Enrique was called Enrique until his first transition happened. Until that first full moon which he howled his pain through. The first full moon which he had committed murder. Now, he is only called Lobo.
His mother cried for their loss of Miguel, the eldest sibling in the family. Out of all three of them, Miguel and Enrique and Luna, their mother had actually taken care of Miguel the most. So, her tears were expected. Their father, on the other hand, did not cry. Instead, like all men who didn’t know how to control their rage and prayed on the weak instead of dealing with their own issues, beat Enrique until the poor boy could barley stand at times.
And Enrique, having no other choice, because the other choice required him to leave his sister behind, took the beatings.
The following years were hard for Enrique. The beatings, the feeling of constantly being rejected no matter what, the lies his parents told to each other, and being reminded of the blood on his hands. Accidents happen on full moons-on a werewolves first full moons especially-so Enrique was never charged for anything from the pack his parents were in. But, he knew that if his parents saw him a certain way-with disgust-there were bound to be others in the pack who would seem him as such also.
But none of that mattered-at times. None of it mattered because he had his sister, Luna. The only person he’d live for. With his sister being four/five years younger than him, he always made sure to look after her and teach her the right ways of dealing with anger, emotions, and the way of being a wolf.
Meanwhile, there were those few who helped Enrique along the way as he got older-but very few; Lobo could count those who had helped him on only one hand. But that had been enough.
His father died when Lobo was 21; but Lobo didn’t cry. There was no reason to. Mr. Vasquez had purposely gone into vampire territory looking for a fight. And he got one-to the very end. Their mother, also did not cry. Because the “man of the house” had also failed his duties as a husband in and out of the bed. Instead, Lobo’s mother had found her end at the end of a bottle of alcohol and pills. Thankfully, Lobo had found her before his sister and did what needed to be done.
Without their parents, Lobo and his sister were much better off. Lobo was able to relax and be more involved with the pack knowing that if he played his part right, he could provide help to others; help that wasn’t given to him when he needed it. But the man also wanted protection for his sister incase anything were to happen to him. Though, deep down, all Lobo wanted was a place to belong.
