Nodding, she understood the realities of other people having jobs and other obligations. At least he had come and wasn’t complaining about it. Other parents, or rather some of them, had reminded her she was cutting into their personal time. She had smiled so much during those that her cheeks were still sore and her nerves were on edge.

It would it surprise him if she told few fathers cared? That some of them thought her class was nothing but finger painting and snacks? The mothers took interest and would ask questions. The fathers just nodded. Not all of them, of course, but some.

“That has to be quite the job. I’m glad that they have someone on their side. It can’t be easy.

Of course, we all just want to do what’s best.”

She reached her hand out to take his to shake. A soft smile on her face that Violet might have mentioned to her. Nadia had learned that most children didn’t talk about school and if they, it was mostly to complain about their teachers.

“Oh? Good things I hope.”

Chuckling, she thought about how she might word things.

“Although, I have noticed some slight changes in behavior. She can be a little mischievous. Sometimes, her pranks are just a little too much for the other kids. There’s been moments where it seems its more for attention. I try to encourage all the kids to play together, but it’s not easy.

Group work, she takes the leader’s position, but gets a little bossy.”

These were small things that she had noticed. Trying her best to understand all of it and make sure that everyone got along as much as children could at this age.

Withdrawing his hand from the shake, he began to sit down. Shifting his gaze towards her as she chuckled. He hated that he took down the mood, but it was serious. It’s hard to see your child come home sobbing.

“ Of course, good things. Violet never seems to speak poorly about anyone. Besides the minor bullying that happens. Which is a topic I would like to discuss too. To see if we can resolve that.”

He became much more alert when she mentioned behaviors. Causing his brows to curve upward, almost confused by this. This wasn’t his child…she never had been that way with him or at home.

The bullying would make sense….if this were the case. But he didn’t wanna believe that.

“ Oh really? She’s never mentioned any of these pranks to me. Are you sure? This all just seems very odd. She’s not like this at home, I assure you. She’s obedient, respectful, independent.”

Blue seemed to pipe up, explaining to her. Though in truth he was never really attentive and has neglected the child for hours at a time. He doesn’t truly know his own child, only what he wants to believe she is.

Her brow lifted. Bullying? That was the first she was hearing of that. Nadia had prided herself on always keeping a close eye on the children, and make sure there wasn't anything like that going on. Had she missed something during recess one day?

“Yes, let's talk about that. I assure you, Mr. Jones, that I do keep an eye on all the children. However, recess is full of others, and it's possible I might have missed it. Which if I have, I deeply apologize. Did she mention the name of any students?”

Nadia wouldn't allow that in her classroom and if it was another student, she was going to speak to the teacher and student. However, it sort of got to her that Violet wouldn't speak to her first or bring it to her attention. Children often strayed from telling the teachers first, scared to get in trouble over the situation.

Violet was a wonderful student minus the behaviors that could easily be fixed with help. It wasn't a secret that often time or not, Nadia did extra for the girl but she wasn't sure if she should bring that up. Reaching for her notepad, she jotted down a little note to also ask Violet as well. Also, if Blue had learned the name of the student then she would get to work fixing it all.

“She doesn't mean harm. I think she wants them to just play with her is all. Some kids are known to act differently at home and school. It does happen. Violet isn't a bad student, not in the slightest. It's just these small behaviors. I just want us to work together and find a solution to help.”

She didn't want to start poking too much into his personal life and what was happening at home. It could make all this blow-up and she wasn't looking for any type of fight. Merely wanting to help if she could. Just meeting the man, she could tell he work a lot but how much? More questions were forming in her mind but she wasn't sure where to start.

She finished grading the last of her papers, and is finally able to go walk around the city for a little bit.

The first week of the new school hasn't been too bad. Some little ones still don't like when their parents leave but each day they don't cry as much. However, she's running low on coffee and might consider adding it to the school supply list next time...
