After Auri (and her bodyguard, Felix) gets attacked by the assassin hired by Ever Corp to suppress her research, Grey finally realizes he’s going to lose everything (including her, literally) if he doesn’t say something nOW. So in an act of desperation, he apologizes for everything- the way he ended their relationship 10 years ago in college, the way he’s been fighting falling back into the familiar ways with her, and for making his confession seem like a haphazard word vomit born of a fear he might never get to tell her, instead of something that was rationally thought out like he’d been wanting to, but feeling wholly undeserving of.
For her part, Auri had been patiently waiting for him to break under the weight of his own want, so her acceptance was swift, but oh so soft, and poor Grey had to beg her to tell him to stop, lest their first time together in 10 years be on his desk at the hospital instead of somewhere more appropriate- somewhere she deserved, like the privacy of his place.
Ockissweek really was out there with prompts like “desperate”, how on earth was I supposed to not do a 🌶️ piece for it?
Honestly it’s been a looong while since I’ve worked on 🌶️ art so this was just genuinely fun to stretch my ‘wings’ on. I kind of wish I’d had more than a day to spend on it but oh well 😅 that’s the fun part of these challenges!
Cowboy Grey still remembers what constitutes as ‘formal enough’ after his time studying in Waterdeep. A pressed shirt, a nice vest, a bowed tie, cleaned boots. Throw in a couple choice pieces of silver and you’ve got yourself a cleaned up cowboy.
He prefers his trail clothes though, if he’s being honest.
I’m so desperately behind on my planned drawtober pieces, but what can I say, cowboy has taken over my freaking brain 🤷🏻♂️
So please, accept this redux of day 3’s prompt “work clothes” and enjoy seeing babey Grey in all his Faerûnian work attire.
Will was a much more laid back teacher when it came to Grey’s training, favoring results over any kind of rigid school work. To him, Grey needed to know the common ailments he’d be treating, not memorizing 300 different uses for milkweed that are only seen north of Luskan. It was far more field medicine than any kind of true medical work, but in the end his trainings are still what Grey lean on more often on his travels.
Darnic in the other hand was a very meticulous Dragonborn, requiring thorough research, hours of dedicated study, and intense testing sessions. With him Grey learned what was called “practical medicine”- a type of healing that did not rely on his magics or racial traits. When his apprenticeship ended, he realized it was all the honing of his keen intellect and Darnic’s drive to push him to pursue answers outside his normal pathways that helped to push him to become a better healer.
These days, Grey is more traveling field medic than anything, often splitting his attentions between mechanical crafting and medicine, but he doesn’t charge for his services and he’ll never turn down someone in need.
The real reason I won’t take commissions is bc I will literally kms if I have to keep drawing 25 y/o conventionally (western) attractive characters.
Give me facial folds/wrinkles
Give me unique and big/hooked/upturned/broken noses
Give me eye bags and dark circles
Give me moles and gnarled scars and visible injuries that healed wrong and body hair and-
I want to draw people that are alive and shaped by that life. I love Auri’s nose with its dorsal hump and bulbous tip that she inherited from her mother, further accentuated with a piercing. Or the tired expression she often has bc anxiety and depression are a lot to exist with. I love Grey’s eye bags and brow lines he earned through 8 years of medical school and an insane workload at Akso, and the smile lines he proudly wears- well earned through years of laughter and silly shenanigans.
The human face is such an unendingly fascinating thing. It’s a shame media teaches us that only a handful of configurations are beautiful.
And off over to your left you’ll hear Seamus yelling “oh just kiss already for fuck’s sake!” While poor Felix just sighs. They’re so done with these two and their flirting 😅
Based off the moments post where (iirc) Zayne and MC discuss going to a cafe that custom makes you a soup based on a personality quiz you fill out.
Well, it only took me nine hundred million years and there is a lot I wish I could spend more time on, but honestly I’m just happy I’ve managed to finish anything. It’s literally been since the Starcatcher piece in sept since I’ve managed to complete a piece this big, and let me tell you that is a motivation killer 😣 I had a lot of high pain days while working on this so I had to do it in small increments, but overall it was nice to just have fun with a drawing again. I love these two idiots so much 🥺
And once again, I adore that LnDS has such beautiful backgrounds that you can just draw right on top of and make it really feel like your OCs are living right in their universe.
I got a little side tracked with some other projects and kinda fell off for a minute, but we are back at it with day (cough) six! Grey has always had a rather flamboyant sense of fashion, but he really takes it up a notch after landing his work at Akso (which means lots of disposable income for questionable [lovable] fashion). All the hospital gala/fundraisers are just an incredibly convenient excuse to wear it all.
Also a new sig logo! I’m still fiddling with a few different designs, so you may see a couple cycle through here for a bit.
‘These are my blorbos and I would kill someone if they hurt them”
*proceeds to hurt them with my own two hands* 🥴😩😭
I started a series recently for my and my bestie’s LnDS ocs called “Lowest”, exploring all the absolute worst moments in their lives.
Med school had some rough moments for Grey, particularly when Auri’s father (a well known neurosurgeon) called him a “well behaved junkyard dog practicing medicine”, and then proceeded to tell him that even well behaved dogs can’t out-act their breeding. The poor man has a small ~mental breakdown~ over it, eventually taking it out on Auri herself and ending their 3 year relationship over it despite her best efforts to support him through it. “Junkyard dog” became a sort of ‘spite mantra’ for him during the hardest parts of med school after that, pushing him to unhealthy places (mentally) until his dad finally has a come-to-Jesus moment with him (out of love❤️)
Auri finds herself on Ever’s hit list after her research into a particular Lemurian ruin ends with her entire expedition team dead or missing, and her on the run for months. Finally and the end of her rope and out of options she reaches out to Greyson (her ex from college she hadn’t seen in 10 years) for a place to safely land for a night while she plans her next move, and has a complete and total mental snap in his bathroom when they think a raincoat has found his apartment, assuming this was the moment she was going to die. (Archie played the part of emotional support cat perfectly.) Thankfully it was her first bodyguard, Felix reporting in, instead.
Being a Lemurian is hard enough in Linkon, but it’s even harder when you don’t know enough about yourself to identify fact from fiction. Sweet Lark, like many of her kind, gets taken when she’s young, kept for months in a tiny room, and used for her blood to prolong the life of a terrible man who threatens to force her bond to him. Not knowing the truth about how that all works she panics and kills him, accidentally trapping herself in the process and is forced to wait an agonizing several days with the body before a rescuer shows up.
Ahh yes, a tale as old as time: When an autistic anthropologist falls in love with a dork of a neurosurgeon 🥹 Truly a match made in heaven 💜
Auri could literally listen to Grey talk about the brain forever. It’s the way he’s so expressive with his hands when he gets excited, or how halfway through an explanation he’ll forget you have no idea what a Phox2b is and has to start over and re explain respiratory rhythmogenesis, laughing at himself as he does it. But most of all, it’s the way his eyes light up when he hits a topic that’s been chewing at him- something that’s really been on his mind. It’s that spark that really hits Auri in the ol’ Heart eyes 😍
