You crouched, reaching for him. 

“You’re okay-“ you started 

“Get away from me,” he snapped, though his voice trembled. “You think this is your little chance to prove I’m some tragic character who just needs love? Newsflash, I’m not.” He let out a shaky snicker, but tears betrayed him, glassing his eyes until they spilled over. You crouched down, reaching for him. “Jax..-“

He jerked his head at you, eyes glassy. “Oh, here it comes.” He chuckled. “The comforting speech. The whole ‘you’re not alone, you’re actually loved’ crap. That’s what you’re thinking, right? His laugh cracked apart halfway through, trembling as tears welled. He pressed his palms into his eyes, shaking his head violently. “God, you don’t get it. You don’t get it. You should hate me right now. After everything I said to you, after how I treat you, what the hell are you even doing here?”

Your chest tightened, but you didn’t move away. “…I didn’t come here because I hate you.”

“Please,” he whispered, voice cracking. “Please don’t go.”

Your breath caught. You settled onto the floor beside him, letting him clutch your hand like it was the only thing anchoring him. Silence stretched, filled only with the sound of his uneven breathing. You shifted your breaths slower, calmer. Little by little, his matched yours.

The trembling in his shoulders eased. His eyes closed, damp lashes brushing his cheeks as he leaned back against the wall, still gripping your hand tight.

“…Man,” he muttered, voice hoarse but with a weak edge of humor, “I must look so fucking stupid right now.” He let out a laugh that was more air than sound.

Both you and jax decided to skip caines boring-ass adventure today. zooble did the same, they were just a few rooms down the hall. you and jax found your way back to your room, no rush, no plans.

you got here in the Digital Circus shortly after pomni and you sorta followed in her footsteps, however the others noticed you quickly became close to jax over the next few weeks. closer and quicker then anyone else. present time now, for the ‘fun gun game!’ (or at-least that’s how caine labels it, trying his best to keep it ‘family friendly’ but is failing miserably😭) since there is a odd number of people, you’ll be on a team with 3 people. 

your on the same team as jax and pomni. ragatha and kinger are on a team, and zooble and gangle are on a team. 

…before the game starts, everyone got to pick a gun of their choice, and each had infinite ammo. the 3 teams split up and eventually everyone disperses, everyone in their different hiding spots, pomni goes her own way from your guys team but you find yourself shortly following behind jax, he was walking and had a gun over his shoulder. his face went from a bored, blank expressed to smirking when he noticed you following him. you guys walked side by side down a hallway looking for players to eliminate.

“u needing to follow me because you know i’ll win this thing?” he joked, looking down at you. his figure towered over yours so eminently, it was almost comical. 

“tch, noo. im following you because i know you’ll need MY help.” you replied snarkly.

he chuckled.

“sure sure,” he muttered, “just say you want to be near me.”

…moments later, shots were fired behind the two of you. you both quickly perked up and jaxs ears twitched as your pupils dialated. you both froze for a second, waiting for something else to happen. weather to hear a scream or walking, anything - until you both heard another pair of gunshots behind you both, closer this time, making you both jump. out of instinct, jax grabs your wrist and pulls you into a near by closet with him. his intention was to hide you both but that was hard to see clearly as you both were almost squished together.

you both fell silent as you guys heard 2 pairs of footsteps walking down the hall and some mumbling you couldn’t hear through the closet door. but jax didn’t seemed to be focused on that, as his hand swings up to the wall behind you, in a way basically pinning you there. you glared at him, he knew you couldn’t say something snarky and he took that to his advantage.

his knee was placed against your legs, pushing through that you slightly open your legs, he took this and his knee pressed against your crotch. you left out a soft whine in response. now loud enough for the people outside to hear, but it was sure loud enough for jax to hear as in response, he smirked and pressed just a bit harder. he’d stimulate that by rubbing his knee against you very subtly.
