Isaac gave Erica a condescending smile as he followed after her, his hand tugging at his scarf as he felt the immediate breath of heat slap his skin.

“Better to melt than to freeze.” He muttered under his breath.

Muttered as they were, Erica picked up on the words easily and she instantly felt a sharp pang to her chest. Damn Isaac’s father and what he had done to the sweet soul. It wasn’t right, and if the man was still alive, Erica didn’t doubt for one second she’d be seeking out vengeance for Isaac’s crushed spirits. 

“Hm.”

“Good. That’s good Erica. You’re healing.”  He told her as he wiped her  hair out of her eyes and held her. No one was around to  see him being kinder to Erica than the others.

“It still hurts.” She panted, her voice as exhausted as her body, even when it went more  limb with relief. Her dark eyes settled on Derek at the gentleness, but the  she-wolf didn’t have it in  her to smile, so she merely  leaned into the welcomed  touch.
