Throughout my life, I’ve had lots of hobbies, but I think the one that I like the most is designing spaces for buildings. It was my professor who taught me this skill for a long time ago. I don’t remember exactly when, but it was probably 10 years ago when I was in University. I still remember the first time I saw him drawing. I was instantly impressed by his talent. He could clearly organize all rooms to have different functions in the plan. At that time, I wished that I would become a person like him. Therefore, I have spent all of my time to practice it.
What is special about this pursuit is that I need to read numerous books to research and broaden my horizons on the topic. Moreover, I not only sketch spaces on paper but also draw it on a computer or even make models. I will share with you all of the steps of designing spaces for buildings. Firstly, I receive some requirements from clients or other colleagues, then I research from other existing buildings. After that, I sketch the ideas on paper. To make sure it is suitable for users, I often draw it on the computer to check the dimensions, equipment, materials and even lighting. Sometimes, I also make models because they are something real that I can touch and feel. Therefore, the models can boost my creativity more. To be honest, I never get bored by this activity.
When it comes to the reasons why I like this hobby. I consider it like a problem-solving activity in mathematics. I’m extremely happy when I find a good solution for it. If you ask me, I totally believe that I want to design buildings for the rest of my life and I have no hesitation in saying this. In the future, I hope that I have more opportunities to travel and gaze at the most gorgeous man-made landmarks to acquire more experience. So that when I go back home and sit in front of my drawing board, I could design new buildings better than those I’ve done. I always follow the quote “ do what you love, and love what you do”.

Owning a business is good for many individuals. It is also a goal in my life. I would like to establish a small studio designing houses and apartments. Four years ago, I worked in a small studio and had an opportunity to design a penthouse on the top of a highrise building. It was a great experience because it gave me a chance to know the life on the top floor of the building and got more experience by designing it.
During the time I had designed this apartment, I gained hands-on experience about how to run a small project like this, such as meeting clients to get information, designing and presenting to these clients and meeting constructors to build it. To make a studio, I need to get licenses to operate a company. To get these licenses, I need 5 years experience related to the type of buildings which I want to design. After that, I need to take a test from the Institute of Architects to check and make sure that I know all laws and standards to design it. Moreover, I need to have a portfolio to show to my clients in the future that I absolutely have experience and ability to design their houses.
I think that my own business would develop in the future because I still receive plenty of invitations to design. All of them come from friends of my previous clients. Moreover, I am not scared that it might fail because the finance to run a small studio is not high. I just have to buy some computers and software for my employees. Additionally, I do not need a lot of staff to run it. Furthermore, the demand for private houses is still a high proportion, especially apartments and condos; therefore, I absolutely believe that my business would be successful.

To become a good leader, a person needs lots of characteristics such as confidence and responsibility. First, a leader should be confident. In fact, if a leader is not confident in some things they doing, subordinates will never follow them. They should be a model for their other staff to follow. Secondly, a leader should be responsible for the result of projects whether it is good or bad because they are the person who makes a plan, choose their other colleagues to run projects, and checks all things in these projects.
Making decisions, having more knowledge and experience in their field, and having soft skill are these skills of leaders who I worked with in previous companies. The fact that, they have the ability to take the right decision. They already have thought long and hard before taking a decision but once the decision is taken, stand by it. Additionally, they already through a lot of previous projects; therefore, they are able to make a good plan to do it. Furthermore, to work with others, the soft-skills are necessary because they are able to understand staff and control them to follow their target.
When it comes to why I think these leaders are successful people; they have more power in their company because they have the ability to make decisions to manage projects. Moreover, they also have a higher salary than these other colleagues because they work very hard and have more responsibility. They have more respect from colleagues because of their intelligence and their vision. To me, a leader like a captain who directs a ship to a good place. Without a doubt, they are one of the most important people in companies.

