One detail that not many people remember about Alien Isolation is that it was the first time in decades that we saw the xenomorph in a truly terrifying way. For years, the creature had remained a kind of alien bug—something you had to shoot or else it was simply cannon fodder for the predators.

But for the first time since the original movie, the xenomorph not only looked biomechanical again (since later designs had made them insectoid), but it was also genuinely scary.
