Thinking about how 408 says Batman only visits crime alley once a year and 416 where Bruce narrates how “Jason was desperate to get out on his own” and like,,
Do you think that a few years, it was just Robin covering crime alley. (I think people of crime alley would remember that.)
the crazy thing about "being Robin gives me magic" is that that is not the most iconic line Jason has in that conversation
It's this obviously.
(Bat 385 by Doug Moench with art by Rick Hoberg)
broke: Jason being so very grateful to be loved by his perfect, moral, kind, and generous family even tho he knows he’s just too ontologically evil for them
Woke: Jason being so desperate for love that he accepts the inadequate, empty gestures that pass for love in his family, despite being completely aware of the fact that this love is fundamentally worthless and fickle
many of you just. genuinely don’t believe that people can grow and change.
this is about the death penalty and its also about call out posts about people who have already apologized for things they did a long time ago and it’s also about using ‘toxic’ or ‘abuser’ as if its an immutable class of person, and its also about any other circumstance with permanent consequences or wherein you assume someone is still the same person they were.
I’m seriously digging their dynamic.
Update: Jason now gets to ride up front.
Metahuman with super healing powers whose entire job is that once a week they go to a nearby hospital and are put into a medically induced coma for 24 hours while all their organs and blood are harvested, and kept there until they've healed up again.
They get paid a small stipend by the Heroes Council for this, and they live off that.
No crime fighting, no obvious heroics, and they only took a Super Identity because it's technically hero's council policy. Nobody's ever seen them in a cape.
Every so often the Heroes council will release an official report to the public, and there'll be another bunch of news articles wondering how some unknown super calling themselves 'Meat Factory' somehow consistently holds the record for most lives saved across the city.
It is essential to my vision that they are not at all sanctimonious about this.
Like, they regularly act like they're getting away with something. They joke about how they get to earn money in their sleep. They show up to their hospital visits in deliberately ridiculous disguises, on the excuse that they need to 'protect their identity'.
Part of their employment contract is that they get served the same post-operation vanilla ice cream that they normally hand out on the childrens' ward. Also a sticker. Their overnight bag is covered in stickers.
Okay, Meat Factory is awesome and hilarious, but if they're being harvested for and regenerating absolutely everything, may I suggest an alternative super name: Theseus.
Red him… small?
saw an article about an AI startup trying to make drones that would obliterate mosquitos and it literally made me cry like that 4 million dollars they spent could have gone into malaria and yellow fever research or spreading money to areas where they need nets and healthcare due to mosquitos like the answer isn’t killing an entire species from the planet it would destroy ecosystems and leave massive holes in the food chain for birds and other animals not even considering that mosquitoes are pollinators themselves like i truly feel like one company should not have the ability to literally just decide if a species should no longer exist and then execute an entire population like that like i feel like we should have a fucking say 😭
I don't really understand where people get the whole "Jason begged Bruce to break his moral code to kill the Joker" interpretation from. I imagine maybe it's more from the movie adaptation than the comic? Because I feel like the comic is fairly clear in that Jason is willing to do it himself. It's not just about the Joker dying or Bruce being the one to kill him; it's about Bruce seeing that Jason has to be the one to go to that extent.
When he tosses the gun to Bruce, Jason offers the ultimatum of: I'm going to kill Joker. You can stop me by shooting him yourself or shooting me before I'm able to.
The point of the confrontation isn't that Jason wants to force Bruce to kill the Joker. It's that he wants Bruce to undeniably feel the repercussions of his decisions/moral code. That's why Jason didn't kill the Joker when he had the chance in Lost Days, and why he didn't kill Bruce with the car bomb. It's why he painted the message "JASON TODD WAS HERE" upon his return. Jason is the consequence. Jason having to resort to becoming Red Hood is the consequence. He wants Bruce to see it, to acknowledge and confront the failings of his code directly.
The ultimatum of Under The Red Hood was Jason giving Bruce a final out. To allow him to take responsibility for the role of his previous inaction in this outcome. How you feel about the conclusion is completely subjective, but objectively speaking the ultimatum was never Jason demanding Bruce kill or change who he is on a fundamental level.

SCROLL BACK UP
through multiple disposable propaganda networks painstakingly build up over the course of the last decade, a couple of very expensive bribes to some very influential people, and no less than thirty sockpuppet accounts on reddit, i have put into motion a series of events which will culminate in a singular idea forming pseudo-organically in the consciousness of progressive discourse: the idea that it's problematic to subject a woman to a sexual encounter without having practiced on your homies first
i ❤ fact checking bold unsourced claims
I like how looking for this post on your blog makes it look like you spent 3 hours checking whether or not apples are a type of fruit
recently ive been reading more jason stuff and i noticed how often we get to know him through other people's narrations/thought boxes instead of his own, we know more what other people think of him than what he thinks in general
which leads me to prime obsessing over one of the few characters he can't read. like, he actually can't read jason, so he ends up hyperfixated on him trying to catch a sliver of a thought or anything
like he can read ahead and know other superheroes from reading their comics but he can't do that with jason and it itches at him, he needs to know what he's thinking, no one can accurately read that man and prime should be able to! where's his narration and inner monologue? where's his thought bubbles with actual real information and not just a hidden quip or complaint???
anyway,i was telling my roommate about this and she told me "so jason is prime's bella swan" and i needed to tell you this specifically because it ruined and made my night
i brought this up in a different but similar way on twitter once... let's find it...
here we go. it's not the same at all to what you said, but it's like, close enough, right? either way, prime likes jason on his own not just because of Everything Else but because there's something about him that makes him FEEL more real. he can't get a grasp on that dude like he can with everyone else, which makes him attracted to him.
in any case i think it's extremely funny to bring up bella. i think another friend of mine said they were twilight coded. i don't personally enjoy twilight and i probably never will but i Get it. this person is the one i cannot crack. i cannot understand him. I Have To. > leads to an obsession. happens to everybody, i'm sure