Recently, we have seen a considerable rise in the number of people changing eating habits. They tend to become vegetarians. I also want to change myself following this trend, but I can not do it at this time because the price of vegetables or organic food is more expensive in Toronto than that of meat. This means that I still eat meat, but I reduce my meat consumption. I already have over four years of experience as a vegetarian; as a result, my health improved at that time.
There are several reasons why people choose not to eat meat. Firstly, most of them believe that the animal has feeling and a spirit like a human being. Therefore, it is unethical when people kill animals to get food. Secondly, a healthy lifestyle is one of the important factors that people consider in choosing food. In fact, numerous researches show that health problems are linked to eating meat, such as obesity, heart disease, and many types of cancer. Thirdly, eating less meat also save the environment. The fact is that the carbon footprint generated by raising animals like cattle is high. According to researchers, the second highest carbon footprint comes from raising animals.
Clearly, most of the problems would be reduced if people reduce the consumption of meat. People would live longer if they stop eating meat. They could avoid the risk of disease. The world would become more friendly when we do not see the blood of killing animals. The environment also improves when the amount of carbon footprint decreases due to stop raising animals. Without a doubt, I will try to become a vegetarian as soon as possible.

The physical environment includes land, air, water, plants, and buildings. From my perspective, the physical environment is extremely important to people's abilities such as creativity or productivity. To be honest, I want to work in a room where is highest in a city. I am able to see outside without obstacles. I'm eager to see the different colors of the sky during the day. Additionally, I need a small garden where I am likely to relax and breath fresh air. In fact, people work more productivity in green spaces with more trees. Moreover, furniture is also an important factor which allows me to work comfortably. All of the dimensions of furniture must fit with my body and flow ergonomics.
Honestly, I feel uncomfortable and unable to work productively in a private space because I feel isolated and tired. Especially, some places don’t have windows and natural light. The temperature is also crucial effects to productivity at work. In fact, most of the research shows that temperature 20 degrees is suitable to work in. People are able to perform better at this temperature. Another factor affects productivity at work is noise. Noises will impact the ability to concentrate. The fact is that loud sounds could make people angry and distracted.
Clearly ,a healthy environment is important for people’s physical and emotional wellbeing. There are several features that create healthy environments. Firstly, that is the shelter where people feel safe; where people are able to avoid noises and keep at a suitable temperature. Additionally, the place where people are close with nature. Furthermore, an ergonomic workstation is necessary to keep people comfortable and working for a long time. Without a doubt, individuals need all things to work more productivity and creativity.

“Travel bug” is the action which describes “strong desire to travel”. Nowadays, people are easy to travel to other places because the invention of airplanes was developed or the policy of attracted tourists of all nations around the world is published. The time and fees to travel have already reduced than that of it in the past. People can absolutely be afforded to travel.
There are several reasons why people like traveling. Firstly, they are able to expand their networks. In fact, people easily make new friends when they travel to new places. If people just only stay in a place, they are hard to meet new people who are suitable for them to get along with. Secondly, people would have a better stand of living and work-life balance. Your life would be more colorful if you travel to other places which have different cultures. For example, if you travel to some countries in tropical areas, you have numerous opportunities to try plenty of fruits which are cheaper or disappear in yours. Thirdly, your skills would improve during the time traveling. For instance, if you want to study a new language, the best way is to live in a country using these languages.
Clearly, a traveling-lifestyle has more advantages than a traditional lifestyle. Traveling helps us broaden our horizons. The would be becoming smaller. In fact, if everyone really tried to learn about other cultures via traveling, the world would be more peaceful because we are likely to understand each other. From my perspective, every time I travel, I learn wonderful, strange, amazing and interesting things about other cultures. Therefore, I always find any chance to travel. I often tell myself that “you can always make more money, but you can’t always make more memories”. _______________________

Everybody has a different background; therefore, he or she also has different demands and difficulties which he or she will face in his or her daily lives. To students, they need to balance between study and outdoor activities, such as doing their hobbies, working part-time, and caring relationships.
There are several reasons why some students drop out of school. Firstly, they have different views about studying in schools. Some students believe that they are able to gain more experiences and knowledge when they directly work without studying in schools. Life will teach them valuable lessons than schools. Secondly, finance is also an important factor which affects the performance of students in schools. To take my friend as an example, he works over 50 hours per week to earn money for living and paying fee in a school. Honestly, it is hard for him to study well in class; as a result, he failed in the class and decided to stop studying. Thirdly, some parents make decisions for their children who are unsatisfied with these decisions such as choosing schools to study. Therefore, they want to drop out of school to follow their passion. In fact, if a student love art, it is hard for them to study in science school.
There is no doubt that studying in school is useful for students in the future. Therefore, schools and teachers should help students to reduce the number of students dropping out of school. First, schools are likely to open some online courses for students. It is the best way to help them continuing study because it allows students to study at any time they want and it also reduces money and time to travel to school. Second, teachers need to convince parents of these students respecting the hobbies of their children. They should allow their children to study anything they want. Moreover, rewarding and scholarships for good students also motivate them to continue to study. It is necessary to help students continuing study because society would be better and more organized if all citizens are educated.

