you don't understand how straight up terrifying albert is
even before william and louis came to his life, he's already had thoughts about murdering his family
the line "what would you do if you were me? if you had an evil person in front of you?" would you be able to kill for the sake of an ideal?" led me to believe that he had been thinking of killing his family off for years now
he just didn't have the courage to pull it off
until he saw william and heard of his ideals, about how he wants to change the world by ridding of the corrupt nobles
albert willingly offered his riches, his influence, and his life
and he did so without hesitations
mans did it in a heartbeat (and happily so) to attain his ideal world
this was not animated but in the manga, he didn't strike his little brother but he went on to pin his mother against the wall and suffocate her
you can tell he's been wanting to do this for so long; he just needed that one extra push
AND NOW ADULT!ALBERT HAS THAT INTOXICATED AND MURDEROUS GLINT BEHIND HIS EYES LIKE MF REALLY ENJOYS KILLING NOBLES LIKE A FUCKING PAST TIME HE'S BLOODY TERRIFYING
with william, he actually feels guilty about the dirty deeds he's done he knows killing is wrong but at the same time, he also cannot bear to see a world where people from the lower class suffer because of the nobles he's actually torn from the inside by his ideals and the way that he's trying to achieve them
PLEASE HE NEEDS A BREAK, A HUG, AND A DECENT SLEEP OH GOD I JUST WANT HIM IN MY ARMS HE'S SO PRECIOUS
louis on the other hand comes second when we're talking about who among the moriartys are terrifying
this was ALSO NOT ANIMATED BUT!!!!! i'd like to point out that during this scene in the hunting of the baskervilles, act 2, louis openly admitted that after burning the moriarty estate, he felt nothing THE LITTLE TERRIFYING SHIT THAT HE IS (affectionate)
THAT EMOTIONLESS LOOK ON HIS FACE?! THE NONCHALANT ATTITUDE HE DISPLAYS WHILE A BURNING, BLEEDING MAN IS SCREAMING FOR HIS LIFE IN THE BACKGROUND?!?!! HELLO?!
this bitch will not feel anything for you i'm sorry to say this but if you're a corrupt noble, you'll be done with in thirty seconds make it ten actually
This was only supposed to focus on Albert but the more that I type, the more words come into my mind and I need to type what I think and put them into words because I CAN'T FUCKING DEAL WITH THIS ALONE ✋🏻😭
The single weirdest take on YuuMori Sherlock I keep seeing in the fandom is that…William was somehow right about Sherlock? That Sherlock is a shining light in the darkness with a pure heart and soul and, like, morals? Who is disappointed in people doing bad things?
Please, Sherlock has the moral compass of a slug.
Sherlock “I just wanna be besties with the Lord of Crime and maybe make out a lil” Holmes
Sherlock “Dammit I should’ve killed someone in cold blood if it meant I would get more mysteries from the Lord of Crime wym that’s bad, John, you suck” Holmes
Sherlock “I emptied my gun into someone’s back because he was just really annoying me anyway what’s for dinner?” Holmes
Good lord.
William misread Sherlock badly from the beginning. This was made apparent immediately: Sherlock said the only reason he didn’t kill Hope was because he didn’t want to be told who the Lord of Crime was, and William went “Oh, he won’t kill people for answers he wants.” Dude, he didn’t want those answers, you just assumed he did.
Dumbass.
(The anime makes this a bit clearer with having Fred run off before Sherlock even says that, after he refuses to shoot, but the manga doesn’t make this totally apparent one way or the other)
This is the fault line on which he built his plan, the gap between who he assumed Sherlock was and who Sherlock actually is, which fissured and rended everything into pieces in The Final Problem.
William was wrong.
Sherlock is a kind person, Sherlock is a helpful, caring person who hates abuses of power. But the same can be said of William on all of those scores, and William is still a serial killer and a cheat and a liar. If anything, he has far more shame about those things than Sherlock does.
