my drafts for eternity
Hey is this project dead? I really loved it and I hope not.
Hi! It has been a really long time.
I have gotten quite a few of these asks and written up long responses, but then backed out of saying anything official, because I wasn't 100% sure about anything. It's been long enough at this point, so I might as well just throw it out there for everyone else to discuss.
I'll give a long version and a short version. If you're going to throw your two cents in, I suggest reading both, because it is dumbly long.
Short version: A ton has happened over the past 5 years. To be honest, I am a much different person than I was before. I'm not that nice, happy nerd anymore. I'll explain more about that in the long version, but just so you're aware that it is a factor here.
On top of that, I pretty much lost all interest in comics, because modern day comics do not hold my interest. It's not just that though. It's pretty much all of the comic content: games, movies, everything. If there isn't any reason to stick around, then I'm not going to. This is normal for me. I move in and out of my long list of interests very often. I'm big into horror and prop making now.
Anyway, my point is that I don't even know if I could write Edward anymore. Maybe I could, but I don't know. I think my perception of this story would be different than what I had intended. I have a feeling I'd start writing what I wanted to write, and that wasn't the point of this story. It was for comic fans who like the Riddler. It was about exploring a cool part of his backstory that didn't get enough consideration by the original writers. If I'm not writing it for the fans, as a fan, then what is the point?
SO! I have a couple of ideas. I guess I could try to explore getting back into it and see what happens. Since it's my story, I could make things shorter or longer if I wanted to. I can basically do whatever the fuck I want to. So that's an option.
The other option is that I only write the parts of the story that I actually want to, and then I just make posts explaining everything that we were going to do with ENI. Almost all of it is already planned out, so I could just make giant posts and explain it all.
I guess it's up to you all. You were the only reason any of this started in the first place. I think it's fitting that you all get to decide.
I think I'm going to make the long version in another post. It is incredibly long. Again though, I do suggest reading both if you're going to toss in your opinion. You might not be getting what you think you're getting. But if you're someone who was just curious about the explanation, then this should be good enough.

+Riddler: View from the Abandoned Puzzle Factory – This started out as me just wanting to doodle something atmospheric and ended up as a crash course in improving how I paint cities. Also neon sign animation effects :) I wanted the piece (and Riddler) to have that “challenging mental adversary” vibe. Painted in Manga Studio EX5, animated in OpenToonz.
Alrighty y’all, crisis averted! Everything is back on track and a ton of the stuff that was slowing progress down is no more! Thank you to everyone who answered the last post! I know I didn’t respond, but things started to turn around, BUT it was still all up in the air. I didn’t mean to keep you all in limbo like that, but it wasn’t really set in stone so I didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up.
But, tada, we’re back on track! Thank you for y’all’s continued support! We really appreciate it!
I know you said you wasn’t going to do shipping for the fic, but if you could ship anyone with Eddie who would it be?
No, but seriously, I'm not a shipper. Also, no matter how much I like Ed as a character, he is a selfish and abusive person. If anyone had any kind of romantic feelings for Ed, he'd just end up constantly hurting them and he wouldn't give two shits about it. I wouldn't want anyone to have to be subjected to his constant self-serving bs.
Hey, I’m a big fan of your blog and art! I was wondering if you were thinking of giving Edward a love interest? Some people think that wouldn’t really work for him because of who he is, then I remembered Debbie having an interest in him and it got me wondering. Can’t wait for the next season!
Hi! That's fantastic to hear! I'm very honored that you like the story and my art! Now onto your question! Also, this is me, so get ready for this answer to be longer than it needs to be.
My major objective from the beginning of this project was to make this story for ALL of the fans of the comics, and I guess the Riddler as a character. I didn't want to only focus on one specific group of those fans, so I've stayed very far away from any controversial topics or interpretations that have some conflict within the fanbase. So, I made a very strict rule right away that there wasn't going to be any love interest in the story for Edward. Simply put, the short answer is: no, never going to happen.
I have some weird rules about this when it comes to other characters as well? I stuck with relationships that are canon and consistent in the comic books. I decided that it'd be too much of a mess to try to avoid those relationships, so this "no love interest" rule only applies to Ed. In other words, it's safe to think that Dick and Barbara have dated, same with Bruce and Selina etc. As long as those characters have had a LONG history together in the comics, it's safe to just assume the story follows that as well.
[Video version with sound] This was an old animation project from 2017– Edward being suspicious. I decided to finally finish it as a warmup. Only the character animation had been completed back then, but the style was outdated, so after updating the frames, the rest was pretty straight forward. I was also quite pleased that after tweaking the OpenToonz ‘bubble’ particle effect I managed something reminiscent of floating dust specks :)
Animated in OpenToonz, background painted in Manga Studio EX5.
Hello! It’s that time again, get ready for the Season 3 content to start creeping in! And to start things off, here is the character update for Edward! AND for once, he doesn’t look like he just wants to go to sleep. That lil confidence boost he got in Season 2 really made a change.
