The worst part of emotional abuse is how there’s no physical proof. Everyone around you doubts you and claims that your abusers aren’t doing anything wrong and that it’s probably your fault, and it gets to a point where you’re so broken down by that concept that you begin to think you’re the problem and that ruins you for life.

The more I advocate veganism, the more I come to realize that people don’t care about you being a “nice” vegan, they care about you being a silent one. It doesn’t matter how kind you are in delivering your message. If it goes against someone’s strongly held beliefs, they will almost always become defensive and vitriolic.

18-year-old Bibi Aisha had her nose and ears chopped off by the Taliban for escaping her husband. 

When she was 12-years-old, she was given to the family of a Taliban fighter under Pashtun tribal custom for settling disputes. As soon as she reached puberty, she was forced to marry him. After suffering abuse, she fled back home. The Taliban tracked her down and mutilated her for “shaming” her husband. After this photograph appeared in Times Magazine, she was flown to the United States for reconstructive surgery. She was adopted by an Afghan-American couple.

Motivation

Stop studying because there’s a deadline. Stop studying to impress other people. Studying is a waste of time unless you are studying because you want to study. Study because you are capable of excellence, and it would be a shame to waste that potential. Study so that you can achieve your dreams. Study so that, when you look back many years from now, you’ll still be proud of how you worked.