Sherlock has never been disappointed in anyone’s morals (unlike, say, John, or even Liam) because he doesn’t have any.
He is not entirely unprincipled, but moral? Lmao, Sherlock Holmes is not a man on the side of angels. I don’t think any variant of him ever has been.
There's No Business Like Show Business: Chapter 1
T/N: Takes place after the Phantom of Whitechapel arc (Chapters 25-29 of the manga).

Thinking about how William, instead of being open and reasonable and going up to Albert and saying, "Hey, I'm upset and need comfort," he just. Decided to be visibly sad in front of Albert to nudge his very own older brother into going "Hey, Little Brother is Sad, Please Provide Reassurance."
He's just so bad at asking for things he wants and having open emotional communication with people. And Louis is, too (because guess who he learned that from...). In Baskervilles, Moran has to go, "Hey, you're brothers, you know, you can just go...tell him you're upset and talk things out."
And Louis! Does that! He thinks about it, goes, you know what, Moran, you might not sweep the floors properly, but you're right, I'll go talk to William. And he has a good conversation with William and they resolve their emotional distance.
And despite that, William just decides to be. Performatively sad.
God dammit, William, why the hell must you be like this.
However, he admitted to it now, and while he was pushed into it a bit by needing to reassure Albert, I like to think he's gotten better about this nonsense during the time skip. I like thinking about him trying to be performative and manipulate Sherlock into providing for his emotional needs, but...Sherlock is very observant but can be kinda crappy about this stuff, and he's not so easy to manipulate at times. So maybe William had to learn to voice things. And Sherlock is so good, so brave at voicing his feelings, once he gets there. At least by the time The Two Criminals rolls around, and we see it in The Final Problem as well--he's learned how to vocally express his feelings to John.
So I hope he gave some of that to William.
Sherliam isn't written as a romance. Its written as a friendship with heavy romantic undertones. They are first and foremost friends who love each other dearly and they could most definitely have been more considering the sheer amount of romantic tropes attached to them had they had the time and environment to foster the relationship. Their's is the only friendship with romantic subtext in a series full of undying loyalty and deep devotion. But they also have parallels with other relationships, both romantic and platonic. Louis and Moran who see William as the one person who's acknowledgement gave them a reason to exist are both platonic familial love, and John seeking out that same acknowledgement in his romantic relationship with Mary. They are both paralleled when Louis states that Sherlock's acknowledgement is what William needs to continue living.
So yea they are soulmates and have a very romance oriented interaction with the tension and flirting but at least up until the fall they aren't in love since they didn't really get a chance to nurture what they have. They love each other but they aren't in love.
Thats my take on them so far.
There is a lot to say about the volume 14 Alt Cover, but today I just want to fixate on Sherlock's hand grabbing Liam's arm and pulling the gun away from his head.
It's also the same hand he had his detective hat in, so he dropped it/gave it up to Liam in order to save him.
Have we talked about how Liam hid his plans and his love letter to Sherlock in the orphanage he lived in before the court case when he was little?
Sending Sherlock to the place he lived before he was William James Moriarty, giving him his birth name, handing over all his schemes and all his feelings…I just…it’s so romantic.

The Kissing Game: Introduction
“Kageyama Tobio.”
Iwaizumi frowned, looking over at Oikawa for more clarification.
“He’s the one,” Oikawa continued, smiling.
“Shittykawa, I don’t understand.”
Oikawa sighed dramatically while throwing up his hands in the air.
“Oh, Iwa-chan,” Oikawa cooed. “Just look forward to a text you’ll see tonight.”

