Honestly, i've noticed that Nagyuun's perception of Najin seems to be slightly askew. While his acting has been good enough to keep everyone fooled up until now, it's just off enough to leave them suspicious too, even after having blocked Candentia's punch. And i noticed that these moments of doubt occur every time Nagyuun does something altruistic; suggesting to work together, offering advice, protecting one of them at the expense of his own safety, being humble about his abilities

I mean, Nags had Tyr hook-line-and-sinker until Tyr heard he "took a hit" to protect Marsha and Wadrin—he just saw Nags block a punch from the Candentia and yet hearing that "Najin" put himself in harms way for someone else was wild enough to make him doubt again. There’s been some other things i’ve found sus too, like when Luce said Najin wouldn't have hesitated to kill him and Nags didn’t argue. Then there’s Najin suggesting they throw Lauzun back out after rescuing him right in front of Lauzun, and what Marsha said during her introduction. I really dont think she pulled that outta nowhere, tho i do doubt he suggested it, i wouldnt be surprised if he only agreed to it bc he knew she could never actually beat him

Luzian and Najin seemed to have had a Very Bad relationship as well, even to the point of throwing hands, which is understandable considering she was bullying his brother, but it was bad enough that Fadiyan had to step in and make them to stop fighting. This was alluded to in chapter one, so whatever happened here couldn't have been between her and Nags. It was her and Najin- maybe even Luce too. Fadiyan doesn't seem like the type to interfere in small quarrels, especially not to that extent, so i wouldn't be surprised if Najin really went after one of them with the intent to do harm and she had to put her foot down to protect them.

Let it be said i dont think Najin is evil, but i do think Nagyuun's representation of Najin is an accurate portrayal of how Najin was to him, and of course Najin would be kind and caring to Nagyuun because he loves him, but I don't think Najin particularly cared about anyone else, and i also don’t think Nags realizes this. How would he? He’s been outcasted from every social group in the village, his only point of reference is Najin. If i’m right, our boy is in for a surprise when his identity gets out and he learns from the others what his brother got up to when he wasnt around

So, to recap, Hayato Suo:

Does basically everything with a permanent smile on his face (it's NOT always reassuring).

Wears an eyepatch and we absolutely do not know if there is a working eye beneath it.

He claims there is a Chinese spirit under the aforementioned eyepatch. In the character book he states this seal was "about to be broken", whatever that means.

He introduces himself as Leonardo Fucking Dicaprio for some reason.

He is touchy.

He calls other guys "Cutie" (derogatory) (is it only derogatory?).

He teases people (Sakura) as if it's second nature.

He can (and might) actually kill you.

His Hobby is freaking Human Observation which leads to his best subject being Chem and his freaking best skill being World Manipulation.

His favorite music is Folk Music.

His dream is the Emancipation of Slaves (which. Holy Moly Ravioli. The others listed a gf or a trip and there he goes).

Has a Master and Brothers (Relatives? Other disciples of this Master?) we know absolutely nothing about.

He NEVER eats. The single panel in the manga where he is shown eating has been "corrected" in the anime adaptation with him handing the food to Nirei. And he claims to be on a (unspecified) diet.

He has yet to go all-out.

Berates others on what it takes to be an adult (he is at most 16).

He claims to be a "chill guy" (spoilers, he is not)

What is wrong with him.

To appear weak and frightened, to reassure the other tributes that he is no competition at all, and then come out fighting. - "You know what my mother said to me when she came to say good-bye, as if to cheer me up, she says maybe District Twelve will finally have a winner. Then I realized, she didn’t mean me, she meant you!” bursts out Peeta. “Oh, she meant you,” I say with a wave of dismissal. “She said, ‘She’s a survivor, that one.’ She is,” says Peeta.

for some reason, i'm thinking about an alternate version of events where haymitch figures out the gumdrops are poisoned before it's too late, and then spends the rest of his life taking the first bite of everything lenore dove eats. just to make sure. and of course he's paranoid.

it would be such a delicious parallel to snow. the man willing to poison himself to kill others vs. the man who's willing to poison himself to save someone he loves.

and then it's an even more powerful image, in a way, because katniss and peeta did it with the berries, too.

I was about to write: I love the fact that Katniss‘ first reaction to Haymitch‘s absolutely traumatising story is „You need some goose eggs. Goose eggs will help.“

And then I realised… She‘s mimicking Peeta. Peeta comes back to 12 and the first thing he does is plant primroses. And somehow… that helped her. So she‘s doing the same thing for Haymitch.
