this post has started blowing up. for those who have liked/reblogged this: i am asking you to please circulate and donate to palestinian gofundme’s/other resources for palestine. i’m glad people find this story heartwarming but i want people to be vigilant in not letting the palestinian genocide just fizzle out of the news cycle like it’s some “trend”. do not turn a blind eye to ethnic cleansing, it is very much real and happening right now. if you can afford to donate, please do so. but Everyone is capable of using their voice, whether it be online or in their communities through organizing/protesting. i do not wanna hear shit about “empathetic burnout” from those who have FAR more privilege than these people could probably ever dream of in their lifetime. do not let apathy take hold, palestine will be free 🇵🇸

Also, this is the death of forums part 2. Forums died in web 1 because it was more convenient to gather on larger social media platforms, like reddit. Reddit is used by a lot of people to find answers to obscure questions that are written by humans and not advertizers or bot. Now reddit is imploding, and a lot of the useful communities (like the 3d printing one) are moving to discord, which makes it impossible for non members to find the answers they need.

We need to bring forums back in a better way, where they are convenient to use and affordable to host, or we will lose the ability to find humans on the internet with answers

I think the critical difference is that the bringing of recorded music with you ties the space to Elsewhere, whereas the creation of live music with an instrument you brought both binds you to the space, and drags everyone who hears you play into it as well.