City Expansions and the Vertical Urbanization Approach: The Future of Architecture
The current issue of our society is spreading out and swallowing up surrounding land for high-density urban areas, which makes us-human-have no more grounding space to stay. The recent report by United Nations (2014) estimate 54 percent of the world’s population lives in urban areas, a proportion that is expected to increase to 66 percent by 2050. Numerous cities in around the world will face plenty of challenges in meeting the needs of their growing urban populations, including for housing, infrastructure, transportation, and energy. The demand is very high but the land is limited. While some urban architects believe satellite cities are good way to address these problems, others say the solution is to build up. Due to the controversy around this topic, managing urban areas has become one of the most significant development challenges of the 21st century. Notwithstanding the controversy, the vertical city is a viable solution for sustainable living because it supports places for growing population and preserves land for food production, natural and recreation.
Vertical cities provide more housing units to accommodate coming population increase. Firstly, vertical cities offer a space-saving way to accommodate all those people. It means that a high-rise building is able to contain more houses by expanding construction area toward vertical. According to Leanna Garfield (2015) ”Italian firm Luca Curci Architects designed a vertical city for the United Arab Emirates. Up to 25,000 people could live in their 180-floor skyscraper.” Secondly, Vertical cities are able to provide accommodation for large number of people with considerably lower cost. In fact, prices and preferential location charges tend to decrease when one opt for the higher floor than the lower floor in a high-rise building. One study (Glaeser, 2011) shows that the land costs become pretty small if each floor added to a building. Additionally, it is more convenient to live in high-rise buildings. The fact that people are able to reduce distances between housing, workplaces and retail areas, if they live in a high-rise building which integrates and blends residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial uses. According to Dom Knight (2017) “Apartments often boast luxurious shared facilities such as pools, gyms and gardens, and not only have lower, predictable maintenance costs, but never require you to clear the gutters.” Another example, in the article “World's second-tallest building completed in Shanghai” (Frearson, 2016) describes Shanghai Tower that “It comprises 121 storeys, divided into nine vertical zones that include shops at the base, offices in the centre, and hotels, cultural facilities and observation decks at the top.” This example shows that building vertical cities are possible in the future. Clearly, vertical city consumes less land for development than horizontal city.
Vertical cities are likely to preserve land for food production, natural and recreation. First, high-rise buildings are greener than sprawl. In order words, exploiting planes vertically, people could convert their current spaces into provision of land for afforestation and biodiversity revival, throughout a process of gradually building up to higher level for living, and step by step giving back grounding land below to other living creatures. Building up means less building out. According to Edward Glaeser (2011) “But one of the advantages of building up in already dense neighborhoods is that you don't have to build in green areas, whether in Central Park or somewhere far from an urban center.” Moreover, concerns of food and water security is arising in numerous cities because the demand of the population is significant increase. Without a doubt, it is hard to produce adequate food to support for citizens when agricultural land is converted into residential and industrial areas. In the article “Future urban land expansion and implications for global croplands” Christopher Bren d’Amour, et al. (2016) describe that “urban expansion will result in a 1.8–2.4% loss of global croplands by 2030” and “Globally, the croplands that are likely to be lost were responsible for 3–4% of worldwide crop production in 2000. Urban expansion is expected to take place on cropland that is 1.77 times more productive than the global average.” Clearly, it is necessary to advocate building upward rather than outward to prevent environmental degradation and preserve land for further development.
On the contrary, the main problem of highrise buildings is not only that there are hard to manage problems such as garbage management, water shortages, and emergency issues, but also negative impact on people’s health. In the event of a terrorist, a collapse could wipe out tens of thousands of lives. For instance, thousands of people were trapped in the upper floors of twin towers of the World Trade Center in September 11 attacks which killed 2606 people. Additionally, according to Sarah Knapton (2016) “People living on the upper floors of high-rises are far more likely to die from a cardiac arrest – caused usually by a heart attack - than those residing on the lower levels.” On the surface, it seems logical; however, population needs accommodations and supporting infrastructure which can only be achieved by constructing high-rise buildings. Thanks to technology, engineers are able to make buildings standing longer in the same event September 11. In the article “One World Trade Center, New York” describes
“The design of One WTC is very different from that of the twin towers. While they were held up by external steel columns, it has a hybrid concrete-and-steel structure. The key to its strength is a massive, extremely strong concrete core.”
This event makes the entire engineering and construction community sitting to find what had happened in these buildings to learn lessons making future buildings better. Another common argument against, due to paramedics can not get to cardiac arrest people in time, most of them in high-rise buildings are likely to die more than that of lower buildings. This situation already change when all of high-rise buildings have special elevator or way to rescue people in emergency situations. In addition, human could adapt and even make huge changes on the nature to embody architecture environment for their living. Specifically, the skyscrapers development could be a certain evidence for human adaptability. According to Jason M. Barr (2017) “Since 1890, their heights have grown, on average, about 17 feet per year. Statistically speaking, this suggests that a mile-high building will be built in the middle of the 22nd century.” As technological improvements not only make building skyscrapers easier and faster, but also organize buildings more efficiently.
In conclusion, it may be easy to expand cities toward horizontal mergers in the short term, but in the long term this would have a negative impact on economic, social and environmental. Consequently, it is necessary to create higher-density cities and control urban sprawl by building up to preserve land for further development and housing supply. While built area is limited, human requirement for living space is still increasing. But human is highly adaptable to the circumstances, what they really need is only an elevator for standing up, but the other species are not so: they need principal environmental factors to survive. Replacing old habits with new ones (leaving the ground and going up to higher levels) is the best solution to adapt lifestyle changes for better living. As one great leader put it “God made the country, and man made the town.” William Cowper (n.d.)

