Hudcon Songs of Significance Shared by Connorās Friends on Met Gala Weekend
Better late than never, I am submitting this one. Weāve talked a lot about the Met Gala and after parties, but we have spent less time talking about the weekend we all spent waiting for men to walk in and out of hotels.
A primer: we spent most of Saturday May 2nd waiting expectantly for either to show. A seemingly exhausted Hudson arrived first, emerging from the Mark that afternoon. And most of us did not see Connor until he popped up on SNL to introduce Olivia Rodrigo. Something I had predicted earlier in the week! See my blog for receipts.
May 3rd dawned and sunshine Connor and his team were in and out of the Carlyle a lot. Hudson was spotted later at the Mark wearing gym clothes and a mask. He was then spotted again lookingā¦letās say displeased. Off.
Hudson appeared off all weekend. Weād later learn he was exhausted, still caught up in playing Tyler from Apparatus. And ā letās be honest ā probably frustrated that Connor was nearby yet inaccessible.
So during the day, friends of Connor posted insta stories. And they were songs of significance for Hudcon.
Bailey was up first, around 1 pm EST/10 am PST.
I clocked this and screenshot it because it was the song that accompanied the September balcony hard launch photo they both had on their grids until mid November when it was archived. You know the one:
A few hours later, at around 7 pm EST it was Gracie Abramsās turn. Itās unlike her to share another artistās song in this way, and it was the song that Connor mentioned in his SUE interview:
Connor was no longer in the habit of or really able to send public messages to Hudson through his own account. But he could (and did) ask friends to share these stories during this day of separation when Hudson was going through it.

I've been looking (very fondly) at the photos from the September Trip. What strikes me as I look at all of these is the intimacy. Unlike the NY trip, there are no friends around, it's all just them. We've seen Hudson hiking with friends but this is an exclusive trip. All the photos are made by the other or selfies. It's two people spending time together, getting to know each other beyond the filming set and reestablishing their relationship.

That crowd, that other crowd, that other other crowd... Antis from seemingly every corner, constantly scheming and waiting to stir up noise and cause a problem.
Yāall know who I mean. The mean girls.
One thing about mean girls is that they love mess. Toxic, nasty, invasive mess. They get a big laugh, they have a lot of fun in their gcs, and because they thrive on your frustration and anger, they seem to always win.
They wear many masks, pretending to have some Good Cause underneath their crusade, because it helps them defend their behavior. It helps them sleep better. The ādefense squad,ā the āIām a true fan,ā the āIām the only one that really cares about my fav.ā Itās all shit, but they embrace these statements as permission slips to badger and skewer anyone they deem a āthreat,ā or even slightly in the way of whatever it is they want to prove.
Sometimes itās a shipping war, sometimes itās a fight between solos, and for us lucky souls in the HR fandom, weāve got shippers and solos trying to get a piece and jumping in. Oh joy.
Hereās my advice though. And you wonāt love this, butā¦
Stop trying to win.
I mean it. Iām an old hag, Iāve been in fandom spaces for decades. When you see a mean girl, a troll, an anti, donāt take the bait.
I know yāall want to. I get it. Because it feels good to put someone in their place, it feels vindicating to fight fire with fire and try to embarrass a hater on main. I get it. I really do.
But hereās the thing.. You canāt win by pouring gasoline onto their fires. You canāt defeat a mean girl by being mean right back, because thatās the fuel that sustains them. The more you yell and shout, the more theyāre going to laugh it up and keep pushing your buttons. When they see what made you jump, theyāre going to keep hitting that same spot. Over, and over.
Cause the thing with mean girls/antis/trolls is, theyāre not like you and I. They donāt have empathy for you, or whomever theyāre bullying. They donāt employ the full range of human emotions to be reasoned with, because if they did, they wouldnāt be such See you next tuesdays in the first place.
As our lovely Connor once said, small people do ugly things to hide how small they are. Nothing you do or say will fill that void. Follow his example - donāt engage. Donāt be pulled into their vat of poison. Rise above.
I see a lot of you living in fear of these people, so you feel like you need to do something. The anxiety, the dooming. āTheyāre going after H,ā āTheyāre going after C,ā āTheyāre going to launch a new theory.ā Of course they will. Thatās what sustains them, is causing trouble. But while I support spreading awareness as needed (IE, please tell us about targeted campaigns, users to avoid, etc), that should be the LIMIT of how you engage.
Do not comment back to them. Do not jump into their threads. Do not message them, for godās sake. And do not let the Thought of them keep you awake, do not doom spiral that this will happen, and that will happen.
An important fact Iāve learned from my fandoms, especially when real people are involved, is that companies, reps, teams, etc monitor our spaces. Theyāre not reading our discussions, but youād best believe they are tracking trends, looking for sizable disturbances and noticing legitimate threats. You donāt need to put yourself on the front lines to defend these boys - spread awareness, send their teams info if you want, but do not put your mental health at risk. Their teams are monitoring them, even when it doesnāt look like it.
Unfortunately, they do have priorities. They only jump in when itās very necessary. So yes, a lot of ugliness will be āignoredā. A lot of gossip and slander will be allowed to fester, especially in our fandom spaces. We donāt make the call on when anyoneās team will choose to engage. And thatās okay!
Most of the smear attempts we see are just that: attempts. Small-minded, flimsy jabs that eventually get disintegrated in the light of truth. Donāt lose sleep over it, donāt take the bait and let bullies impact your quality of life. Report, block, move on.
I wanna circle back to my title on this post.
Because yeah, I get that a lot of this feels hopeless sometimes. You might find the same nonsense rumor, the same ugly smear, the same distorted blind item gaining traction for weeks. It happens. Iāve witnessed one take hold for years. Sometimes there really is nothing you can do except to spread the truth, and hope for the best.
But the truth will set you free. Love and light will rise to the surface, always. When our boys look at this fandom, the love is the first thing they see.
Itās as my title says: At the end of the day, God donāt like ugly. The universe doesnāt reward soul rot.
Iāve dealt with my fair share of bullies poisoning my spaces. Theyāre an immutable fact of life, always some critters hiding somewhere. But Iāve been around long enough to see what happens to them; where their poison gets them.
For as long as their souls are consumed by rot, they canāt grow. They wonāt truly thrive. They might find that the universe doesnāt give them what they truly want, and they canāt move on. They will stay in that deep well, eating themselves and each other, stealing energy and not realizing that is exactly why they canāt climb out. Why their lives donāt move forward, into true blessings.
Donāt join them down there. Focus on whatās good, and leave them to their purgatory.

So respectfully, yes, we all have our opinions about the Situation. We all have different, valid interpretations. But one thing you will never do is convince me that he doesnāt wake up every single day loving that man, and making the active choice to share his love for him where all of us can see it.
Heās not even private about it. For as much as they share only with each other, he still carves out time to make sure that we know how much he thinks about him, and that his world and his universe would grind to a halt without Connor in it. Itās imperative to him that we all know he would kill any one of us for him.
And I didnāt even include shipping into thisā¦ this is just taking him at face value. 100% face value.
I see a lot of angry solos and antis and gossips chiming in these days to say mean-spirited things like, āhe doesnāt love Connor.ā
