I love Hinny but sincerely i don't care that much about Ginny, i don't think she is bad i just don't care much about her character or even for my taste , is one of those characters which i think is alright and great love interest for Harry but that's all i care about her because individually i don't care. .

Is that wrong?

No, that's fine. You can't force yourself to like a character f you don't want to.

Ginny is a hard character to nail down. I think Ginny, perhaps more than any other character, including Snape and Draco, really suffers from the limited character perspective we get from seeing everything through Harry's eyes. We are first introduced to Ginny as a shy, clearly love-struck pre-teen. Then she kind of disappears for a few years. Which doesn't really bother me because I think it helps that she grows up a bit "off page". And when we finally see more of her in Year 5, we find out for the first time that she can play Quidditch. And she's bold, and brave, and apparently boys are interested in her. Ironically enough, I think some of the best "Harry/Ginny" moments are actually in Book 5. The conversation in the library when she tells Harry that if he needs to talk Sirius...then find a way to talk to Sirius is, imo, a great example of why Ginny would be a good fit for Harry.

But then we have Book 6, when Harry discovers his crush on Ginny and to a certain extent, it colors a lot of his perception of her. One of the things that kind of annoys me personally is that Harry and Ginny's relationship is very "tell don't show". We hear about how Ginny is so funny, but there's only a couple of lines that actually prove that. I get that Harry Potter isn't really a romance and Rowling probably just didn't want to spend a lot of time building the relationship so gives us the shortened verison via Harry's thoughts on her but it also makes the reader less invested in them as well imo. (And I actually like Harry and Ginny together so this isn't me bashing them and they are my favourite couple but I do think it would have helped to see the relationship build more organically than we what ultimately got).

All this to say, I think her flaws get overlooked a lot because by the time Harry really starts to pay attention to her, he's seeing her through rose colored glasses in a way that I don't think we really see him do with anyone else. I don't think she was intended to be viewed as "perfect" but I do agree that her flaws aren't nearly as well defined as Hermione's, Ron's or Harry's.

Do you agree with my opinion about her ?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Harry doesn't get to spend enough time with Ginny and therefore some people don't feel as emotionally invested as they would if he had ended up with Hermione, for example. But I'm so glad that Rowling didn't go that route. I am so tired of seeing best friends end up together in the media. As if that's the only relationship possible between them.

A lot of the information about Harry and Ginny's relationship we have to fill in the blanks ourselves. I wish we could've had more moments of them when they were actually in a relationship. Like them going on an awkward date and then slowly seeing how they got comfortable with each other and why they make such a good couple. Even one chapter about that would've been fine.

However, I don't really agree with Harry wearing rose-colored glasses when it comes to Ginny. Yes, he obviously has a crush on her and therefor will notice the more positive sides, but I still think we see Ginny's more devious side. Like when she defended Harry and argued with Hermione about the diary. While Harry sees the positive side, Ginny is actually pretty harsh in that moment. Or when she thinks that Dean is trying to help her through the portrait hole. I don't think Harry ignores those. They're not exactly flaws, but they're not really sweet moments. He just likes that side of hers too.

I heard someone on twitter saying " Ginny fell first but Harry fell harder " which i think is nonsense and overshadows Ginny's feelings and love for Harry and says why :

1- Ginny herself said she never gave up on Harry and always had hope and just started to go out and see other people thanks to Hermione's advice and start to be herself around Harry .

2- The books are from Harry pov of course we know more about his feelings and thoughts about other people , his views and opinions etc . If the books were from Ginny pov or JK wrote her pov we would know the details about her feelings for Harry .

3 - The love and dreams and the thoughts Harry had about Ginny specially in book 6 and 7, Ginny most likely had the same thing for him specially dreams of being with Harry intimate and missing him when he was out with Ron and Hermione during the horcrux haunt .

Many say she's perfect for Harry ( which is true) but people forget how perfect Harry is for Ginny and how much she loves him and that is a really underrated thing for even Hinny shippers talking about Ginny feelings for Harry and how much she loves him and he is her soulmate and her best source of happiness and hang out.

I feel like sometimes people like to downplay her feeling and say that she only liked him because he was the Boy Who Lived or they say that he fell harder, which isn't inherently negative, but doesn't mean it's true.

You're right, the books are from Harry's POV, so we get his perspective. We don't get to see Ginny's. How she observed him and got to know him even when he wasn't really noticing her. How she tried to get his attention in the first few books, but was left embarrassed by the experiences. She's obviously liked him for years and I'm sure she felt all kinds of positive and negative emotions when it comes to Harry. Just seeing him with Cho must've been a big one, even if she tried to move on and date other boys. Her feelings were clearly intense if she wasn't able to leave her feelings for him behind her.

I would've loved to get her perspective too. What was it about him that drew her so much to him? That he was humble despite his fame? That he was kindhearted even though he was abused by his aunt and uncle? That he was brave? Was it a combination of all that?

Ginny has been one of my favorite characters for years and I love how she came out of her shell around Harry and let him really get to know her. Just the way they interact with each other is proof that they're soulmates. That they were meant to be with each other in the end.

I will never understand how Ginny gets more hate than Snape. He was obsessed with Lily even after she died. His Patronus was the same as hers, if the roles were reversed and that was Ginny people would call her a stalker and a creep. Don’t even get me started on how he bullies children and makes them feel stupid and small, because apparently that’s okay because he did it all for love. But if my girl bat bogey hex’s someone for saying things about someone she cares or loves, well she’s labeled as abusive bully. The misogyny is unreal.

Ginny is so respectful about her crush on Harry the whole time. Yes, she sends him a valentine's day message but she's really shy about it. She never expects anything from Harry and most importantly, she has integrity.

When Harry asks her to the Yule Ball, she already has a (platonic) date to the ball and she doesn't go back on her promise and doesn't drop Neville in favour of Harry. That girl would kill to be able to go withhim but she stays with Neville, because he's her friend and they already had agreed to go together.

She always respects that he's not interested in her. She doesn't seek him out or asks for his attention specifcally, and when she's younger gets really shy around him. When she's older and gets more secure around him, she is still just keeping it merely platonic and talks to him as a friend without expecting more.

She dates other guys and gives it a genuine try because she knows Harry is not an option, until he is. Snape could never. He was bitter about Lily and never moved on from her or even tried to do so.

A lot of the generally good characters are ready to throw hands at all times. Yet Ginny gets called out for it. She stands up for what's right and defends those who need help. We see that in her restarting and coleading the DA. She can and will help and if you get on her bad side, she'll deal with you. That doesn't make her abusive and most of the other characters are aplauded for behaviour that is suddenly wrong on her.