It's hard to deny the importance of luck in life. In the end, though, we cannot control our luck—good or bad—but we can control our effort and preparation.

What is shame?
Shame is the painful feeling associated with a negative evaluation of the self: that you are bad, flawed, inappropriate, or less than what you ought to be.
shame can also motivate responsibility and repair behaviours

The Effect of Electronic Devices on Teens
There is growing concern that young people are spending excessive amounts of time using electronic media. Much of this time is spent playing computer games. Teens and children who become hooked on these games can play for dozens of hours at a time, often without breaks to eat, sleep, or even use the bathroom. While there may be some value in using these devices, heavy use of electronic media can have significant negative effects on children’s behavior, health, and school performance. (parallel)
Youngsters who spend time playing games on these devices often have behavioral problems. This is because many of these games contain simulated violence. A game like “Call of Duty” involves significant amounts of killing and destruction, and after playing for some time, this killing becomes meaningless for the player. In fact, they can even become immune to it. As a results, they are more inclined to act violently themselves. These students are more likely to fight with their peers and argue with their teachers. In addition, they find it harder to behave with understanding when they see other people in need.
A second concern is the health consequences for young people who spend too much time using electronic media. Because they do not move for long periods of time, they do not get the necessary exercise for their growing bodies. This affect their skeletal and muscle strength and can lead to black ache and other posture problems. In addition, they often eat badly and snack on high calories junk food instead of taking the time to eat a meal with their family, or prepare something for themselves. As a result, they can experience significant weight gain. A final problem is sleep deprivation. Young people can often play into the early hours of the morning. They need at least nine hours of sleep a night, and without this they could suffer from poor memory or depression.
Schoolwork can suffer too when too much time is spent on a computer or using a digital device. Students have less time for reading and studying, so they often do not do their homework or prepare for tests. In addition, because they are constantly stimulated by technology, they do not develop the necessary skills that allow them to process thoughts deeply and more creatively. Furthermore, because they are used to dealing with so much stimulation, they can lose the ability to focus on what is most important. Consequently, they find it hard to concentrate in lessons. Finally, when students stay up late playing games, they are often too tired to work properly in class.
In conclusion, young people have to understand that spending too much time in front of a screen will affect the way they behave, their health, and their academic success. They need to learn that life away from the screen is interesting. They need to become curious about people and interaction. They need to develop the social skills that are so important for their success in life.
