one of my favorite themes to highlight in changeling the lost is community . i love the hope that can come from these trauma survivors who are in so many ways still always in danger banding together to look out for each other and get through it ouugghh
"senseless tragedy" they do tend to be, yeah
99% of sufferers quit before they find the meaning that rationalises all the pain they've endured. KEEP DIGGING DEEPER INTO THE WOUND UNTIL IT YIELDS.
I was possessed
niche thing i enjoy thinking about is nonbinary and genderqueer characters who speak more than one language using differently gendered pronouns in different languages
one thing i really enjoy is the fetch-changeling dynamic in changeling the lost in the sense of like... yeah ctl is in general pretty clearly a trauma survivor allegory but also i think it's very fun to interpret the fetch in particular being an allegory for the "normal" day to day self that often is created as a result of some degree of dissociation that's commonly found with trauma vs the changeling being the traumatized/reactive self that's been shut out from "normal" life
like the "normal" self (the fetch) seeing the traumatized self (the changeling) as invading on a life that is Theirs and as a hindrance to living their normal life unaffected by that trauma. they didnt ask for any of this they just want to exist. and the traumatized self (the changeling) seeing the "normal" self (the fetch) as just an incomplete shell, something lacking, living out what they see as rightfully Their life. both are like, pretty common emotions ive seen ppl express towards parts of themselves and also personally experienced so its pretty cool to be able to draw parallels
ive been sick so instead of being productive i spent my day cobbling together a ref for my beautiful girl
