How it works
Brackets
The winner is decided using a bracket system which looks like this
There are a total of 5 brackets, 4 of which have 32 total mashups competing together, the fifth has only 6 (because the math doesn't work)
Rounds each bracket has 16 rounds, rounds look like this:
Two mashups are put into a poll, and whichever one gets the most votes, advances to the next section Mashups are paired based on a seed system
Seeds
Seeds determine how "good" each competitor is. The lower the seed, the more likely it is to advance to the next round, the numbers range from 1 to 32 (or 1 to 6 in the case of the 5th bracket). I determined seeds by calculating the combined number of Spotify streams of every song in the mashup (I used Taylor's version for songs in the 4 albums that were rerecorded). The rounds are set up so seed 32 competes with 1, 31 competes with 2, so on and so fourth. An "upset" is when a song with a higher seed, beats one with a lower seed.
If your curious, the highest number of streams is Espresso / Is It Over Now? / Please Please Please (with Sabrina Carpenter) with a total of over 4 billion streams. The lowest is Sweeter than Fiction / Holy Ground with only 124 million combined