jaeno headcanons
ok but jeno ? intense
DID U SEE HIM PUT HIS ARM AROUND JAEMIN DURING THE 00 LINE VLIVE
AND JUST STARE AT HIM
I FELT THAT STARE THROUGH THE SCREEN OK
but honestly, that’s just how he tells jaemin he wants a kiss
jaemin always has to initiate kisses
all he has to do is hold jeno’s face in his hand and lean in slowly
THAT’S HOW U STEAL JENO’S HEART
jeno is so clingy 24/7
u can find him 9/10 times with his head buried in jaemin’s chest while they cuddle on the couch or something
and jaemin just runs his hand through jeno’s hair as he slowly falls asleep
BUT HE’S TRYING SO HARD TO STAY AWAKE AND HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH JAEMIN
IT’S SO CUTE
jeno’s voice would start getting softer and softer
and jaemin can tell he’s trying so hard !!!!! bc he’s like sleep talking !!!!!!!!!!!
when jeno starts mumbling nonsense in reply to whatever jaemin’s saying, min knows he’s a goner

“If you ask, what is Yang Jinghua to me? Then I will tell you, He is my past, my present and my future.”
Duanmu Xi and Yang Jinghua are so married I’m lost for words.
Please take a moment to appreciate the exploding emotion here. Here goes, “Duanmu Xi, I want to protect your heart, I will not lose to anyone.”
I’m pretending all the time to be, kinder, stronger, funnier, more sociable than I am. I guess we’re all like that but it just feels so inadequate.
What’s the difference?
I know it sounds flippant but… certain things are fundamentally performative. And other things are so close as makes no difference.
Kindness is performative. Actions are kind, and people are kind by performing those actions. You can’t “pretend” to be kinder than you are, you can only perform kindness or not perform kindness, and choosing to perform kindness is always worthwhile, no matter how much you may second-guess your motivations.
Strength is so many things. It takes strength to pretend a strength you don’t feel. And the way to achieve strength is to exercise it, so long as you do it in enough moderation to not strain or break anything. Being able to affect strength when necessary while being able to put it down again when that in turn is necessary is healthy. Everyone starts weight training with the littlest weights. It’s not fake or pretending to do what you gotta do in any given situation.
Funniness lives in the interlocutor, not in the speaker. It doesn’t matter how funny you think you are (or think you are pretending to be) - that’s not how it’s measured. At what point are you “pretending” to be a musician if the music still gets made? And often what it’s tempting to describe in first person as “pretending” is more accurately described in the third person as “practicing” - which is of course the way you cause things to Be.
Sociability is also performative. Pretending to be sociable is just…being sociable, despite a disinclination towards it. It’s making an effort towards something you value. So long as the effort is not so great that it backfires into resentment, there’s no practical difference.
Qualities or activities or whatever are no less worthy because you have to actively choose to perform them. If anything, the worthiness lies in the act of choosing. It’s not “pretending” - it’s agency.
tl;dr: ain’t nothing wrong with “fake it till you make it.” A plastic spoon* holds just as much soup as a “real” one
* I keep wanting to talk about semantic domains! Artifacts are defined by their utility, whereas living things are defined by their identity. So plastic forks are still forks, but plastic flowers aren’t flowers. So there’s two pep-talk messages to take away from this: (1) for certain things, the distinction between “fake” and “real” isn’t a relevant one so long as they still get the job done, and (2) the purpose of a living thing is to be the thing that it is. The idea of a “useless person” is as semantically nonsensical as the idea of “pretend kindness” (or fake cutlery).
I love this post. It illustrates what I think is maybe the key difference between a developing self-identity and a formed self-identity, which is, like…confidence? If you are BEING kind, consistently, if you are prioritizing that over your own comfort or fatigue or even, occasionally, your emotional inclination (because OH MY GOD FUCK THIS GUY, I HAVE HAD IT UP TO HERE–uuughhh, but no, I’m not gonna lash out at him, that won’t accomplish anything, and besides, he’s probably had a bad day, he’s under a lot of stress, I don’t have to be an asshole about this…), guess what? That makes you kind. That is literally what kindness is. Same for patience, same for strength, same for all of this stuff. You got it. You’re doing it. You’re not faking anything. Stop second-guessing yourself and cutting yourself down. Give yourself enough credit to look at your actions and confidently assert to yourself that you are no longer just making things up as you go.
