my preorder of onyx storm arrived ⛈️

do I hate reading hardbacks? sure maybe. did I need this to match my others? yes actually. am I in reality reading this series on my kindle? yes indeedy. but that’s it to my new books for a few months I think so wanted it to be special and look incredible on a bookshelf 👌🏼🤭

I originally read fourth wing book 1 in the midst of the hype and finished it in no time at all. This one came out so fast and I was so deep into several other series that I think combined with what is (to me anyway) not the best writing and certainly very American high school-esque, I put this down and was slightly worried it would be confined to the graveyard of my very rare DNF pile 🪦

Fast forward to the hype around book 3, and real life and internet friends screaming at me to finish it so they can discuss plot theories, I’ve diving back in. It’s a genuinely compelling story, of a little predictable at times, but I mostly want to be a part of the hype and the conversation and jokes that I know will surround the next book in the coming weeks - the bookish community is such fun in moments like these ✨
